As the system is now, everything works through the internet. Debit cards, VISA, etc, all rely on the internet. You'd need to have cash or beaver pelts.

so we need some physical bitcoin? No, bitcoin would have to work on a different type of network if the internet somehow died forever.

I'm sure someone more informed will post soon enough.

Wouldn't BTC obviously die without internet? There would be no way to keep it decentralized as far as I can see. Also, no internet would mean going back to overpriced porn mags and DVDs.

The scenario of not having internet is not even possible.
1. Energy companies provide constant monopoly cash flow 2. Internet / Phone Service providers love it as well
= always going to be electricity, plus internet.

Beaver pelts Well I would say you need to have cash or gold nearby although it wasn't that long ago really only 20 years since most people lived without the internet in their lives in the West, I guess we would go back to blockbusters and movie theaters go bowling check out the pool more to hangout with people our age/ parks and live more filling productive lives while socializing and reading books and novels in library's and talking with others Whistle As for the OP well if the internet was that dead we have bigger issues at hand but the full blockchain would still be kept somewhere on one of many nodes.

If the internet died I'll probably get a real job, get married, have two kids, build a house, plant a tree... that sort of boring stuff
Yes boring but its far more better than sit in front of your PC 15 hours / day and more healthy.

Pfft why not just use a drone we only said if there was no internet Although a real tech savvy person would have put a bug onto the PC then turn on the camera lol.

I'm with a group of people building a decentralized wireless network in Germany that could, in theory, one day act as a backup Internet. -> http://freifunk.net/en/ Nothing to do with this forum though.
