Discover the origin of this sub. It is excaptionally interesting and reads like a new genre (crime, history, documentary, psychology).

If you'd like to have a good description of our current sentiment visit:

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Good catch. All those people being hopeless really resemble the 2011 crash. It's also good to remember people never expected bitcoin to even reach 1 dollar back then.

two orders of magnitude over 3 years still seems as absurd as it did 3 years ago

I can't imagine when people were actually talking about the possibility of price hitting $5 per bitcoin. What's more intriguing was a thread I read earlier about a guy who bought tons of bitcoin probably in tens of thousands for few pennies a pop and he was threatening to dump it to the market if the price does not go up. How crazy was that

it is interesting to see that nothing is changed except the price itself. there is still trolls trolling around like always, cheering when price is rising and crying on price falling

Yeah, I also did this some time ago. It's just so incredibly depressing to see how cheap the coins were back then. You could have loaded up on so many and now they're so expensive. Makes me wanna cry ;(

That can be taken either way. There were so many lost because they were worthless that later ones are worth that much more.

If everyone knew what we know now they'd be in the multiple of thousands from minute one.

that's the thing though, no one can predict the future. back then you couldn't tell if it is even going to rise above $1 just like now that you can not say for sure if it goes past $300

Indeed. 21,000 coins would be a very satisfying amount to own. If you'd been transported back to 2011 and had your finger twitching to let go of $21,000 then I wonder what most would have done in that particular moment.

"The rocket is secretly taking off again, price will go to $5 within 3 days!"

"Prediction contest: When will bitcoin break $4, or will it never break $4?"

"Next stop: $1.7".

Wow.  This is amazing.

The current threads are all just exactly the same as the 3 year old ones, just with two more zeroes on the end of the price.

So in 3 years then you think we might be at around $29,000 and see this?

"The rocket is secretly taking off again, price will go to $50,000 within 3 days!"

"Prediction contest: When will bitcoin break $40,000, or will it never break $40,000?"

"Next stop: $17,000".

It causes pause, doesn't it?

Grin well ... the price is right ... if you don't count on QE system.
QE devaluate money (and so bitcoin, too).

When I first started, users were offering me deals around $50 for 1 bitcoin. I wish I bought hundreds.

This is a lesson to me. Don't dump coins all your coins and hope to buy them back for $10 or $20 cheaper. Hold on to most of them, spend a little to have fun and replenish when the price is right. Bitcoin can reach unimaginable heights, this is only the beginning.

Yeah, well that's exactly what I am counting on, to be honest... I hope that you are right with that assessment and that I'm proud of holding onto my measly coins I can call my own.
