This chart from BlockChain.info looks to me like it is indicating that the bitcoin USD transaction volume was zero right up until this month... and which point it shot up to over USD $35 billion per day:
http://blockchain.info/charts/estimated-transaction-volume-usd

Is that an error, or are my newbie eyes deceiving me?

Here are a few other charts from blockchain.info with similar shapes that are equally confusing to me:
http://blockchain.info/charts/market-cap (Bitcoin USD market cap is about $1.6 trillion - woot woot!)
http://blockchain.info/charts/market-price
http://blockchain.info/charts/cost-per-transaction
http://blockchain.info/charts/miners-revenue

How does one explain the shape of those charts?
