Well, it seems to me that the hackers who stole a shitload of coins have started running out and so now they are looking to get some more. Of course if they are less successful in getting more, then they can't spend them and continue to drive down the price.

Chineses exchanges are getting "hacked" by their owners to take whatever is left before the FINAL CHINESE BAN gets declared.

Mt Gox should be on the list. The police say it was an inside job, but Mark Karples says it was hacked. One way or the other it's definitely closed for good now. I'm surprised you missed it out considering it was the biggest exchange out there a year or two ago.

Being in different countries and people laundering money in bitcoin also keeps them away from people following on cases and filing cases against them

Gox was more than 1 year ago.

Can't say if it can be considered recent

In the bitcoin time frame, it would be considered recent.

Well the amateur hour starts to subside it seems! Sure, for us who are in midst of this at the moment, it's painful to watch and it sure is frightening, but this is part of the growing pains. Shady exchanges need to disappear and only top-notch solutions can remain in such a delicate field.
