Uhh, wouldn't a hack explain this best? Someone gets unlimited fiat on the exchange somehow and buys up all coins at any price to get them off?

That's exactly what I was about to speculate. Hope that's not what happened.

Or an account with alot of USD got hacked and all the USD was used to buy BTC, then withdrawn.

Or someone with a big USD balance fat fingered it..

Ok, this must be a hack:

A: Someone got access to some wealthy account and bought all the BTC he could get in order to withdraw it to himself
B: Someone hacked the trading system and buys BTC with "infinite" USD supply to withdraw all bitcoins to himself
C: Some Bot has fucked up big time
D: BTCe.com has some internal problems with their system and will reset everything tomorrow
E: Some chronically underpaid btce.com employee buys his ticket for neverending holidays on luxury island right now, holiday starting: tomorrow
F: ..?

In any case, if you sell all your USD for BTC now, they will likely not be able to pay you out tomorrow Wink

One LTC = 0.5USD at btc-e

I think someone has infiltrated btc-e server.

All the litecoins were bought up as well, up to 0.5$/LTC (which is a rough 8x increase)

Hmmm...my LTCs were bought.  I'm assuming, unless everything is gone, that there'll be rollback.

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.

OK, lets calculate: How much of this is hitting MtGox in order to cash out in USD?

bitcoincharts.com shows ~50k BTC during the heist (which may be withdrawn successfully) --> anything on the blockchain??

Further 3-4k BTC in the aftermath, probably some lucky traders trying to make a killing and cash out in BTC, USD or LTC.

It is questionable if any of this even leaves btc-e.com in the first place, if so the big sum probably will be laundered and maybe dumped on MtGox, or held for some time, because to actually withdraw that amount, it has to go through some bank account after all.
