Futures trading platform BitVC has announced it will no longer offer litecoin futures to its users, as it shifts its focus to bitcoin.

The platform, a subsidiary of Chinese exchange Huobi, said that the decision was taken "due to a lack of user demand", and the "growing consensus that the world will only have one cryptocurrency value".

I don't know if there will only be one cryptocurrency in the future, but I am 100% sure that litecoin won't be one of the major cryptocurrencies of the future.
It is a bit faster than bitcoin to confirm, otherwise I see almost no innovation.

Primecoin, peercoin, NXT and many others have lots of interesting new aspects about them. Litecoin doesn't. Good call by BitVC, concentrate on the central market being sucessful, then look at peripheral markets.

Litecoin its the only alt coin offered on major chinese platforms like okcoin/Huobi, there is respectable trading volume for traders unlike those illiquid coins. CCMF soon  as halving approaches Wink

How Ripple Rips you: "The founders of Ripple Labs created 100 billion XRP at Ripple's inception. No more can be created according to the rules of the Ripple protocol. Of the 100 billion created, 20 billion XRP were retained by the creators, seeders, venture capital companies and other founders. The remaining 80 billion were given to Ripple Labs. Ripple Labs intends to distribute and sell 55 of that 80 billion XRP to users and strategic partners. Ripple Labs also had a giveaway of under 200 million XRP (0.002% of all XRP) via World Community Grid that was later discontinued.[29] Ripple Labs will retain the remaining 25 billion"

it's good that they put the focus only on bitcoin now. that being said, litecoin has decent volume spreaded over several exchanges.
i wonder what this will do with the litecoin price as it already had a good beating last months.

Other than using Litecoin for trading purposes, does it serve any other serious purpose? Nope.

It's just a matter of time before the last few king size bag holders/early adopters dump their stash on the market out of boredom.

It sucks for Litecoin holders, I have my doubts if LTC will be able to recover at this point.
Has anyone tried BitVC to generate compound interest with their BTC holdings tho?
