Any Quiet or Silent Miners Above > 400Gh/s

I am in the market for some miners but since I am mining in my home my #1 concern is the noise.

I currently have an S3, at first it was really loud but now its ok, I guess I got used to it.

Then I got an KNCMiner Jupiter and love how its silent, very bad on power but its silent so I am happy.

Just wondering what other, modern not ancient miners are out there that hash at least 400Gh/s and don't make a lot of noise.

I looked at the Terraminer, S4, S5, SP20 and those are all crazy loud.

Avalon4 is apparently fairly quiet, certainly compared to the S5/SP20 but I don't know how it would measure up to an S3's volume. Might check some reviews.

If you duct-tape some X1s together you can make a >400GH miner that's quiet, but that seems like a stupid idea. You could get a 4-stack of BTCGarden AM-V1, would run a little over 600GH and the fans on them aren't too bad I think. Not the best W/GH, but that can be improved with hardware tweaks.

the s-3 can be made as quiet as the avalon 4.1

with 1 silverstone fan 141mm as a pull . and the stock as a push.  and down clocked to freq 200 giving you about 400gh

Most likely C1 is one of the quietest miners I have had as it uses water cooling(Most quit was the asicminer USB's but they are so little power now).  I would go for SP20 or S5 though over it and deal with the extra noise.

C1 is quiet I have 2 just beside me and I'm watching tv. But they don't use the last generation chip from Bitmain like the S5.

The C1 will be quite a bit cheaper.

I also want to suggest SP20 or S5 again.  I suggest having a spot to have put miners where sound is not a issue.

Bitcrane Silent Miner and Bitmain's C1 are about as quiet as you can get.

Avalon 4.1 is really quiet. Check on ehash.com 

I got a S5, a Avalon4 and 2 S1 (waiting for my SP20) and the Avalon 4 is the quiet one!

I have a two Dragon miners 1th/s which was a little noisy so I replaced the fans with 2 x Arctic F12 PWM 120mm fans off ebay and they are as quiet as a really quiet thing that's being extremely quiet

I am pretty sure they use watercooled Hashfast boards, so I doubt they will be making many more of them (BitCrane) so whatever stock they have is about all they got I imagine.

"Customer Appreciation" batch customers (people who paid in November 2013) are getting their bonus 2-for-1 Neptunes now, so if someone is selling one you could get a brand new one in its original box (which was well packaged for shipping).

Avalon4 is significantly quieter than an S3, you can literally make them noiseless at 25C and stock clocks. AM-V1s are pretty loud, louder than most other things in the same generation.

They're not quiet, there's pretty powerful fans on those radiators.

I have a Neptune from the very first batch (also known as the "Customer Appreciation" batch) and have been running it 24x7 since 2014-07-12... so over 7 months solid at the time of writing.

I use high quality power supplies: 3x Corsair AX1200i, each PSU powers two Neppy modules (except the third PSU which powers one module plus the controller). This may seem OTT but I'm expecting my bonus Neptune soon, so I'll only need to buy two more AX1200is to power it, making 5x AX1200i PSUs powering two Neptunes (10 modules). The AX1200i PSUs do have an "issue" because they have Over Current Protection... so they actually don't work with the Neptune without using 2-to-1 PCIe Y-connectors. Choice of PSU is up to you.

Right from the start I used 2-to-1 PCIe cables (purchased from Cablez on this forum), to avoid overloading a single PCIe cable from the PSU. That is, two PCIe cables from each PSU go to a 2-to-1 PCIe Y-connector which then connects to the Neppy module.

I have never had a problem.

I'm no fan of KnCMiner, they used and abused us to fund their Datorhalls, and they should have put two PCIe connectors on each module... etc, etc. But if you use quality PSUs (don't overload them) and 5x 2-to-1 PCIe Y-connectors you should be ok. The PCIe cables to my Neppy modules don't even get warm (probably thanks to the Y-connectors), but then I'm a safety nut and I don't even overclock it - I have kept the clock speed standard as issued. Even at standard, the power efficiency is excellent at around 0.58 J/GH.

I'm just saying I don't see any reason why you shouldn't buy a second-hand Neptune if you want to.

Usually, its the fan who is the one making the noise, just remove it and use a external fan.

I don't care much how many people haven't had problems with them bursting into flames. I would never in good conscience recommend anyone buy any piece of hardware designed to draw 400W from a single PCIe 6-pin jack.

+1. 300W is the absolute limit in my opinion, and even that can cause failures in a lot of lower end power supplies and even a few gold rated supplies
