Hi everyone. As noted in this thread here I have created a redesign of the bitcoin "coin" (also known as the pancake) logo, so that it is suitable for small sizes, and universal printing etc.

Whist the ever-popular golden coin logo is great, it's hard to see at small sizes.  This redesign should allow the coin to stay visible right down to favicon sizes.  In addition, printing on t-shirts and other merchandise with the old logo is hard as it's a lot of gradients etc.  This logo is design using solid-block colours; this also means if you like, you can change the colour to your liking.  Not everyone likes orange, if you prefer a yellower looking logo, easily done, no gradients etc.
The logo will "work" in any colour, including monochrome/black on white, so it's also easier to print for black and white documents etc.

I know it looks quite simple, but this is by design (if you'll pardon the pun) - many variations were gone through and tested before I settled on these few designs here; simple is sometimes best.
Lastly, I'm presenting three different designs here, but due to the ongoing argument that is raging about Ƀ versus BTC as the proper bitcoin symbol, I'm supplying both.  I release these artworks into the public-domain under the Creative Commons licence.  I'll happily provide the vector originals in both Adobe Illustrator CS6 format as well as SVG as I can get them uploaded etc.  For now though, here are some PNG's/JPEG's to look at:

First off, the new Ƀ designs:

Without dots: http://i.minus.com/jb0xXKhwKe3vEl.jpg

And lastly a reverse orange-on-white, handy for really small usage, such as favicons or menu links:

Now a version of each of the above but with the older BTC: http://i.minus.com/jtCbgIr1nxvsp.jpg http://i.minus.com/jJCjyxJm5eNRf.jpg http://i.minus.com/jcgecNgBZ7wO3.jpg

And lastly a couple of "in-use" menu buttons etc to show the associated typeface design:

If anyone has any comments/suggestions, wants changes, or other things done etc. please lemme know, and if you found this useful, please feel free to throw me some coin - 1EUGrS4nRKpTtMrfbwwq4EziYpVCF8vym6  Thanks

I have added another "accepted" button without the drop-shadow - http://i.minus.com/jSoYdQGidu3BI.png

Also: Bonus Nerdy Fact - the coins with the dots on them have 58 dots (credits go to Smoovius in the IRC #bitcoin channel)

It was kind of interesting to see the design with only 1 horisontal bar as opposed to two vertical bars at top and bottom. The design with just one horisontal bar is much lighter, and can as you say easily be printed and shown even in small sizes, also it does not bear as much resemblence to the official Baht symbol for the Thai currency as the current Bitcoin logo.

I guess these logos can be used interchangeably in the future.

Does the license indicate those can be used freely for comercial purposes too ?

Perhaps you should make a site called "bitcoinlogos.com" or somesuch and offer up a variant of different logos there ?

Absolutely, that's the point of it.  Use it for whatever your hearts desires, even if that's ripping the files apart and re-creating it.  All I ask is if you're feeling generous, bounce me some coin.  Even that's voluntary.
Use it freely, source-files are a coming.

At the conclusion of the logo thread I made, Coinabul.com will be hosting all the logo source files.

It still gives me a kind of "pancake" feeling.

Yes...I included the doted design out of a sense of completion, but in truth I have to say I think the ringed version and the white-reverse version are my preferred versions now. The dots are lost on a small size in any case.  I think it also works better in other colours as well (which is sort of the point of this redesign - a logo that can work in any colour, much like the Apple logo)

These are nice. I might use the circle-BTC as the application icon for something I'm working on. I like the designs, and that the size and color are easily changed. When/Where can I get the SVG versions?

Thanks for your creative efforts! I only have a couple BTC, but I'll send a bit your way!

Thanks, always appreciated.  Sorry for the delay in getting them uploaded, but here are the two circle-versions (no-one seems to like the version with dots, myself included, but if you do, lemme know and I'll upload it as well) in SVG format.

I've also included in the SVG file, hidden at present, two versions of the Ƀ symbol, so these two files should do everything.
Bitcoin Orange
Bitcoin White

They look rather nice in yellow as well..

And since it's an SVG, if you really want, you can add gradients and shadows etc. to look like the Bitcoin of old...

Thanks and I hope these are of some use to you...

Much obliged! The yellow one above is my favorite so far. I'm not very SVG savvy, so I just open them in the GIMP and choose a resolution. I'll have to learn to manipulate SVG directly, but I think I can still alter the colors as I need. These should be perfect for a 16x16 application icon (or site favicon).

Ok Smiley Please make multilingual versions of "accepted" buttons. Particularly in russian that would be like this: "здecь пpинимaют Bitcoin" or this: "пpинимaeм к oплaтe Bitcoin"  Tongue

Russian language is quite different, "здecь пpинимaют" need to changed to "пpинимaeм к oплaтe" and do the inscription at the bottom, not the top.
Why change - just in Russian slang "здecь пpинимaют" - means the arrest by the police (detention) to some extent.  Tongue

I prefer "пpинимaeм" instead of "пpинимaeм к oплaтe". "к oплaтe" part does not add any information. It only add unwished noise on the logo.
