I'm curious -- do the supposed "features" of a coin really make a difference anymore?  I mean I've seen so many cool technologies advertised - but have yet to see any coin go just a little mainstream with people using the cool "features."

Or is it that there is the hope that one of these coins will catch on?  I'm still seeing BTC and LTC as the coins actually being used mainstream (although I'm surprised LTC has been able to hang on).

If I had to pick a coin with long term mining profitability -- it would be something like 42.  Only because it goes through cycles of the low 4's to a pump near 6 almost every month or two.  If you mine it when it has a low difficulty - hang on to it - you are almost guaranteed to make a good profit long term.

I've also seen NVC as a very stable long term mining coin.  It is always more profitable to mine than LTC.  The difficulty doesn't fluctuate much - so you can put a lot of hash on it and not worry about the crazy difficulty reset cycles.

I'm only familiar with Scrypt coins -- so I'm sure there is a lot more excitement in the other algos.
