When I click "notify" on a thread, I get a javascript popup asking me to confirm, I choose OK, the page reloads but notify is not enabled for that thread. This is true on both the page itself (link still says notify) and on my subscriptions page (doesn't list any subscriptions).

I haven't received an email to validate my email address yet, and I can't see any way to request that. Do I need to do that before I can subscribe to email notifications? Will it be sent automatically at some point in the next few hours maybe?
The trust scores you see are subjective; they will change depending on who you have in your trust list.

I can confirm that it has nothing to do with validating email address.
The problem lies somewhere else.

The link never text changes, it's always "Notify" even if notify is already enabled.
What's the text of the popup the second time you click on it?

Second, there's no email to confirm your email, the forum doesn't do that.

Finally are you using hotmail? I think emails are not arriving there.

Sounds like a bug in your browser. Which browser are you using?

Never see about popup you talking about Undecided actually if you want to see the notif, just enable through click on your profile, go to "Notifications and Email" and choose "Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic." and done you enable the notification.

Thanks for all the replies.

I was finally able to figured it out. I had the "watch" option checked. Apparently it's not possible to both "watch" and "notify" a single thread. At least, not for me. Now that I've "unwatched" the thread, I'm able to "notify" it instead. I'm not sure what "watching" does, but it was not generating emails for me.

Are you sure about this? I can do both watch and notify the same thread.
Watch adds the thread to the Watchlist so you access them with a single click.
Notify sends emails to you whenever anyone posts a reply on that thread.

You're right. It's not that simple. If I "watch" first, then I can't "notify", but if I watch and notify in the same action, or if I "notify" first then "watch", it works. Strange...

By default when I created my account I was automatically "watching" all threads I posted to, which blocked me from being able to "notify" on those threads. But I could "notify" on other threads. So by unwatching and rewatching the two threads I'm now able to watch and notify on all threads.
