Hello

Not really sure if this is the right section ot not. My name is Ricardo. I read about BitCoin on the local news here and it got me very interested. I bought a few BitCoins with my savings.

I have two questions. What is the best place to store my BitCoins? Is there a best software to use?

I am being forced to type letters at the top when I send a PM, is there any way to turn this off?

Blockchain along with 2FA is fairly secure, although offline wallets are the best. I'd recommend you MultiBit.

Second, as a Newbie, just enter in the captcha. As you use the forum more often you won't need to do this.

You said you bought few Bitcoins with your savings , could you tell us where are you storing them for the moment ? so we can tell you and suggest you more .
If you are using Online wallets then simply drop them.

I bought them from my coinbase account. They took it from my bank account directly. They are still there. how do I get them out of an online wallet?

Alright , Let's gets started I hope I will be useful for you .
Coinbase is an Online wallet , same thing goes for Blockchain.info which is another online wallet . Using Offline wallet is more secure . An example is Electrum wallet : https://electrum.org/  , Once you download it and install it and you setup it , they will give a 12 words seed (check the picture) , save those words in your mind, piece of paper , .txt file in USB or something . those word will be your key to your wallet in case of a computer failure (so you don't lose your coins)

Now to get your BTC from the Coinbase wallet simply go to "Withraw" page (Pretty sure there is one) , It will ask you for a Bitcoin adress , simply paste there your Electrum wallet adress and withraw . (You will find your adress on the Receive tab , check the screen below)

Do note share your Private keys / Seed of 12 words because they are everything . If you share them with someone you will get stolen.

NO, don't use blockchain wallet, just look at all the "my blockchain wallet was hacked" stories out there, it used to be good.
Try one of the HD wallets like Wallet32 or Mycelium.

Whatever wallet you decide to use make sure you have 2fa setup and don't store more than you can afford to loose, just about every online wallet provider has probably been hacked at least once by now.
I would say $50 worth of BTC is about the max you would want to keep online, throw the rest on a paper or hardware wallet and just top up your online account when needed.

Where did you buy your coins from and what wallet have you got them stored on now?

welcome to bitcointalk
the best option is desktop wallet if you want to use them anytime you want or you can store them in paper wallet
for desktop wallet choose the light version of wallet like multibit, armory so you won't need to download big blockchain

You can say that about any desktop wallet as well. Plenty of people losing their coins from them. Blockchain.info is perfectly good as long as you don't enter your details into a phishing site and keep your computer safe (and if you don't your coins from your desktop wallet will just as easily go missing).

thanks guys. I think I will listen to LitecoinMyAss because he seems like someone I can trust.

You should check his trust on his profile first.

if you want an online wallet try bockchain.info and be sure to enable 2FA
if you want desktop wallet try Electrum or multibit, you can find their threads here and also on bitcoin.org

Welcome to the forum, you cant turn off that captcha, but it will go away with rise of your activity , if you get active on the forum, its made to lower amount of spam from newcomers.

Don't store your coins online.

Rather keep it locally, it's safer.

Definetly localy, and offline at all times except when u need to make a transaction, i still use bitcoin client, dont know why people run away from it to alternatives,i dont mind blockchain sync's.

cheers
