I think the 4th option which is a pump and dump scheme is definitely not the case with BTC.

I use it as speculation and till now holding my bits.
Wait for the price to increase/decrease after halving.

Once I can amass a non trivial amount, I am going to use Bitcoin to buy stuff like computer hardware. I think I might even get a miner and try some mining.

Voted for Speculation, because right now the price is too volatile for BTC to be considered as a store of value in the long term.

I use it to buy things online anonymously. I also use it as an investment. Overall, I love using Bitcoin.

I think Bitcoin is a good means of simple transactions, and it is kind of a store of value, however it isn't fully a store of value due to the volatility. I would say that Bitcoin is fairly important to me, however I don't have my life savings stored away in some coins. I just use this as a simple side thing, and roll with whatever happens I guess. Any money is good money, and so I am fine with doing whatever if it means I'm adding to my bankroll.

Because I believe BTC designed as a payment gateway. I've used BTC a dozen times to transfer funds to friends overseas.

Like independent from government laws and speculating higher values are interlinked and giving me a reason to make myself to love bitcoin. Investing into a highly returning instrument are not the option available to all generation of people. Like my grand father, now I'm able to buy a share of coca cola kind of company, that is bitcoin. Speculation is the prime factor.

I am using Bitcoin as of December 2015 for what it is designed for - paying for digital goods and online services. The next one would be as an investment - apart from spending them, I also save some of them for the future.

Bitcoin currently is important to me because it allows me to send money 24/7 to anywhere in the world instantly. I also like the fact that it is an investment. It's basically a win win situation for me.

because there is no one to ask/control it and i can buy/use any amount of coins regardless of the money coming from drugs ,smuggling or any other illegal activities,so maybe other.

important is like i am jobless so now i am doing signature campaign and earning like 0.03+ bitcoins and saving it , i mostly use for my mobile recharge , datacard, and now i am searching bitcoin job online,

yes bitcoin transactions are very secret, but it is not the most important for me, the most important thing for me is,bitcoin will remain a legitimate payment options

Since,  this year (2015) january, all my phone and internet bills were fully depends on bitcoin. And i've adjusted my budgets. so, if i don't have bitcoin, i cannot use internet. So the bitcoin is important to me this way. And so i voted "other".

As a speculation, but i also like it as a payment method. Way more than paypal.

What I like is that the low transaction fees and it is borderless. It connects two ppl instantly in two corners of the worlds.

I use Bitcoin every day to send and receive money. It's my main choice for online payments as it is easy, safe and fast. Great currency. I also find Bitcoin to be a great store of value. Since the very first day that I started with fully holding Bitcoin, my coins gained value significantly. I look at the long term picture, and I will see the value of my coins gain more and more value. Holding pays off. And it's of course an investment tool.

I would go for bitcoin for paying but also for speculation. This is some new hobby i developed and which i like very much.
So in a way i prefer stability but I like the fluctuation too.

We run a bitcoin startup. Bitcoin is important to us as it represents our company future.

We hope it'll be a successful one for Bitcoin. If Bitcoin adoption continues, our startup will grow.

For me bitcoin is used as: payment mechanism between friend, family, coworkers. Also I hold small amount of BTC in case future will bring better price.

I have used in both ways like storing it until it gains value like double as of now from 250 to 450. After than i used it cashed this coin out to my local bank.

Bitcoin is most important to me because of the future of it.  I am of coarse going to keep collecting my Bitcoin to build it us, but opening with a whole new currency allows people to start some of the same current business only involving Bitcoin.  This opens a whole new field of opportunities for people and I am going to take advantage of this. 

I don't depend on bitcoin as my main income source, so for this I think I would have to go with the second one. I do bitcoin on the side of my main job that I attend to during the week. Other than that I use bitcoin to save up some money and sometimes I gamble with it. I don't do it that often because I don't think I will win much in the long run.

I've been using bitcoin as a source o income online. I accept both USD an BTC online. I use tem to support my living so bitcoin is important for me in every way since I don't hae yet a real job to support my expenses. :)

That's cool and highly appreciated because many don't even try to earn when they are online also try to learn as much as possible about the future currency"Bitcoin". Knowledge is money and also spread awareness about bitcoin to your family and friends let's help BTC to become mainstream.

I sometimes gamble with my bitcoins, don't worry I'm not wasting all of it to gamble away. Only a certain amount. I don't gamble on a daily basis, that would be a waste for a fact. Other than that I don't really use my bitcoins, if I find something that i want to buy on the internet and bitcoin payment is acceptable then I will pay with bitcoins.

Unlike you I never gamble using bitcoin. Because bitcoin is very important to me, because I use it in sending payments to my family who are in my home country, and they make a living from it. It makes things very easy, I have made lots of profit by using bitcoin for fund transfer, so it is very important.

Well, I normally make use of bitcoin in receiving payments when I offer services online, because it is more secure than other payment processors. It is very important to me, when I have nothing doing, I simply go online to claim more free bitcoins, I also use it to buy things online wherever it is accepted.

