I sent bitcoins to my Bitcoin core wallet and have not received the coins after 4 hours. I have tried the recovery process,"blockchain.info/wallet/import-wallet" drag wallet.dat file to window, solve capcha, enter pass phrase and then get the message "connection refused". Can anyone help?

Is it fully synced? You probably have received your coins, bitcoin core just does not know about them yet. If you are using 0.10.0 this should take ~1 day depending mainly on your connection speed.

I have tried the recovery process,"blockchain.info/wallet/import-wallet" drag wallet.dat file to window, solve capcha, enter pass phrase and then get the message "connection refused". Can anyone help?

It might be a connection problem. Did you try more than once? You could also import each private key individually. See here -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=985932.msg10764059#msg10764059

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

What is your bitcoin-qt address? You can safely share it here or use this link to check whether it has received the coins:
https://blockchain.info/address/<your address>

I have had this wallet for 4-5 days now and it still says "out of sync". Is this normal? I went to "blockchain/info" and looked up my receiving address and it shows the coins as received, but still not in my wallet. It has been 4 hours since I sent the coins from my Localbitcoins.com wallet. Does it really take up to 1-2 days for this to sync up and show up in the wallet?

Depends on your connection speed. It has to download and verify ~34 GByte of data. If you click on help -> Debug Window -> Peers you should see a list of at least 8 peers. If you click on an entry it shows more information about the peer to the right. Sync Height should be at least 347500 now.

You can also check Network traffic in the same Window to see at which rate you are downloading.

You only have to download and verify each block once. If you use (or at least start) the wallet daily, syncing will be a matter of minutes unless you have a very slow internet connection.

Only the first time it takes a while to sync. That's because bitcoin-qt needs the whole blockchain to work. And that's a lot of data.
For most people having a wallet that doesn't download everything is enough. I recommend you blockchain on the web or Electrum as a desktop application.
Or you can check more options here: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

At the moment your options are:
- Wait until it syncs
- Export the private key and import it or sweep into another wallet

I have no Peers listed and no network traffic. Is this normal at this point? I have my private key but where do I find a new wallet to attach it to?

Are you sure you have the private key and not just the address? The address starts with '1'. The private key usually starts with '5'.
As I posted above you can get a wallet here:
https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

Here's a guide about how to sweep the key on blockchain (see step 3):

Well Well, I have finally seen activity with my Peers and network traffic. I hope I am on the right track. I think I will just wait this out. Thanks for all your help, I now have more tools at my disposal.   Smiley

I have waited almost 24 hours now and still nothing new. I have 1 peer and 34KB sent and 9KB received in the network traffic. It looks to be running yet as the network traffic is going up slowly. Was going to sweep to new wallet but can't find private key. I do have the address of the key but don't know how to access it. Any help?

Sounds like you have problems connecting to nodes. What happens if you write the following lines in the console? Confirm each line with enter before entering (copy pasting) the next one. Does the situation improve after ~30-60 minutes?

Code:
addnode 185.45.192.129 add
addnode 84.200.34.113 add
addnode 5.9.90.133 add
addnode 94.23.146.127 add
addnode 191.236.50.217 add
addnode 213.165.91.169 add

Was going to sweep to new wallet but can't find private key. I do have the address of the key but don't know how to access it. Any help?

unlock the wallet for 60 seconds with:

Code:
walletpassphrase My_Passw0rd 60

dump the private key for address 1xLALALA... with

Code:
dumpprivkey 1xLALALA...

Be careful, if anyone else gains access to your private key, they can spend your bitcoin.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

I have tried the node commandsI hear what you are saying but not sure what to include in the typing. I type in: dumpprivkey "my publicaddress" enter. This includes the " " where i have them. It comes back with: Error: Please enter the wallet passphrase with walletpassphrase first. (code -13) in red. So i type mywalletpassphrase dumpprivkey "my publicaddress "  in " " where I have them  enter. It comes back with:: Method not found (code -32601) in red. I type it the other way:  dumpprivkey "my publicaddress "  in " " where i have them, mywalletpassphrase enter. It comes back with:

dumpprivkey "bitcoinaddress"

Reveals the private key corresponding to 'bitcoinaddress'.
Then the importprivkey can be used with this output

Arguments:
1. "bitcoinaddress" (string, required) The bitcoin address for the private key

Result:
"key" (string) The private key

Examples:
> bitcoin-cli dumpprivkey "myaddress"
> bitcoin-cli importprivkey "mykey"
> curl --user myusername --data-binary '{"jsonrpc": "1.0", "id":"curltest", "method": "dumpprivkey", "params": ["myaddress"] }' -H 'content-type: text/plain;' http://127.0.0.1:8332/
(code -1)       All in red.
Then I type: walletpassphrase mypassphrase 60, no " ", enter and I get:Error: Error parsing JSON:Posh       in red.
Also now I got back home after several hours of being away and now I have NO peers No network traffic. When I left I had 3 peers and well over 40+ kb sent and and lots more received. That was about 6 hours ago. I left the program running. I have given all the info that i know, so I am really lost now. what next?

...
mywalletpassphrase dumpprivkey "my publicaddress "
...

If you are truly typing it as above, what you want is:

Code:
walletpassphrase your-walletpassphrase-here 600
dumpprivkey your-public-key-here

That would unlock the wallet for 600 seconds (10 minutes) and then dump the key.
Each is on its own line.
