Dude, it looks like we've seen different videos, I don't see how that video is promoting an unhealthy life style...

Eating too much is also an eating disorder.

I think someone just has a penchant for fat shaming.

I'm sure we watched the same video. We probably didn't pay attention to the same parts. Because among other things, she said "Eat whatever you want, whenever you want and however much you want". And later on goes on to say that that body weight isn't significant. That's the one and only way to obesity.

What's wrong with eating what you want when you want? That's completely normal. Do you actually go hungry rather than eat when your body is telling you to? I eat when I want and I'm pretty slim. You could stuff your face half of the day and if you exercise sufficiently you'll burn all the excess off any way.

In my opinion being fat is not unhealthy unhealthy is someone who eats a lot of junk food or meat everyday etc... everyone has the right to be fat or thin but if you are fat and you dont want to change this means that you love your body , at this point it doesnt matter what the others think but you Wink

What about when your flying economy, and stuck in the middle seat between two fat people? With each of them taking up 1 and a 1/4 seat, leaving you with half a seat.

Because they love their body, you the healthy person in the middle seat should suffer.

You are terrible at defining whats healthy; how can you say that being fat is NOT unhealthy? Take a look at this for an example :

Its obviously making it much harder for organ to work properly with all that fat around it. Im not saying that u need to be skinny, and little curves is especialy nice to see on a woman by my opinion, but
there certanly is a line that must not be crossed and that goes both for fat and anorexic people, its a disease on some people.

And later on goes on to say that that body weight isn't significant. That's the one and only way to obesity.

That's because she came from bulimia/anorexia, she was afraid of food, like a lot, she probably count every calorie, after eating to much purge, and so on.

This video is for that kind of people...

You keep on defending this for some reason. Which I don't find weird, I would do the same if I didn't know that buzzfeed was actively promoting social justice culture. The "artist" in this video probably tries to appeal to the "fat acceptance" movement. I wouldn't be surprised if the claims she made at the start of the video were a lie to touch the sensitive hearts of some. SJWs are not the most honest kind of people, they even have this "listen and believe" principle that they tend to follow.

Now social justice is a bad thing?

And I don't see how the video is promoting social justice, well, if you consider not having an eating disorder social justice, I guess it is...

Very obtuse thinking/reasoning from op there. It doesn't even matter that the mechanics that dictates fatness is astronomically more complex, no one has any business telling fat people not to be fat and no fat person has any business being offended by someone telling them off for being fat.

Except for the part where their being fat is none of your business and you making it your business is probably offensive to them. There's legitimate offense to be taken there where strangers put their own values on someone else's life for the purpose of judging them.

Look, I'm not claiming to be in a position to judge others. I'm just criticizing the motivation the video I posted is trying to give. "Love your body" sounds like a good context doesn't it? But I can't really say that it's something I like when it's used as an excuse to do nothing to fight obesity.

This video doesn't say anything to motivate people eating healthy and exersizing... Instead it gives messages like "Eat anything and whenever" and "Body weight doesn't matter". The truth is that body weight is a significant factor in obesity, and eating "anything and whenever" doesn't rally help.

Is it my business to judge people over doing that? Absolutely not. But I can say that I find it wrong. I specifically say in the OP that this is my personal opinion/comment and nothing more. What's obtuse here is your perception of what I say.

I guess you can look at the video in different ways. I think it was more about being confident with your body and not giving in to peer and societal pressure rather than eat everything and become a slob and don't give a fuck about your health. If the woman was morbidly obese it may have come across this way but she looks like a normal and healthy person to me. More healthy than a stick thin woman who says don't eat when you're hungry. That would be a bigger issue and far more damaging opinion, in my opinion.

You're right, this goes both ways really. But obesity is probably a more common issue than anorexia. Simply being thin doesn't mean that you have an eating disorder though.

Simply being thin doesn't mean that you have an eating disorder though.

Neither does being 'fat'. You also don't have to have an eating disorder to be unhealthily skinny or fat.

While it isn't necessary that being fat requires someone to have an eating disorder, in almost all the cases it's preventable. Someone in family lost nearly 45 kilos (100 pounds) by simply managing to maintain a healthy lifestyle for a decent amount of time.

Eating disorder? Maybe not in all cases, but obesity is surely a problem most people can overcome.

you wanted to live in a world where all people, cultures and lifestyles are equal, so live in it

As a fat dude, It is not healthy to be fat, and it is not a choice either.  It is more like an addiction to food.  that being said, saying you should be proud of being fat is ridiculous, you should strive to be healthy in stead of different.  Respecting someones views on religon are not at all the same as saying "Because I am comfertable being fat I am healthy"  It is not healthy to be fat under any circumstance.

It could be a hormonal problem as well.

Yes hormones violate the laws of thermodynamics.

Yes being diabetic with poor insulin sensitivity can lead to increased conversion of glucose to triglycerides, making it difficult to drop weight, but being fat comes from too much food, period. Body fat isn't absorbed from the atmosphere.

Being fat isn't healthy period. You may be able to maintain some basic blood markers(electrolytes, cbc) in the normal range, but hormonal profiles will change. Increased aromatization of testosterone -> estrogen, decreased t4->t3 conversion, piss poor glucose uptake and increased homocysteine. Sleep apnea is also very common, and most people don't realize they are literally suffocating in their sleep.

It is okay being fat. As long as you can bring yourself confidently, happily and keep yourself healthy.

Well one of my cousin got heart trouble 3 months back, he was fat and thought he was healthy and he was diagnosed with Coronary artery disease (CAD) and they had to do a Balloon Angioplasty to get his artery open and now he can't lift anything even slightly heavy for the rest of his life, not even his kid.  Sad

One of my cousin's husband died of heart attack about a month back on his way to the Airport, he was fat too, so I don't think you can be fat and healthy at the same time, you may look good outside but your arteries inside are choking and if you don't do anything about that you'll die pretty soon. Believe it or not but after those 2 incidents I have been running my ass off every morning. I am not fat but my line of work doesn't involves any physical labor and which is why it is necessary for me to burn some calories and get that heart pumping for cardio workout.

Oh man. Sorry to hear that about your family members.

My grandmother also had problems in her later life because of weight. At the age of 60 she started having serious issued with her legs. She wouldn't go out alone after 65 in fear of falling or having to stop due to the pain. In her later years she couldn't go without daily pills for blood pressure and and thyroid. She also had issues with her eyes, I remember that she would occasionally wake up with bleeding in her eye and the doctor would tell us it must've been due to blood pressure because she forgot to take the pills for a day.
