Hey guys struggling to find any kind of support for Authenticator so thought I would ask here, my app suddenly wont allow to me scan a barcode.  I goto set up a new account, press scan barcode & nothing happens.  This is on Andriod, been working fine for years, anyone come across a similar problem or can find some kind of support for it?

its only for adding a new account, existing accounts works fine.  Some sites let you set up an account manually by entering a key, but was just trying to get bitmain setup & thats barcode only.  So I guess no S5's for me today

Google Authenticator uses an external app to scan codes. What app are you using?
Is it QR Droid by any chance?

If so just uninstall and reinstall it (QR Droid).

There's a known issue happening on some devices. That will be fixed this week.

Re-installing QR Droid won't affect your auth. keys.
Do not uninstall Google Authenticator.

Which site are you using? Some of them are time based and some of them aren't. Make sure to choose the correct one. Another possibility is that your time is not correct and as a result, you are getting wrong codes. Choose 'Automatic' in clock settings and wait for it to update and check again. If you are still wrong, disable the '2FA' in the site and activate it again. Some sites refresh codes if your first or first X attempts are wrong.

Good to know!
It happened to me, but I fixed it setting the computer screen at maximum brightness.

Then it was not the same issue, but good it was solved.

@OP
FYI the new version of QR Droid fixing this issue is now published.

There is no easy way to back up google authenticator either AFAIK. Make sure to use two devices or take a pic of the qr code and save it somewhere safe.

@ThEmporium
Try Settings > Time correction for codes > Sync now
alternatively, there is an Android app ClockSync to help you synchronise clocks.

Happened to me once or twice.
This is related to the time correction. If your device and the site has a time lag, you would miss the correct code by few seconds.

To rectify, go to your GA app settings and you should see an option for 'time correction'. Tap it and select 'Sync now'.
Once it is synced, you should be able to use the app just fine.
