Title: I love Google.
Post by: subwoofer12 on August 28, 2015, 04:33:55 AM
They permanently closed my Wallet account for selling bitcoin...
Luckily I had no funds remaining in the account

None of the messages you shared even hint at the reason why they closed your account, let alone mention Bitcoin.

I think you need to give us more proof that Google shutdown your wallet due to bitcoin transactions. It seems REALLY unlikely that using a Google wallet to buy Bitcoin would be a reason for them to shut you down. They're not in the business of stifling options, creativity or innovation...in fact they are a business that operates under the opposite objective. Plus, Google sits in the heart of Silicon Valley, one of the central locations for Bitcoin success!

Pictures or didn't happen...

No. Google doesn't have a competing currency, they have an account and payments system. If Google feels they're losing fiat business to bitcoin they can allow bitcoin to be one of the currencies people can transact with. It's synonymous to PayPal...it's agnostic of currency choice.

The funny thing is I spoke with support before a few months ago and specifically asked them if I could use google wallet to sell bitcoin.
They said yes, and referenced this page (https://support.google.com/wallet/answer/6052084?hl=en).

10 minutes after this conversation I received an e-mail saying my wallet card (https://support.google.com/wallet/answer/3529204?hl=en) was suspended.
5 minutes after that e-mail I got another saying my entire account is closed.

Google is a spying, lying, cheating bastard of a company. Any dealings you do with them should never be considered secure or private. You probably shouldn't have had your wallet closed, but you should have had your butt spanked for making a Google wallet account anyway.

Anyway, it's over now. Just go to Paypal instead.

All payments I receive on my PayPal account are currently subject to a 21 day hold before I can withdraw (unless its from a friend) as a 'security measure'

Strange how things work... Bing incorporate Bitcoin payments if you use it and Google ban you if you use it. They are known to work closely with the spy agencies in America, so I do not use them at all.
In one of the Vice documentaries about North Korea, they visited a IT centre and people were sitting in front of computers, looking busy. The one guy had the Google search page open, but he was just staring at the page.

It's ironic how they would use that to try and fool the American basketball team that visited them. The company that collect all your activity and passing it on to the American agencies.

Well this is what happens when  you are dealing with the centralized company that has a power to decide if you did something right or wrong and can take sides as they wish.

Luckily, this doesn't exist with Bitcoin. Nobody can come and close your wallet for this or that reason. Lets just give it time, when people around the world see the difference between dealing with centralized against decentralized, sky will be the limit.

Right. I only use Google for its search engine and email service and nothing else. For online payments and transactions, I only limit my use to bitcoin because PayPal and VISA screwed me several times over back then and I only lost money from my transactions because of the hassles that I encounter on using their service (the 21-day hold period of funds that you received from someone that isn't in your circle is true, screw you, Pp) whereas in bitcoin, I don't encounter such a thing. No one can actually close my wallet for some reasons they could think of because I am the sole owner of it.

Well this is what happens when  you are dealing with the centralized company that has a power to decide if you did something right or wrong and can take sides as they wish.

They can take any sides they want as they wish, provided that it was indicated in their ToS. They can put literally almost anything they want in there, without you even knowing it. And you can do so much about it, because you're just a user in their platform.

Luckily, this doesn't exist with Bitcoin. Nobody can come and close your wallet for this or that reason. Lets just give it time, when people around the world see the difference between dealing with centralized against decentralized, sky will be the limit.

Totally agree. Freedom is here in bitcoin, the problem is that because of the freedom that you have in bitcoin, some nasty users tend to take advantage of that.

Have there been cases of Google holding peoples funds for months without any specified reason?
Happened a lot with Paypal accounts.

No payment processor wants to shut down accounts. They're forced to cover their arse by the avalanche of G men breathing down their necks. Moan to your local politician, not them.

