We wrote a tiny article on how to invest into bitcoins as a long term play. Maybe you find it helpful.

i agree, this is the best and easiest way for people who either don't know how to trade or don't want to trade on regular basis on each price change.
and it is good to keep in mind that buying at any price is not a good idea. buying must happen in the lowest price possible even for long term investment.

the only problem with buying when the price is at its lowest is that no one knows where the bottom is.
currently it is quite safe to assume that at $300 it will be considered a solid long term investment.

Yeah, considering the long term direction of Bitcoin and the fact that we're still at about 25% of the last ATH, and supposedly go higher soon, makes the act of investing now not safe, but almost so.

Buying and hoarding is one thing but indirectly a person could also invest in start ups that is based on bitcoin for example those in payment processing business, mining or even those into selling hardware wallet. And lately there has been talks about the twins etf although there hasn't been much news about it lately.

It's the most secure way but it's the most boring way. Once you own a couple of BTC you are tempted to try to do something with them. Having them sit for 10 years is too desperating.
