Hi folks,

I posted earlier in the signature ad campaigns overview thread run by Mitche?? and had my post deleted.  My post was a criticism of the spelling of a coin which seemed to have a typo in it.  I posted the criticism rather tersely so I supposed that perhaps the moderator merely looked very fast at my post and didn't understand that it had value (perhaps didn't know what "[sic]" means, or something like that).  So, I reposted it in the thread with a quote and with a longer explanation of my criticism.  Surprisingly, I found this second post also deleted.

Now, I don't know why this is happening as I'm not used to having posts deleted (except occassionally from the self-moderated threads where some OP is outlawing any criticism of his product).  But as far as I can tell, the Overview thread isn't supposed to be self-moderated (although now that Miche?? is staff, perhaps it is effectively self moderated).

What I want to know is this: how can I tell who is deleting my posts and what reason they have deleting them.  If they merely don't like my criticism, that's pretty reprehensible.  If I'm breaking the rules in some way, then I need to know that in order to stop perpetrating it in ignorance.

I reposted my deleted content in my own thread where (hopefully) it won't be deleted again.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Maybe your posts was deleted on the context of being "off-topic". That is my guess there are provably other reasons.

Ok, thanks for the guess.  I suppose one could make an argument that my comment about the name of a coin is "off topic" but I think it's pretty hard to sustain that if you look at the overview thread.  It's full of all kind of discussion of all kinds of things relating to coins and altcoins and just about anything else that might be connected to an ad campaign.  To me, the fact that a coin or company has what seems to be an obvious typo in their name is quite relevant to how serious they are, which is relevant to whether they will be around in a month to pay me, so that's very relevant to their sig campaign.

Nevertheless, the question remains: how do I find out who deleted my posts and on what grounds?

You can find out if the mod tells you. In this case, me. I deleted your 2 posts while acting on reports from various members. Off-topic was the reason.

Haven't browsed that particular thread much but if you see off-topic posts, report them and they'll be handled accordingly.

Posts about the moderation of the forum are off topic unless they are in meta. Threads about the moderation of the forum are misfiled unless they are in meta.

If you wanted to claim that a moderator was deleting/editing posts in an effort to scam then you could post in scam accusations, and this would be the only exception to the above rule.

The thread you created in service discussion will likely be moved to meta. The 2nd post about the moderation of the forum you posted in the overview of signature campaign threads will likely be deleted by a moderator.

To directly answer your question, you cannot know who deleted your posts as the system is directly setup to prevent that to prevent harassment of the moderators. The reason any post would get deleted would be that it broke some rule of the forum, if you want a more specific reason then that then you would need to create a thread here (in meta)

I think this answers both the specific question of this topic and answers the 'root cause' question as to why you created the topic

Mitche??, is this related to your new powers as staff?  If not, what's going on here?  I'm not used to having my posts deleted from non self-moderated threads and as far as I can tell, this is supposed to be a public thread.

Someone locked the thread where I was posting the deleted material (why?).  So I apparently have to post it here.

So, what's the deal then?  A moderator seemingly has decided that there shall be no criticism of ocupy [sic] coin in the overview thread!?  I don't get it at all.

Apparently I can't even put this content into a thread in services discussion because it was moved here, where no one looking at services discussion will see it.

It was locked because you already have this thread open.

When you make useless shit posts that increases the likelihood of getting your posts deleted, this includes posts like your example, if it really bothers you that much you could PM them or edit another post of yours to add a note in it for the OP because otherwise a lot of people including me will just think you're trying to bump up your post count by posting one liners and complaining about trivial things. If you don't want people to think you're just spamming, then have an actual conversation with them, the vast majority of the time I see people spam they're always talking to themselves and they always use one liners trying to disguise them as 'clever' observations.

You are more likely to have deleted post by having a paid signature as many moderators or community as a whole see it as signature spam which contributes nothing to the topic. If you are going to say something unrelated to the topic being discussed, create a new topic in the appropriate section.

As said in your other topic, I cannot delete posts in my overview thread. I'm a moderator in the Dutch subforum, which means that I don't have any powers or rights anywhere else. Outside the Dutch subforum, I'm just a regular member. People deemed your post off-topic, as stated by Cyrus, and he responded to those reports accordingly (in this case, removing them). I have nothing to do with that.

This just seems like a case of someone not knowing the rules. Surprising that its a Sr. Member account though, figured he'd get it by now.