No, they are not. They are known for being pretty transparent about their activity and opposing US-government as good as they can.
This FUD about Google is ridiculous. As far as I remember, there was even evidence when Sony e-mails got leaked, that Sony started a PR-campaign against google.

Unfortunately if you are running multi million dollar company of that caliber you need to be lying and cheating. There is no way of honest business when you need to please people and government at the same time.
Google is just being cautious about potential fraudulent accounts, that is perfectly understandable. But saying that paypal is better is a bit too much.

Paypal returned a payment that neither I or the customer wanted to happen and then refused the payment when the customer tried again to pay me. They then locked the account. They can go for a running jump and I hope their gonads get infested with fire ants.

Then I went with Google. Was happy with them for a while but they changed their service from Google <whatever>to Google Wallet Digital Downloads. Was a bit miffed but transitioned with a bit of effort.

Then they shut down Wallet digital downloads and there was no longer a service I could use with them. I'm now with Stripe. Very happy with Stripe. 7 days and your money is in your bank account. Cheaper fees than Google were. They will even act as a Bitcoin payment processor for you so I doubt they are anti bitcoin; although I don't need that service. Sweet web interface too. Been with them for 1 year without any problems.

I was wondering the same thing, and also; didn't you say you find it suspicious that same person sent you funds from two different wallets, and as a result of that
you contacted them ?
I highly doubt the account is locked due to bitcoin connection, or that it is permanently terminated, but anything's possible i guess.

Not in the sense that you can't legally buy it, but in the sense that paypal takes a risk by allowing such transactions. the same for Google. Bitcoin need trust and those companies don't trust peoples

Look up with https://www.startpage.com (https://www.startpage.com) or https://www.ixquick.com (https://www.ixquick.com) (NOT Google) "Prism". Google made a search engine for USA law enforcement to use (anybody from the metermaid to the CIA). You just type in anyone's name and then voila! ALL your online, even confidential info, shows up; every email, every webpage you looked up, every facebook page, etc. It uses a very powerful A.I. to link all your identities. Look up "Snowden" for reference.

Pay $600 for them to do what? Enable a little tick in a box next to your account for you to use it again? This is why I would rather use Yahoo as a search engine and Bitcoin as a payment method.

What will happen if Bitcoin goes mainstream? Would they pay you $600 to come back again to use their service? These centralized services has too much power to push people around. You would never think that

their are a battle between Yahoo / Bing and Google for market share, if you look at the way they are treating their customers.  ???

It looks to me like for 2 days in a row, someone sent you money, then cancelled the transaction, but not before you quickly withdrew the money from your Google wallet.

So hoppy32347 (seems like a suspicious name to me) still has all their money, you have $600 in your bank account.

Of course Google locked your account! What should they do? Open it up on your word that it won't cost them more money? Their decision has nothing to do with Bitcoin.

This problem will keep happening as long as people keep using money transfer systems with charge-backs (including credit cards, PayPal, and online transfer) to sell Bitcoin, which, as we all know, has no charge-back.

Advice: Keep clean by exchanging Bitcoin on real exchanges (with KYC), or for real cash, not this electronic stuff.

Google routinely shuts down accounts at the slightest hint of the possibility of violation of their ToS. Adsense is the worst. Apparently any adsense account making more than 5000 monthly (yes it is possible to make this kind of money with adsense, it just puts you in their crosshairs) gets scuppered without any hope for appeal. go to their forums, there are hundreds of pages of users crying "WHY???" no one even gets an answer from them.

when you consider that google has over a billion users a few accounts getting v& is nothing to them. their thinking is "better safe than sorry" but all that means for us is, the consumer is expendable.

i hate google

When the first payment was sent from the hoppy32347 account it appeared to me as coming from Marlene Hopkins, then they (goes by the pseudonym 'Sea Creature') sent the next payment it came from Raymond Noz. That's when I felt uneasy and asked Google to look into it, next thing I know my account is closed. I never sent any bitcoin for the transaction for $1,047. The $100 and $500 payment had no issues until 2 weeks later. You can't cancel a transaction in Google Wallet after you've sent it. Google stopped the pending transaction and reversed the two that cleared.

