Dear Pledgers, Friends and Fans

Owing to unavoidable scheduling conflicts, the Cryptosteel team regret to announce that we are unable to commence production this month.

While we had planned to begin manufacturing the wallets during our staff’s regular time off work in the summer months, numerous unforeseen developments mean that our provisional production schedule would be delayed even if we were to begin work with heavy tools on the originally scheduled dates.

Everyone at Cryptosteel is working hard to restructure the project’s summer-time schedule in light of this delay and we wish to reassure all of our supporters that this development has no bearing on the status of your pledge. As soon as our production system is up and running, you will receive your wallet and you can rest-assured that the Cryptosteel team will keep all of its pledgers fully informed of the progress of the manufacturing phase.

Now, on to the good news!

All of the pledges and payments have finally reached the Cryptosteel bank account.

We are delighted to confirm that we received an astonishing $21,256 from a gross total of $23,209 ($1,952 were paid out to Indiegogo and PayPal in service fees) at the end of the crowdfunding campaign in standard monetary pledges alone.

In Bitcoin pledges, meantime, we amassed over 55 orders for over 100 units of Cryptosteel giving us a total of $4,060 or 18BTC. These figures are calculated at today’s valuation of $4,560 and it is worth emphasising that BTC did not cost us any money service fees. Indeed, where other fees cost the project close to $2,000 - BTC contributed an additional $500!
 Grin Grin Grin Grin

We are also pleased to announce that the wallet customisation phase is now underway. Thus supporters who pledged for 10 wallets or more will be contacted in order to send us graphic files which will be engraved on the covers of your Cryptosteels.

Finally we would like to inform you that all pledgers will be contacted with a view to confirming a delivery address prior to your order being dispatched while all those supporters who have yet to pay a delivery fee will be afforded a next opportunity to do so.

We have also opened a pre-sale at Indiegogo.com where wallets can be bought ahead of production via the InDemand option.  http://igg.me/at/cryptosteel
We have taken this step in response to numerous requests from supporters enquiring as to when the wallets will be placed on general sale online.
A Bitcoin payment option via MyceliumGEAR is still available at: www.cryptosteel.com/crowdfunding.html

Remember that you should never hesitate to contact us with any query or suggestion!

Indeed, the Cryptosteel team gratefully received a wide variety of interesting recommendations and criticisms through the course of the crowdfunding campaign which played an active role in shaping the final version of the cold wallet. We reply to everyone and value your input greatly!

And stay in touch!

Just a gentle reminder that companies who delay production/shipping are not well thought of in the bitcoin community.  A lot of people have never received the items that they have purchased.  I urge you to rethink your strategy here and make good on the $21,000 business transactions promptly.

Will there be any special characters? base64 ? Punctuation ? Separators ?  Upper and Lower Case ? Blank or user engravable tiles ?

Hello!

All Indiegogo pledgers and all Early Birds Bitcon pledgers will receive a special bunch of Tiles: Base64 and additional Base32 set of tiles.
We want to sidestep a user problem of making choice on non-existing product.
And off course we also want to discover how user will use Cryptosteel.
We are hoping that some of you will describe in details the usage of Cryptosteel device.
/Several Indiegogo pledgers never heard about bitcoin!/

At the second phase - when we launch web-shop - people will be able to choose a wallet with desired set of tiles (even Chinese, if demanded:).

How many copies of each character are included in the wallet? Will it be possible to write down a 25 word seed?

25 words? Why 25?

There're enough letters to cover 99.99%+ seeds generated (24 words of BIP39 seed).
I.e. one user out of 1000 users won't be able to store his first generated seed using given letters,
and will need to generate another seed.

So you can call yourself lucky if you won't be able to store your seed on first attempt :-).

Since there wasn't really a timeline given in the email, is there any ETA?

The first date was sometime in July, then that got moved to sometime in August.  Not sure if there are any further delays.

Yea there is no ETA from what I see. Ever since the delays, the previous timeline that was posted on indie gogo has never re-appeared or been amended. Since they are still working on tooling and manufacturing I'd guess at least another month or two.

I don't mind the extra wait, I'm just confused on exactly how long it will be. But a month or two is fine.
