Meh. People have no class. If you enter a bet, you honor it, simple.

There are many, many people who value money a whole load higher than class, especially over the internet. It is the height of uncool though.

Heh, it's just Member, no escrow... what did you expect?
Even if you give him a negative feedback, a brand new account is much much cheaper than 1 BTC.

Instead, you are L e g e n d a r y. Quite a lot to lose.

Very unfair bet actually for your side.

He hasn't logged in since 22 February. That's what you get for betting a guy with 70 posts.
I'm sure if he won, he'd be all over the forum bragging and quoting that convo. Now he'll just abandon the account and look to make another bet.  Undecided

Yes of course this is obvious. Maybe it would have been better to use an escrow and everyone of you have deposited 1 btc in the escrow's address. However maybe give him a "last chance" maybe he will get back  before the end of the month.

I am sure he would have made multiple bets at different levels using his alts.
Maybe he didn't get any of those right.  Tongue

Most probably.  Cheesy

If ever OP encountered another bet like this, remember the name man. Remember that he/she still has their time to escape and never to pay the bet again. Smiley

If you didnt make the bet on a blockchain with a smart contract, it wasnt a real bet.
For the same reason money isnt real money unless its on a blockchain. Wink

This is why you use escrow for these sorts of bets. It's never official until you shake on it ie send money to escrow) but he was likely never serious anyway.

... or maybe the use of oraclize, with a sort of "bet" on blockchain using a multiSig address. This is the thread here in the forum(italian language, because it is an italian project) : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=958619.0

Without conivolge any escrow user.

There was never a chance for him to pay, he just accepted the bet so that he can take money from you if hes right, but he would of never honored the bet himself, its obvious.
There were alot of these kinds of people on btc-e chat, betting and asking when theyre right , and leaving chat and ignoring when they loose.
Escrow everything when dealing with non trusted people, let this be a lession.

cheers

Hello everyone,

Would anyone like to make a bet, without any escrow or anything, on the direction of the bitcoin price over the next 24 hours?

I will bet you 1 BTC that the BTC price on Bitfinex will be MORE than 295.00 twenty four hours from this post.  If I am right and win the bet, you can send me BTC .  If I lose I TOTALLY wont run off and just make a new account, I promise FOR REALZ!

If you want to bet, just say so!

Anyone who loses against me can send me 1 BTC at:

Anyone who wins against me can give me an address.  And I'll TOTALLY send you BTC, and not just abandon this account and laugh at the fact that you made a nonbinding bet and expected me to pay!

Cheesy

...actually I wont pay any BTC to anyone, this is clearly a joke and if you didnt understand that you completely fail at sarcasm.

Did you really expect him to payout? He was a member with not a lot of credibility who can easily just leave and never pay... In these situations if the bet is serious escrow is a must... Atleast this is a lesson learnt for next time Tongue

The fact he was prepared to use his account to make a bet against a disposable account makes a point. He was showing how certain he was about the time.
