So I was looking to buy my first Bitcoins, which turned out to be a bit more of a monumental task that I expected!

I did some reading around and discovered the MTGox exchange, but I was hesitant to do any sort of direct bank transfers. They also use Dwolla as a payment service so I went ahead and started up an account there and put some money in.

My deposit clears fine but now Dwolla informs me that I have to wait 30 days before I can send it to MTGox! What a pain. I just want to turn this money into BTC.

Further investigation landed me on this forum. Is this the place to make that sort of trade? Will it even be possible with Dwolla's restrictions? What's your take on this?

Thanks!

You can find people here willing to sell bitcoins or mt.gox usd codes for Dwolla. Or after 30 days, you can send to CampBX which has fast deposits and withdrawals (probably because it is an American company). A quick search of Dwolla wil yield several threads where Dwolla is being traded.

You can also check out bitcoin-otc, but it has a steeper learning curve.

Yes I ran into the same issue.  It's so frustrating that they don't warn you of this ahead of time.  It took about four days just to get verified and get my 200 USD transferred in from my bank and then I find this mess that requires that I wait an additional 30 days just to purchase some bitcoins.  It sounds like this forum is a good place to make a transaction for some bitcoins with other users, but there's a newbie waiting period here too!  Such is life I suppose.

I have used Dwolla in the past successfully and the only problem was that it took a week to get money in and out. Recently they insisted that I send them a scan of my drivers license. I chose to close my account instead.

Looking to do this again - $300 Dwolla to BTC at a reasonable discount.

Still not enough posts to post in the big boy forums, so I'm posting here until I do =)

New poster here in the same boat, got 500$ dwolla and nothing to do with it for the next month. There really should be a warning or something about this somewhere on MtGox or Dwolla. Anyone interested in exchanging for MtGoxUSD? I'm so frustrated trying to get money into MtGox I'll even trade at a 1:1 rate.

Looking to trade:
(my) $155 Dwolla -> (your) BTC/MTGox

PM or post here and we'll work it out =)

Posting here again since MTGox/BTC <--> Dwolla thread isn't yielding much. Maybe this will catch someone's eye!

I have used bitcoin.de using a moneybookers account and found the process relatively simple;

the bigger headache is now concerning my wallet;

at present i am using an online "bitcoin bank" ;

it's a small amount, but that is definitely not the safest place; need to investigate either using Electrum or Armory in offline mode.
