They price btc at a price lower than or = to btc-e, and significantly lower than bitstamp.
There selection and prices are worse than others.
I was going to purchase some btc today and buy an item there, but I will lose money on buying btc (due to their undervalue of btc) and lose money on their items which are priced higher than their competitors.
It is a shame really as I'd rather support them, but I am not overpaying because they undercut btc value.  Even if I caught btc in an upswing, it would have to me more than $9 form my purchase price to break even......

I think it all has to do with the payment processor they use and which exchange that processor is tied to.

Try provident metals instead.

...

I have bought from both Provident and Amagi, paying with Bitcoin.

ONCE from Amagi (their shipment was very slow in my case: almost two weeks).

Twice from Provident.  Fast & professional, with nice low prices.

They use Bitpay and GoCoin as processors, so they don't set the BTC price themselves.

I just made a test order and the BTC exchange rate was slightly higher (by few cents) compared to BitStamp.

Maybe OP was just unlucky with timing?

And I like their style:

AM have official thread so it's best to ask any questions directly there:

Thank you for checking out AmagiMetals.com - as some other replies have stated, our Bitcoin price is aggregated from Bitpay. They take an average of several exchanges to set their price. You can read more about that here: https://bitpay.com/bitcoin-exchange-rates

As far as our selection, we pride ourselves in our simplistic approach. If you are looking for a particular piece, please let us know. Questions can be sent to support@amagimetals.com and will promptly be answered. Thanks.
