Can Blockchain Technology really be used in such specific areas as bio-weapons access restriction?

Read this article where it says that it could be a solution and possibly save lives. What do you think?

Interesting concept, but I don't think any high secure facilities will be very keen to tie access control with decentralised blockchain (something they don't have control over). Maybe as an additional layer of security.

That's true, especially for the government institutions - I can't imagine decentralised security control in prison, for instance.

Blockchain technology can work wonders, have you heard about Ethereum?

Ethereum is amazing, someone compared it to invention of the Internet.

They say "a federal investigator of the facility was found to be exposed to the bacteria 24 hours after he visited the facility".

What happened to the guy I wonder - did he actually catch the disease?

What if the blockchain gets infected by the eBola virus...  Grin *joke.

I would not trust anything as important as that to a public decentralized system. I think the technology they are refering to is Multi sig access control...

"Moreover, recent innovations in Bitcoin such as Multi-sig, which requires a general consensus over multiple key holders to sign a transaction or a contract, can also help to remove the single-point failure. In the multi-sig model, any action requires m number of digital signatures out of n based on the user’s agreement. Otherwise the action cannot be performed on the blockchain. This way, access control is decentralized, removing a single potential point of failure, and can also be tracked in the blockchain. Moreover, this model would reduce leakage of data, information and access in any secure facilities and laboratories."

Multi sig can be incorporated into current access control systems.

let's not decentralize the ability to access sensitive destructive technology.  the world is wildly unpredictable as it is right now.

I think yes. Blockchain, is one of the best technologies, like other applications, it will only be soon that it will be adopted in different areas and will find different uses.
Thats why people are now investing millions in this tech.

I agree with that. I forsee many possible ways it can be used for other things. Why hasn't voting been implemented already ?

New cool uses of blockchain technology are already being developed by these guys.

Yes, I've read about them and what they're doing is amazing.

Well organized companies are already using multisig since ages. Mostly on paper, or in person but nowadays even as work-flow applications.

The applications of the blockchain are unlimited. Just lol if you aren't on Bitcoin yet. Bitcoin will forever be the original usage of the blockchain and always have a historical value.

Well was looking around for something interesting this isn't too bad an idea
Also learned about some interesting viruses
In regards to confirming you want to do something a multi-sig can easily do the task so yah it can be used in Biohazard scenarios

Believing in Bitcoins and it's ability to change the world

True, it is amazing in how many areas you can use blockchain technolog, not only Biohazard scenarios.
