When someone types a post here, red lines appear underneath incorrectly spelled words. That's the spell check system and it tends to work well for the most part.

However, it's interesting (and strange) to see that certain words which are definitely correct and used a lot in these forums are still displayed as being spelled incorrectly. For example, "bitcoin" (both uppercase and lowercase) doesn't show as a valid spelling. Neither does the word "scammer" or "satoshi" (again, both uppercase and lowercase spellings).

Other words that show up as misspellings:

altcoin
ASIC
blockchain
BTC
litecoin
sidechain

Sure, it's possible to right-click and choose "Add to dictionary" to stop the squiggly lines from appearing but it seems very bizarre for a forum that's about Bitcoin to not include such words by default.

Any reason for this? I've also noticed that sometimes it insists on unconventional spellings that aren't used elsewhere.

It's not because of the forum, it is because of your browser/pc. You should understand that. It doesn't show when I use safari but when I select the word, it says the word is wrong. When I use chrome, it shows the underline. So please understand that it isn't about the forum but your browser/pc. Smiley

It is surely a problem of the browser itself and not of the forum, I think they can't do too much for fix these errors. Here some documents :

Ahh... Well now I feel a bit dumb. I thought perhaps it was a plugin for the forum or something. Didn't realize it was my computer that was causing it. I'll lock this thread now. Thanks for the answers.
