Well there were only a few originally to start with and once they started making some profit I think others thought they could do the same.
I see it kind of like the YouTube partner programme. A couple of kids did well and now every kid thinks he can be the next big thing so is creating his or her own channel.

It's a hot topic where people want to read news about btc. If you are into online marketing, you can also see that the keyword "bitcoin" has a lot of competition by advertiser to bid on it. Quite a decent amount there especially when you type the keyword "online investment", the word bitcoin will also pop up. So you might imagine the news site are doing pretty well off from the ads earning.

I find very positive the existence of several Bitcoin news sites. Because, this can cause the subject (Bitcoin) arrives faster to people who do not know.

Yeah most people probably start one for the ad revenue. There is a ton of normal news sites as well so not too strange that there is a ton of bitcoin related ones.

Exactly this. It's the same reason why there's so many faucets and bitcoin forums. They're all trying ti get their foot in the door and build fanbases so they can earn money from advertising. It's not just news sites either but plenty of people are trying to get ahead with bitcoin businesses because they can see the potential for profit in it.

I used to have a short list of Bitcoin and general crypto-related news sites in my bookmarks bar but now I see that the list has become very, very long. There is CoinDesk, CoinTelegraph, CoinsSource, Bitcoin Magazine, Altcoin Herald, CryptoArticles, CryptoCoinsNews, as well as similar sites like Let's Talk Bitcoin which have articles and news but presents the information in a show format.

I'm guessing that most of these sites profit from ad revenue since they tend to have lots of ads. So is it profitable? And does there really need to be so many news sites covering a single topic?
So I am wondering. You are sad and mad that there are a lot coverage about bitcoin and other altcoins? Or maybe you are dissatisfied with the level of articles you can find on these sites? I always thought that variety is flavor of life and when I have a wide choice I can find something for myself easier. I am happy that I am not limited to one or two news sites. That only means that bitcoin is popular!

What is making you think these sites are just making profit which is limited to themselves?
There are article writers who are getting paid in Bitcoins and if you think you are eligible to write, either open up a news site yourself or write articles for any of these and get paid in BTC. Instead of asking, you should take these as alternatives to either read or write there.

You would be right here ^^ they must make add revenue and yes if it gets enough visitors it could become very profitable imo.

Also i would say it is better the more place you can go for news even if there is a lot at least you know no single entity has a monopoly which is what you definitely do not want,..
