How to know if my GPUs are communicating with Bitcoin?

I've been running bitcoin for 2 days, having just started running it on both my 9800 GTX's yesterday.  Unfortunately, the python script everyone likes only shows the hash rate and my bitcoin is showing 0.00 still.

Here's what my screen looks like/has looked like for the last 24 hours.

I just want to know if my GPU hashing is being pooled into the bitcoin program's pool.  I setup the RPC username/pass like the guide here:

Two 9800 GTX GPUs will provide about 65MHash/s.

At that rate with the current difficulty (244139) you should average a single 50BTC generation in 186 days, 17 hours, 8 minutes.

At that rate with the next difficulty starting tomorrow (expected 422833 so far) you should average a single 50BTC generation in 323 days, 9 hours, 1 minute.


Edit: Also (assuming you have the two cards in one computer), you are probably increasing your electricity usage by ~$2 per day.

It's working, you're just mining by yourself which at ~70Mh/s, will take close to a year to find a valid block.

Forget the bitcoin app for anything other than sending/receiving funds.  Go create an account at one of the various pools (deepbit, btcguild, etc) and modify your scripts to connect to them with the username and password you setup.  That way you're adding your resources to a pool of other people, which greatly increases your chances at getting valid blocks, and you all share a portion of the 50BTC.

For what it's worth, I'm using two Geforce 9800 GT's and have about the same hash rates, and I'm averaging 0.33BTC a day.  Can't wait for the 5850's to get here!!

I believe that, even when mining solo, Phoenix displays a message every time that a hash is found that meets at least difficulty > 1.

Cool. I've never used Phoenix, only poclbm.

I'd been meaning to look at the poclbm source and add something similar myself. There's something I love about a visual representation of the gradual progress a computer makes while crunching a big task.

Reminds me of the times I'd wait days for my machine to plot a Mandelbrot or or complete a download at 800 Bps.
