So i just type vi /etc/cgminer.conf.template "load-balance:true" ?
Not quite. vi just calls the vi editor to open that file. To edit it you hit "i", then cursor to the appropriate place (after the first "{", IIRC) and enter the above info, also needs a comma after "true". Then hit Esc and type ":wq". I can't get screen shots at the moment, but can do once I get access again.
Look at this for reference:
https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer/blob/master/example.conf, although it will look quite differently on your screen, i.e. no nice formatting. But the info is the same.
I haven't seen Spondoolies support very active in this sub-forum, so probably it should be mentioned this probably will void your warranty. Also, whilst this works on mine, I'm not saying it will on yours.
