Our initial target audience was not bitcointalk, it was HackForums. But Omnicoin is expanding greatly, and we are posting this thread to expose the members here of this currency, which is on the rise once again.

Nice coin.My only concern is scrypt.this coin is going to get raped hard by a few rich miners who own big asics and just manipulate the market continously making it a p and d coin.Scrypt really bad choice in my opinion.but thats just one opinion .Wish you all the best with coin.Also your are at block 150k+?The premine is alittle large

indeed scrypt is a bad choice, price will be dumped hard by the big miners, once price reached rock bottom, people will start leaving this coins, this is why new scrypt coins doesnt stand a chance nowadays

We didn't premine at all. The coin was released 5th April 2014 at 12:00:00 UTC, as stated in the PreANN thread. It is used a lot in the hackforums marketplace since its released, which was the initial target audience.

indeed scrypt is a bad choice, price will be dumped hard by the big miners, once price reached rock bottom, people will start leaving this coins, this is why new scrypt coins doesnt stand a chance nowadays

It isn't really a new coin, and already has a solid grounding. We realize that there may be better choices, but we aren't prepared to change to POS or similar at this point. We will stick with Scrypt, but thanks for your concern

I can confirm this was the member who originally thought of the idea, although not technically the creator of this specific coin. And as said, it was launched months ago, you can start using it straight away!

Yeah, the Omnicoin team spent a year developing infrastructure instead of hyping the coin.  Appears the team is more interested in having it working and stable than simply pushing up the price to unreasonable levels.

If this gets on larger exchange maybe it can begin to gain traction for other usage.  HF is a massive community and despite its reputation the user base is huge.