I provided the Google reps with everything I know, trying to help them find the guy, yet they go after me.

I'm guessing that the hoppy32347 account was created by a scammer and funded with (a) stolen credit card(s). Then, the owner of the credit card got his bill and disputed it. It was obviously stolen, so the credit card transaction was reversed.

Google probably froze the hoppy32347 account. And your account has a negative balance. What else would you expect them to do?

I don't love google, its good but not the best. I don't understand why people love Google so much too. Yahoo is so much better you have email a 360 page and so many opportunities. If you can't find anything or need help its usually right there for you. I feel Google is nothing but a imitator to yahoo! As per me people loves google because its plain, simple, easy, quick, gets the job done but many sites are providing same services like google, there is nothing new to google.

Google is nice for a lot of things, but it scares me how big they are with such little competition in some areas.

Google is nice for a lot of things, but it scares me how big they are with such little competition in some areas.

They have gotten huge and I think the scariest part is how much information they have on a typical google user (just chrome and android).  They pretty much know all your interests, people you interact with, where and how you travel, what content you download, etc.  If this type of information ever starts to implicate people, I think there will be a huge surge in demand for browsers, search engines and mobile operating systems that don't track your usage.

It's clear now, that he just owns Google $ 600 and the whole thing has nothing to do with Bitcoin. It would be the same thing, if he had sold a couch and the buyer had reversed the transaction. Same thing also happens with bank accounts.
There is really nothing Bitcoin related to see here in this thread. Move along.

They do not allow bitcoin for sure. Most of them don't because bitcoin is competitor for all. So do not disclose such information to support.

If Google creates it's own coin then it will try their users to use only that coin, something like manipulate in all their product/services, but it is optional.

True, Google like Paypal are monopolies and like every monopoly they will try to erase the competition, and bitcoin is a hell of a competitor.

What I do not understand is why Google monopoly has been allowed to continue, Standard Oil was a very powerful monopoly and still the US Government applied the Sherman Antitrust Act against it.

If you had the monopoly and saw someone enter into the market making a better price you will be scared ,soo to protect your capital they avoid it refuse it,make their promotions ,they control the market if they wanna to hit bitcoin deeply they can create their coin and offer some mining process as bitcoin has, controlling the market,as the price.

Well so far none of these big "Internet monopolies" hasn't been broken down. On the top of that, they even let them grow,  Google has bought YouTube, etc.

But then again, you could argue the same about Facebook. They are also a monopoly of sort. It looks to me me that they are not that interested to touch that much into online corporations. It's either that or these cooperation know very well who to bribe.

You dont see the threat of bitcoin for Google, REALLY!?

http://www.coindesk.com/cftc-grants-temporary-approval-to-bitcoin-startup-ledgerx/

Quote
LedgerX has received temporary approval from the US Commodities Futures Trading Commission to act as a swap execution facility.

The bitcoin options startup applied for licensure last year and has received backing from Lightspeed Venture Partners and Google Ventures.

Well, you almost nailed it.

I will no longer use any centralized payment handler ever again. I had the same issue with PayPal and now there is no way I am trusting these guys with my money. Bitcoin is new, innovated and open-sourced. I think it's better to take more control of your finances anyway.

Paypal were good when they  restricted most of the projects online to be legal,i mean hyip those kind of programs you cant run them at paypal. But the thing that they call dispute is insane you sell something and those person use the thing and after 30 days claim for the money and send you back the product used... this is making most people left them.I love bitcoin, since you send payment you cant recover it anymore soo must be sure you wanna those item.

It is quite simple because who ever have a lot of money in hand then they can easily try to kill the competition on right time. Right time is very important because once the competition grown then no one can do anything so all these big companies try to remove all those competitors at the beginning itself.
