Do you get a message that says "Changing avatars is currently not possible." when you click on Forum Profile Information? I know I do.

Its no longer possible. Only those that had an account in the past still have it. They cant change it either, they can only get it removed.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

Basically, this forum used to have avatars until someone hacked the forums in late 2013. They exploited a vulnerability in the forum software and inserted a piece of malicious code into the avatar directory. Since then, avatars have been disabled. Those members who have avatars today only do so because they were able to upload them before the hack happened. Avatars will probably be returning soon once the forum software is upgraded sometime this year.

If you're interested in seeing a video on what the hack actually looked like, here's a link. Hopefully the new forum software will be released soon (although we've been saying that for a few months now) and then we'll have the ability to change avatars.

Hopefully, not anymore.

It's a general purpose forum that's intended to compete with others. Once the theme engine is in place, we'll be able to get more involvement from the public. For now, you can check out the source. On top of that a beta is being evaluated with the staff at this point so please sit tight.
