Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Can anyone shed some light on what has happened to Britcoin.

I have 500,000 Britcoins however the daemon is now offline and so is the website.

Some information will be good!!!!!!
I'm not sure what's wrong with your daemon, Try QT-Wallet it might work. Website is working fine(I just opened it) and BRIT is still listed on Bittrex exchange so it's a good sign the coin is still alive lol..

I believe Will is with Sterlingcoin now as the development on that coin seems good compared to what was going on with Britcoin, was not happy but Sterlingcoin is better.

Out of the country coins it seems Guldencoin is the only one making real inroads, article also was released today.

The coin is not dead. We have been discussing what is happening with it here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=903578.40

It has a developer currently and they are working on fixing things up at the moment.

What a shame. Some people just making a copy past crypto just for a quick bucks then die.
