Just an idea, maybe it would be a good idea to have any member who has an active loan to mention that on their personal message spot and to whom the btc is owed to.
No amounts need to be mentioned just something lile.

Personal message: I .... have a outstading loan with ....
Just thought it may help lenders giving a loan to someone who already has a outstanding loan, although this would be hard to police.
Any thoughts on this?

Edit: After feedback from other members the personal message idea won't work.

The new idea of leaving neutral feedback stating that a loan has been taken and from whom has been implemented.
You can check my trust profile for an example.

Your right they would just remove it.
Another option is for the lender to leave netrual trust stating a loan is active, the lender could then change that to positive or negative once the loan is repaid, neg trust if not repaid.

Untrusted feedback is collapsed by default. Lender may still send BTC by checking trusted feedback. Only such feedback from people in DefaultTrust(depth 0-2) can be seen by default and be successful from preventing.

But many lenders don't usually state the outstanding loan in the loanees' trust! After checking loanees' trust, they search the forum with the loanees' name and their posting history as well to see if there are any suspicious activities related with them!

Yup, I think it would be impossible to implement.

It would be better if the lender were to send a neutral trust feedback as soon as they fund the loan saying that they have a loan outstanding along with the terms of the loan. There are plenty of reasons why a borrower's personal text area would not be available.

Exactly what I was going to say. Just leave it as a feedback. People will almost certainly check a persons feedback first before loaning them money so this is the perfect place to put it. This feature isn't needed in my opinion.

Your right they would just remove it.
Another option is for the lender to leave netrual trust stating a loan is active, the lender could then change that to positive or negative once the loan is repaid, neg trust if not repaid.
Once i realised the personal message would just be removed by the member i thought of this idea.
If you read the whole thread you would have seen that MZ and myself have already discussed this option.

If it is implemented, the potential loanees are incentivized to buy reputation. Cos they know once the loan is repaid, they will get possitive feedback!

I like this idea.. loans should be stated as a neutral feedback in a person's profile.

Not exactly, if the lender dosen't want to leave any feedback good or bad they don't have to.

When a loan is taken out the lender can leave netural feedback on the loanee's profile stating that the member has a outstanding with them, once the loan is repaid they can change that to possitive trust feedback if the loan is repaid in full and on time or just delete the netural trust they left regarding the loan altogether.
Nobody is talking about buying trust here.

I left an example on Bitkilo's trust as an example of what we are talking about with this idea.

Just take a look at it I'm not familiar in this section of the forum at the moment but I will by time to time. Looks like a great idea so if that person ask for another loan would be great info to any potential borrower. Keep the good job guys.
