I thought Star Citizen was basically going to be an updated version of
Freelancer (with some rpg elements thrown in there) but as soon as I learned about the micro-transaction aspect I was like, "$100+ for a ship?! REALLY?! Fuck this!"
Lately, I've been considering playing
Allegiance again. I didn't know it went open source after Microsoft dropped it, otherwise I never would've stopped playing it.
Microsoft killed both these great games (Allegiance and Freelancer) by discontinuing support. I'll admit, neither game was perfect. What either game was lacking, the other game had. Freelancer had an immense open world, but had nothing really substantial beyond that to offer high level players. Allegiance was quite the opposite, having a relatively small universe with nothing to do other than (EPIC) team battles.
<edit> Ok, so nvm about Allegiance that game is so dead now.
