~2 years ago, I remember at least one or two colleges/universities had Bitcoin related courses.
Any reports of Bitcoin being taught at your school?
...or talked about?

Bitcoin addresses contain a checksum, so it is very unlikely that mistyping an address will cause you to lose money.

Naw no way. I don't know anyone IRL that know what Bitcoin is, im sure if I could check what they are teaching in my school now there's no traces of crypto talk.

Nope. 95% of the students don't even know what bitcoin is at my school. Even the ones who do don't really believe in it. They think it's all stupid internet crap. We'll show them! Grin right? .....right....?

It is surprising as i thought they would be into bitcoin and all the tech which has been created around it, find it very strange. We need these guys to understand and want to join the movement, they will be a great addition granted they won't have much to buy because of their expenditures but hopefully that will stick and they might create business here or go on to a good job and buy as a investment, they will help no end imho.

TC is the worse thing to happen to default, needs to open his eyes and not jump to conclusions, not everyone lies!!! Anyway as promised I have left, pass word changed to long random which I will forget like that plonker who ruined a perfectly fine account.

I have seen a few university's start, mit was a lecture you can find on youtube not sure whether that is a weekly thing or just a one of though, i doubt it will be long before we get schools teaching bitcoin as a subject, if we do then that is a big sign it is not going anywhere and they want it to stay. Would show me they have a big hand involved also but that is another subject..

IMO they should stop teaching kids how to write in cursive, and begin teaching them computer programming and encryption.

I agree with this actually. It makes sense.

And no, nothing by me. Most people around here don't even know what it is or why people bother with it.

Not everybody needs that kind of stuff like programming and encryption really. But I agree that some basic knowledge from every field is necessary.
And schools should definitely update their old and almost rotten subject lists and create some new more modern like Basic Technology or something like taht.

In 10 - 15 years both of those things will be absolute necessities to function in life; at least the basics. They'll be just as necessary as writing, reading, and math. So kids that are currently in primary school should be learning it, or they'll be at a major disadvantage. But that's the education system for you; in most countries on the planet, they educate people for the last decade (or even century), not the up coming one.

My sister is a junior middle school student. One day she told me her teacher gave a lesson about Bitcoin. She described me the content of the lecture, about what is Bitcoin, how to mine Bitcoin, its concept! How suprised I am! Although it is not the official course authorized by the gov agencies without any textbook about bitcoin, I know her techcher must be a bitcoin believer.

I only know 8 other people IRL that actually hold BTC, and 6 of those were because of me pushing the concept, the other 2 found it for themselves.  None of them are even remotely close to student age.  Youngest 42 y/o, oldest 72 y/o.  Also 6 of them are looking to accumulate more, where as 2 of them who are not looking to acquire more had bought ATH in fear of missing out.  That's a pity, but I had been pitching the idea since 2011 and they didn't show interest then.  They just pounced on me one day out of the blue to put the task on me to sort it all out for them.  They still don't understand what they have, how to sell them, or use their wallet.  I should have refused to help (especially at that price when it was going vertical and we didn't know what was behind the exuberance, but they were quite pushy and cost me a lot of time, when they should have been studying about it to do it themselves).

If I were a teacher I think I'd get some of the "Bitcoin Blackboard" tutorials by James DeAngelo off youtube and kick back, since they cover a lot more about finance than just Bitcoin.  After that a couple of select Andreas Antonopolous videos if there was interest.

There isn't any being taught at schools were im from. But I got my brother in law involved with bitcoin which he really has interest in and then he got a few of his friends interested so its word of mouth where im from but the younger generation can really grasp interest in bitcoin and adopt it much faster these days.

Nah, it's not taught but it should be. ^smile^

They do incorporate money management [Budget / Basic accounting] and just need to add Crypto Currencies into the curriculum to cover Bitcoin and other currencies.

It's not taught in my university, you know, Chinese universities are conservative.
I'm major in economic, some teachers mentions Bitcoin and related knowledge sometimes but not much. I also find that foreign teachers are more interested in Bitcoin than Chinese one.

I tried hard to introduce the topic in the school in which I work but there was no way to discuss it.
They can't get over the link with terrorism, porn ecc.

So sad  Sad

it's just only two or three guys who know about Bitcoin (including me Grin)

Are you a teacher? That is no excuse. It is certain that they will be more interested in porn or bloody mess like terrorist attack. No, my friend you need to force it. Tell them Bitcoin is the future, in if they will listen now they will be millionaires  in the future, talk to them to arouse their curiosity about what really bitcoin can offer. And we will find new users and followers.
