Some one has to pay for that. And it's not the police department.

I recommend using Clonezilla to start a drive clone each night right before bed and allow it to finish while you are sleeping.

Hopefully now they will purchase a new quality anti-virus system. Should have done earlier. A $5 / year Kasper might have saved their $500.  Grin

Typical stuff. These kinds of services (law enforcement/justice) rely daily on computers and IT. But when it comes to building a secure system for user databases or to hire technicians, everyone goes the cheap way because "even a small laptop works" and because "we don't need IT technicians, we'll just hire someone who can install stuff here and there". When problems happen... Well, one can see what's the result.
