Hey everyone.

Was just look at https://www.spendbitcoins.com and was wondering if it is 'legit' or likely to keep my money.
I am new to buying some bitcoins and believe right now is a good time to get a couple. As I'm from Australia it makes it hard. However they take my bank, so I was wondering of the legitimacy of this?

Has anyone done business with them, if so how quick are they?

-Regards,
Merve.

It is good to do put feelers out, but Spend Bitcoins has a pretty good track record.

Here's their primary thread.

They've been operating since May, 2011 -- meaning they are long in the tooth in the Bitcoin world.

Every exchange has disruptions every once in a while, but depositing cash and getting bitcoins in exchange is a pretty straightforward practice for them.

They aren't the only method though, but for what you need their services should do just fine.

Here's a full list of exchange options:

I usually lurk on these forums so not sure if this will mean anything but I've used this service a few times.

I had attempted to purchase a Newegg Giftcard (Canada) and he was quick to respond that they wouldn't allow him to since it was a US creditcard purchasing it...I was also his first Canadian customer, he quickly offered an Canadian Amazon giftcard or a refund which I took.  I got my payment back quickly and without any hassle at all.

Before his Paypal service was temporarily shutdown I have used it twice and had no issues at all.

From BTC to paypal took a week, from BTC to AUD bank account took 2 days

Haven't bought BTC from them yet, 10% markup is too much when its just as easy to get money into cryptoxchange

I have received my payment or item from spendbitcoins within 48 hours except a physical gift card that took longer though I am sure they mailed it out within 48 hours as well.

I've used his BTC > Paypal 4 or 5 times and it's been same day, quick and easy each time. One time it got stuck or something but when I contacted him it was bumped along right away.

Its the only place ive used since starting mining in January. not exactly huge sums of money, only 49.7 coin, all to PayPal (GBP & USD at different times) and they've all been received pretty quickly, im sure most have arrived within 12h and im in the UK so were at opposite ends of the day. Only once was the wrong payment sent (got USD value, not GBP) and i PM'd him on here and he fixed it, i just refunded his payment and he sent the correct amount moments later.

Just seen his site says they're no longer supporting USD, or PayPal at all, just Aussies from what i can tell, so rather gutted about that because now it means finding somewhere new. Thats basically what im here for now, look for a reputable alternative.

Spendbitcoins is one of the most dependable names in the Bitcoin world. Unfortunately they don't service the US any more. Sad

Do not waste your time debating whether Bitcoin can work. It does work.

"Early adopters will profit" is not a sufficient condition to classify something as a pyramid or Ponzi scheme. If it was, Apple and Microsoft stock are Ponzi schemes.

There is no such thing as "market manipulation." There is only buying and selling.

I really loved their ebay purchase service, you told them what ebay item you wanted to buy, your address, and they would purchase it for you (you pay BTC). That was when they didn't support paypal I think, and I couldn't find any vanilla visa card for BTC service.

I don't know about  https://www.spendbitcoins.com Anyway you can check that site with WhoisXY.com and check whether the  information’s provided are true and whether they are trusted. If not there is a chance that it will be a scam. You can also check the website reputation and safety at http://www.webutation.net
