you also forgot Central America
Isn't that a region? It is a region and Central America (from the isthmus of Panama north) is part of North America. Great question, thanks for your participation.

... Possum577 Link to mining pool stats: https://blockchain.info/poolsEDIT: I could not figure out how to get that pie chart pasted in here, but here are some recent stats re hashing power, these figures are very similar to the ones I mentioned in a separate thread a few days ago: AntMiner: 18% China F2Pool: 15% " BTCChina Pool: 10% " BW.COM: 10% " KnCMiner: 6% Sweden GHash.IO: 4% UK? Slovakia? Ukraine? (Comment: remember when GHash.IO briefly had 51%?) BTCGuild: 3% ? Slush: 3% Czech Republic There is a separate column for "Unknowns". You can search Google and find out the country, or at least where they report from. IIRC, "5.9.xxx.xxx" is Germany and "82.221.xx.xx" is Iceland. Correct me where wrong!

Nearly half of the world population is located in Asia, so there's no contest who should come in first.

If I had to guess, I'd guess China. China has a LOT of people. Chinese people are all over these boards!
Unfortunately, this forum has been blocked by Chinese GFW. So I don't think there are lot of Chinese people in here.

I don't understand the purpose of this. What does knowing the continent tell you?
It's pretty technical, but let me try to explain it in simple terms. Knowing what continent you're from gives me a general idea of where all you fuckers are from in this world without requiring you to divulge too much detail on where you're from. Bitcoin has away of promoting anonymity. Just joking with you, it's just a simple question...like when you go to a party and strike up a conversation with someone knew and say "so, where are you from?" This is one big party, I'm meeting you for the first time...so where are you from?

I live in the Diamond Heights district of San Francisco right across the street from Glen Canyon Park.
