I don't see a reason for the 'moved' threads. 

The URL for the thread doesn't change, so if someone enters the URL for a thread after it is moved, it still goes to the right thread, just in the different section.  There is no categories or anything in the URL path.

Unintentional humor is always the best.

I don't see a reason for the 'moved' threads. 

The URL for the thread doesn't change, so if someone enters the URL for a thread after it is moved, it still goes to the right thread, just in the different section.  There is no categories or anything in the URL path. 

At the very least it helps to show people where such threads should be posted.

This is a benefit which makes moving threads useful.

Sometimes I want to go to the "lending" section to see what has been going on there, and it's nice not to see "Mt Gox scammed me!!" threads littered all over the place.
