The interesting thing about this time period is it currently being a holiday in China.  I was surprised to see 3-4 percent.  I was hoping that we might see even smaller as no new miners should be built during this period.

And I could be a idiot and bitmain might be filling up S7's in a data center during the holiday to test.  Just waiting till after holiday to ship.  Not sure what to think with current difficulty.

its making me think back to that thread i posted about the 100 peta jump.. just wonder if they decided to ease it in rather than dump it on all at once.. looks like another 10 peta online at f2pool.  seems maybe they are either expanding or someone using there pool to test new hw possibly..     F2Pool   24.16 %   108.05 PHs  src.. https://chain.btc.com/en/stats/pool?pool_mode=day  again reason i dont think its variance is i dont see antpool jump 10 -15 peta up and down with variance.. Maybe just a couple at most..

Mostly everyone expected the last adjustment period to be a much larger gain, will this be the one that we were afraid of?  I wonder how many S7s Bitmain is keeping for themselves vs. selling to the public.  Maybe they are replacing hash for hash rather than machine for machine and becoming more efficient (lower power costs, more profits) without unnecessarily increasing difficulty?  Could be a viable plan to maximize income by minimizing expenses rather than brute force hash increase.

No but we can hope for a negative.  picks will open sat morning in 10-12 hours or so.  we have 221 in and 79 to go.

That is pretty amazing.   Wow that is a complete change on hashing.   Guess we can hope for more Chinese holiday's to help hash.

Sadly after holiday I have a feeling next batch's of S7 will be coming pretty soon.   Assuming it all works right for them.  Which we know it was not 100 percent since they had some gear not hit the right hash.

Currently not looking too good. Probably will be at least +5%. I guess the shipping delays didn't stop the hashrate increase.

It makes you wonder of the hardware volume the other companies are Onlining. We're pretty much stalking and basing many analysis about what Bitmain will online next but the truth is i don't even think 51%+ of the hashrate comes from Antminers.

And while most companies are telling us home miner to fuck off, they are most likely thriving behind closed doors. Ugh.

I hope bitfury did not kick in more hash.   Add the S7's to come this likely could hurt on difficulty changes.    I have it's variance.

Only good news is btc price has been really steady were talking 238-239 for a few weeks at this point?  So we are seeing some stability on price. If we could only get some low difficulty changes now.

Bitfury was always around 15-20% for the day for the last few months or so. KNCMiner was always around 5-10%.

When Bitfury turns on their new gear, we will know it for sure since they are saying the total hashrate will exceed 1,000,000,000 Hash/s.

Im sure they are working overtime to get it up and running since each day costs them hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I hope not either no offense :).  I was hoping for a week of 2 or so with China having a holiday.  But seems my wish is not happening.

Anyone have a good idea where this hash is coming from?  Are S7's hitting peoples door's from batch one on ones that did not get it yet?  Something is happening for 4 percent (lets hope variance and goes down)

They are saying that they want to open a new facility with 100MW capacity. Their new hardware will be less than 0.1W/GH. So yes, they alone will be able to put over 1 Exahash into bitcoin hashrate (over 200% increase in diff). Even if this take a year to complete it means ~40PH of hashrate added every diff adjustment.

I think this rise we're seeing right now is what we were expecting to see the last two adjustment periods.  I'm guessing we underestimated how long it would take mines to unbox, install, and configure the new hardware and it's only just now coming online.  Batch 2 and 3 of the S7 will probably show their hash in another 4 weeks or so.

Until Bitfury has a completed and working facility I don't put much weight behind claims of this and that.  Put up or shut up, as they say.  With the halving coming soon anything not online yesterday is going to have a hard time justifying expenses, especially something the size of the alleged Exahash facility.  And with the fact that difficulty cannot change by more than a factor of 4 (https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/d62a1947be5350ed60066ccacc7aba43bbdf48fb/src/main.cpp#L875) each period it would take several adjustment periods for the diff to catch up if a facility like that was simply switched on at once.

I think it will be interesting to see what happens once China holiday is over.  If we will see big jumps or what will happen.

If batch 2+3 ship on 15th seems like they would have put them in a data center before holiday, or be rushing to put in after.  And there are still a few who did not get batch 1 which will be interesting what compensation is for them.

Last time prices hit these marks we went all the way to $300!  Then we saw some sell off and the XT thing brought it down again, but yea, it's nice to see the price start to climb back up.  Of course that also means that higher difficulty be profitable, thus more miners will turn on, and around and around we go.

The price dropped 4$ in few minutes, that is annoying. Why would it matters? Only confirmation time is affected, i don't see why this would change anything for holders and miners.

On the 10th of October Hashnest will start customers' S7 machines. 333 sold so far, that means 1.6 PHs. Also shipped S7's will be active too. (I would choose between 4 to 5% but all seats are taken :) )

It really is a nuisance cheap way to duplicate txts then send them twice
The transaction confirms either way and doesn't cause a double spend since the blockchain reads the first input, but that second one stays in the mempool for a while.

Could it be bitmain shipping off some S7 batch 1's before weekend?  If they did this it would save them from compensation.

Seriously I am interpreting  all this and what I get is Bitfury KNC SP-Tech have not deployed much new gear or they are doing what I say every asic builder does.
That is take old gear that sucks power offline  say a 1000 watt 2th machine gets replaced by a 600 watt 2.1th machine  so that builder has a tiny bit more hash and way less power  used. Thus profits rise.

   I guess it is a good thing if this is continued this way. 

I still say we end up between -1 and + 1 this time.
I could use this as it makes my s-7's pretty nice gear.

The only thing I wonder is what is happening with this old gear?  Seems like it would be good enough they would not want to trash it.   I guess they might do upgrade kits as it's their own data center.

It does make sense though that they would want the 1/2 power costs.  It's all about being low cost at this point.

I've seen some bulk used equipment sales - only the really old stuff is going offline completely. They don't sell it to consumers as they want "as is where is, no service" sales on the used stuff.

If it was still profitable and they had the power and the room why would they take it out of service? That is unless you were Bitmain and you were selling 2nd hand miners.  :)

Only reason would be cost of building another data center.   I imagine it takes a lot of guaranteed profit to open another one. And add employees it just get's more expensive.

Old gear ends up piled in a corner somewhere waiting for the e-recyclers to come and haul it away!  Most of the time I don't think it's cost efficient for large operations to spend time setting up old gear, even if it is still viable to run (on paper).

It's pretty amazing that we haven't seen a huge single bump in diff like we all expected going back an adjustment or two.  I guess the roll out of all the new hardware was more staged than anticipated, it wasn't like someone just threw the ON switch and added multi-PH to the network.

I really like the sound of that.  A 1 percent change considering it's a arms race going on with asics is really amazing.   

Sometime though the rest of B1 S7 that did not ship will be made, and B2/3.   But I highly doubt they go out in 3 day's on batch 2/3 "Oct. 15 ~ 25 (if shipped out 10 days later than it, it won't be considered as delay ).".  But there is a wave coming with S7's.

Its been tripping me up aswell.. it seems to do this just after a difficulty adjustment. Then settles back down about 50 ph from what ive been seeing lately..
