I know what they are trying to get at, stop new users from spamming the threads but i also think it is kinda pointless because we have to waste our time on these newbie threads for a while before we can get to the "big boiii" threads. I think all new members should be given a chance to post on all the threads and if they fuck it up by spamming or something else, they should be kicked to the newbie threads until they know more about the bitcointalk newtwork.

I believe this is a reasonable restriction which helps to prevent people from spamming and trashing on forum.

Your argument
we have to waste our time on these newbie threads for a while before we can get to the "big boiii" threads.

You can go to the other thread, you just can't post there yet.  There's a difference.

For exceptions, there is a whitelist request thread.  If you can show that you've helped others here, have been constructive in some manner, or have a specific need then often that will help towards gaining post access to the forums.

I made an account here a year ago and this wasn't here. I don't mind it. People are still helpful on this board.

I dont really mind. Ive been on a lot of forums where theres no reason to post in the "intro" thread. At least now theres incentive ;-)

I dislike the current system strongly. There are still people on the internet who'd never post stupid questions but rather lurk, then lurk some more and finally submit only a few well thought-out contributions. At the moment I really can't motivate myself to create meaningful content in a spammy sub-forum just to increment my post count. There are more pleasant activities to waste time on. Getting back to the lurk cave.

I found other threads outside the newbie forum where I could add something constructive.

It were be awesome if a better solution could be found. How do other big sites solve this?

It's lame, but something in place at these forums is probably a good thing.

Its not that bad, other sites require you are on the site for a week sometimes. And it keeps the spam out.

If you just look around Newbies, it's a mess. Most of the spam and garbage and trolls with 1-post accounts saying "positive paypal trade" doesn't make it to the rest of the board, and that's good.

I dont know about everyone else, but I only looked at bitcoins because paypal is possibly the single worst company for customer service and addressing issues.

Well, if you put all new accounts into a subforum and force them to post, then you're obviously getting a mess. Maybe you're co-creating something that wouldn't exist otherwise. (See? In my right mind I wouldn't make such a pointless circular argument, but the voices rules made me do it. Second post, heading north.)

I think all new members should be given a chance to post on all the threads and if they fuck it up by spamming or something else, they should be kicked to the newbie threads until they know more about the bitcointalk newtwork.
So the volunteer moderators should be on top of every thread in the forum with a "ban to newbies" hammer at the ready?
I dont think they get paid enough

What I have noticed is people with good projects or comment be whitelisted from this forum early

Think on it 1 forum to watch over and the ability to set ppl "free early" or heavily moderate all the threads and weild the ban hammer of relegation?
hmmm

When the mods get paid nothing...to me it makes a pretty obvious choice Smiley

No, it was a mess before the Newbie jail was enforced. Lots of spam etc
