A unified body makes an easy target for someone wanting to throw a wrench in the bitcoin machine, but thousands of private users on their own computers are more or less impossible to stop entirely, be it via legal or technological attacks or what have you.

A union what for? Who's being oppressed by a powerful oppressor that requires the organisation of the masses? No - not a union. Maybe an "Association" - but then why? What professional standards do we have to uphold? What advocacy do miners need?

The one change I would make is to have pools not incorporate transactions with 0 fees on them.  This wouldn't hurt the pools' payouts because the pools themselves are solving enough blocks that they could include their own transactions in their solved blocks for free, but they wouldn't take anyone else's for free.  Getting people used to fees now is better for the network in the long run.  Note that I'm not suggesting .01 as a minimum fee; that's probably too large.  But it needs to be something.

mainly market cooperation meant. ie, interaction w/traders etc.
