I'm super excited to announce this, our brand new website which (in faucet style) will pay you in bitcoin to read books!! http://www.paidbooks.comEssentially bitcoin faucets pay you to do nothing, but if you don't have an interest in bitcoin then you probably arent going to find them. I hope this can reach a wider audience, and actually introduce bitcoin to a whole new type of person However, please be aware, for now, this is in beta testing mode so it is only simple, there are only a few books to read, and the satoshi payout is kinda low. How it WorksThe whole site is unlocked so you can browse it and use it without needing to signup But if you want to get paid, then you need to signup and enter a wallet address. Simply browse to choose a book! and pick your book. Then scroll down and start your timer (it's faucet style remember) Then every 1 minute you can click to claim 20 satoshi (*yes I know this is low, it's testing remember) and turn the page. Or if you are a fast reader then you can just turn the page for free. You can also refer your friends / advertise and receive 25% referral commission, and you can even create a specific referral link to a specific book - so you could say "get paid to read ___book name__ here". .. that's it. Future ImprovementsThere will be some updates coming, but just keen to get this out there and tested and to get some feedback. But, I don't need feedback on the 20 satoshi payout. I know it's low.. I think we can improve it, but actually I don't want this to be a "high paying faucet".. I want it to stand alone as a site that will pay you to read books, and get different types of traffic.. really reach new people, not just the bitcoin faucet crowd... Here are some other features we also already have in mind: - 100s, even 1000s more books! (this is a priority)
- An authors bios page, with all of their books listed if there are multiple from the same author.
- A popular books widget/listing
- A new books widget/listing
- Add your book features - so that authors can upload their books (and then even link to them and take 25% of the claim amount of everyone who reads it)
- Suggest books / vote for which books to add next.
- Possibly adjusting the timer - 5 minute claims and higher amount might be better, but just keen to have 1 minute claims while testing..
But yes, other ideas, thoughts, features, BUGS, I'd definitely appreciate your feedback! http://www.paidbooks.com

I think this is a brilliant idea as it encourages more readers to read more books. I think the payout is a bit low but it's better than nothing because you get paid for reading. Do you have to fill in a captcha every time? That would be tiresome because after you read a page you have to type.

Yes, completely agree - this is a low paying site. It's not meant to be a high paying bitcoin faucet, but reaching outside of the bitcoin niche - but hopefully showing regular people how bitcoin works and the world how bitcoin could be used. If you want high paying faucets then our other 2 - Alien Faucet, and Weekend Bitcoin) in my signature are the highest paying in the world.. I don't need ANOTHER highest paying faucet - need a bigger project that could reach mainstream traffic. I think this is a brilliant idea as it encourages more readers to read more books. I think the payout is a bit low but it's better than nothing because you get paid for reading. Do you have to fill in a captcha every time? Yeah, thats the idea - reach wider audience and encourage reading - my 2 favorite things in the world - bitcoin and reading.. ok, maybe surfing too but don't know how to incorporate that Yes you have to fill out a captcha.. this has to be so or even at low payout it would be worthwhile to mass fraud/bot attack me. BUT - yes, this is just still testing. Yes, the rewards can be increased, and/or the timer can be just set back to 5 minutes and reward increased... I agree this probably makes sense.. just want to test at 1 minute for a while.. Target - 100 books by the end of the month - 1000 books by the end of next month * and if you would like to get involved and enter the data - upload books.. then PM me, it is a paying role for the right (fast/quality) people.. low paying.. but I can pay in bitcoin... contact me if you are interested and quote me your hourly rate in $s or bitcoin.

I have nothing bad to say about this, seriously. I read a couple of books on the list. Most are what I would normally like anyway since I enjoy classics and ESPECIALLY love Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Sure the payout is low but I am happy to be testing it and getting a small reward for something I'd probably be doing anyway.
I hope to see an increased selection of books if this takes off. Definitely one of the better webpages with incentives. Having a section for fledgling authors to upload their work and possibly get it seen is a great idea too.
10/10 bitcoinaliens. I will report back if I have any issues.

Thanks for the feedback - and this ^ is exactly what we're going for - if you like reading, and want to read the books we have then just get paid to do so Get paid to do stuff you're already doing anyway I hope to see an increased selection of books if this takes off. Definitely one of the better webpages with incentives.

Yes, coming too The plan is to get 100+ books online and then reach out to some authors Only it is taking us a bit longer than we thought to get the books online - we are looking for PAID data entry help to do this - PM me if you are interested.

PM'd you about data entry and am glad to do anything to support this project. Surely not everyone will "get it" when it comes to this, others will likely just leave a page open for a few satoshi. After I read the Bitcoin whitepaper and saw a balance in my top screen it made sense to me how this platform could be used for many things. I am sure the surface is just beginning to be scratched.

A very interesting service indeed. Just tried it out, works like a charm. Only comment I have is that the captchas are quite repetitive as to what you need to enter, but other than that, looking good

1/10th of a penny per hour, while entering 60 captchas?
After 1,000 hours of reading (and 60,000 captchas), you will have $1. I think you will need to spend more than that just to keep breathing...
Good concept, but not anywhere near reality yet.

Well I agree it does have kinks and low payout it seems like something that might actually have a purpose. God knows we have enough crappy faucets and idiotic ponzi games out there. In time we can hope payout increases if there is higher interest.

Well I agree it does have kinks and low payout it seems like something that might actually have a purpose. God knows we have enough crappy faucets and idiotic ponzi games out there. In time we can hope payout increases if there is higher interest. We're still only really in beta testing, only have around 3 real length books online and 10 short stories. The payout will definitely increase with a "real launch.. when we have more books and a few other tweaks: - Most popular widget. - New this week widget. - Author Bios page. - A few other bug tweaks. However, the intention is not to make this a "high paying faucet" - there's plenty of those - but a vision so far for the site is that we can pay $1 per book read (on average) - so you read a whole book, and it adds up to around $1 - so instead of paying $7 to buy a book, if we have it, then you can read it on our site and get paid $1 - a difference of $8 in your pocket (sorta). Anyway, I hope we can increase the payout in another 5-7 days time - and hopefully we will have 10-20 real length books online by then.

Nice concept of Giving people the chance to read and earn at the same time. But there are lots of banners inside it. Not environment friendly. Only few sentences in a single page. Users have to visit every page which may can irritate its concentration.
And i don't think so Serious readers will be there if changes not been done

You should give a captcha every couple of pages and not after each one. That would be too tiresome. Maybe instead of a captcha, the question could be say a part of the book and it asks the reader question that relates to the book so they can't just abuse it. Also you could go to epubbud.com, they have free PDF files for you to read and you could definitely use that.

you should add the bookmark function of each book, the reader may not always remember the number of pages they have read

I always leave my page open or note the url, but I agree a bookmark function would be a nice addition. You inspired me to code up an add-on for greasemonkey xD.
