I have some news about April 15th. The IRS is overloaded. They have lost another 5000 investigators and have their hands beyond full dealing with bad returns. Many of the problematic returns are from people who did not buy insurance and who did not understand that they must pay a penalty. They calculate that they can't get to them all. I have read that something like 50% of employees at the IRS are nearing retirement. Does this sound like they are about to crack down on bitcoin? Or does it sound like they have no time for that right now.  |

I'm no tax accountant but wouldn't some Americans cash out some of their BTC to both pay their taxes as well as recording losses for next year? The tax man will take it from wherever he can get it. It's tax time in Canada as well. |
