USB miner

So, I'm getting more and more involved with mining and investing in coins.  I just got my bitcoin core up and running and my next question is this.  To get started with mining at home I thought I'd purchase a usb scrypt miner but understandably despite my own research I don't recognize anything compelling.  Is there anyone who would hazard a recommendation?  Since mining for BTC with these things seem out of the question, perhaps I will mine another coin(s) and sell them for BTC. I appreciate your help

maybe if i am not wrong then your small usb miners produce 200-300mhps.and with the current difficulty rate this much production is not sufficient.better you try dogecoin mining

Yup. You'll lose more money in running electricity than you'd make with them. Unless you have free electricity, there's no point, and even then, they'll bring in fractions of a penny. They're a nice little thing to play around with when you're new to mining, but unless you're targeting a very new or low profile SHA256 coin, there's not much point.

Although you will most likely end up loosing money with them (even if you mine in a pool) they can still be a fun thing to run.  I started out with three U2s (sha256 miners though) and they were a blast to set up.  Of course, I haven't made my money back on them but now I have bigger miners that can compensate for their losses.  You might not make money, but the learning experience is worth it in my opinion.

past block 42000 approx we will be mining only transaction fees

mining a couple of xaucoin now whilst block rewards are still available might payoff in the future
