As the launch of the "real" ethereum network is near I thought it would be useful to have a place to share our mining experiences.

Here we can talk about issues related to setting up a miner, including but not limited to:

* Software compatibility
* Hardware compatibility
* Hardware performance
* Mining strategies
* Developments regarding Pow/Pos
* Profitability calculations

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

I see ethereum has finally launched. Unfortunately I am in the embarrassing position of being between rigs. My old main rig has been turned into a silent pc after the graphics card fan went off the rails and my new machine won't arrive for a couple of weeks.

I am considering doing some mining on my core i3 laptop just for the lulz, but as it is what I do most of my work on it will only be for testing purposes.
