I have received a PM from kalgecin to lend him 0.8BTC for 7 days with his account as collateral.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=112313

How much is his account really worth?

I have PM'd funtotry and is waiting for a reply.

I also asked him to sign an address from funtotry's quoted address for signature campaign.
I also requested him to lower the amount to 0.5

Should I be cautious and reject it? Or should I proceed with the loan?

This was before I had control. Dont give it to him ( I have the account)
Ignore it, I took the 0.8 loan and sadly it looks like his account was hacked.

That settles it. Smiley

No loan.

I hope he didn't lend full 0.8 Sad

So he has 1BTC total loan?  Shocked

Is the collateral worth even 0.5BTC?

It is probably worth a good 1 BTC however it is generally best to lend only a small fraction of the value of the account if you are taking the account as collateral. The reason for this is because there are risks involved in taking accounts as collateral as well as the fact that accounts can sometimes take a while to sell.

I offered to lend him .35 prior to me being aware that he has an outstanding loan, and while also asking for a signed message confirming ownership of his account (which he was unable to provide). I have subsequently confirmed that he is an alt of tacoman71

Disclaimer: He asked 1+BTC even after he got 0.2BTC. When I mentioned about it, he changed it to 0.8BTC but I didn't have enough BTC at that time and I said I will lend you tomorrow. A few minutes later, funtrory loaned him. I had a doubt it was asked for scamming but what I had in mind was different, splitting the amount with first lender.

P.S. He refused to sign message.

Yeah, I seemed to skip the fact that he had an avatar. Yet, I thought it will be less valuable with his negative trust and warnings in his trust feedback.

He seems to have asked for a loan to almost all the people in the Lending section, lol. Tongue

Locking this thread. Thank you for the replies. Smiley