With bitcoin you exercise freedom and liberty, being independent of the government. Such a freedom provider must be equivalent to Mother. No doubts.
I store my bitcoins waiting for it to have more value, like Mother cares for us always. I do not have any plan to sell of my bitcoin, because in future it will be more important to me than today.

I would say its tied between store of value and using it as a payment to friends and family. It's so much easier to pay someone I owe or have someone pay me back instead of using cash or traditional banks with transfers. Also great that it isn't reversible compared to PayPal.

There needs to be alot of work done with regard to block size, fees, and general applications, but bitcoin is doing very well.  The only thing that is a concern / big concern is the event that SHA256 is broken.

I am not using bitcoins as of right now. I am holding for the moment like most people are at this point. I might sell when I think that I can benefit of the profits I will make.
Until then I will be holding and earning as much bitcoin as I can, I would have to rethink about buying bitcoin for now.

Some estimates suggest that upto 40% of Bitcoins are sitting in an exchange, where users wait for it's price to go up.
This is the reason why many governments do not consider Bitcoin to be currency, because a currency is not a speculative asset.

Bitcoins are still in an early stage when it comes to adoption and developments, a completely different new-era technology based on ledger and provides the anonymity one needs to do his/her deals in private...

Doing something like that would completely kill Bitcoin.

I use bitcoins to buy stuff at a discount price as well, like steam games as stuff. Because people don't trust Paypal these days.

I personally say 2. Not totally, but cost enough. It's an asset that had the potential to become a global currency, as it is borderless, peer-to-peer, decentralised, and has a super fast transaction speed if you get the mining fee right.

Besides that, I just love the magic of the blockchain. How an open ledger can keep users anonymous.

My thoughts exactly. A store of value for the long term would be savings. Bitcoins are definitely not savings at this point. I don't go looking on a stock exchange for the most volatile start-ups and invest my down payment for a house in it!

I voted speculation. When Bitcoins are more mature and stable they'll be a long term store of value for me.

Speculation. I like the btc as an optional way to make money. I have been forex trader for several years and I have learned to avoid excessive love for any currency or commodity: buy it low, sell it high.

Bitcoins is most important to me because its benefits and services are giving us something better way for our life. Its price increasing on daily basis, its popularity on transactions speed makes us happy and using the Bitcoins transfer to pay money to my parents.

I have bought several domains with bitcoins last year.I didn't have credit card so I was not able to upload my funds at PayPal which kept me out of buying several things online.Bitcoin made my job easy now I can pay for buying domains and hosting

Exactly, even I work for full time in bitcoins and earning good amount of it, and generally I use bitcoins for online transfers as it is far better then WU or Paypal as their fees are pretty high and the process is time consuming, where as with bitcoins the credits are instant with very less transaction fees.

I save bitcoin by buying on monthly basis. I put into bitcoin saving more than 20% from my regular job salary. This may explain how much bitcoin is important to me.

Voted for Payment mechanism, I feel it is much easy to spend and receive online for all purposes, either it be shopping, gambling or any other need. Doing it with cards and/or payment processors in between just complicates stuff.

hello. I do use the bitcoin as a way of storing the wealth that I have. For a long time, it has been happening to gold and i now shifted to the bitcoin because they are able to grow more than you can ever imagine. Yeah bitcoin helps me to purchase goods online as first there was only option to buy using credit cards, and I don't hold credit cards, so with the existence of bitcoin I can purchase goods online and also I can remit money across the globe at any time with very cheap transaction costs and that is the reason I use bitcoins.

This is what I have been trying to say to some of my relatives. They just wont believe me. Sending money thru bitcoin is better than any other money transfer company because of that transferring fee that is too large with them.

I use it to buy things online safely. I never use paypal if I am dealing with real people as they can reverse the transaction and take my money.

I can do online jobs offered by any one in the internet and get paid in bitcoin, like doing signature campaign as well.

I like bitcoin because it's simple to use and most of all because it's decentralized

Signature campaign is the best source to earn some bitcoins the most important thing for me about bitcoin is the price volatility as I can make some quick profits out of it with trading as it is not possible to earn with trading from gold or forex, I buy when price falls down and sell hits up and that is the best way to play with bitcoins I guess.

Nice question. From the options to vote I have selected "Store of value similar to something like Gold/silver". I see Bitcoin as a form of long term investment to invest only that amount that I can afford to lose. Even though it isn't as volatile as it used to be, I still find it a risky investment due to its quite volatile price.

Right now, Bitcoin is kind of investment for me.
I believe that very soon bitcoin will become mainstream and that its value will increase significantly.

Bitcoin is pretty much just a hobby for me. I own a few and like everyone else I secretly hope they skyrocket to some absurdly high amount in the next few years, but in all reality if it went away it wouldn't be the end of the world for me. I have played with mining alts and trading them for BTC, sent a few BTC to various exchanges and "day traded" with  them, bought some stuff online using BTC, but at the end of the day I can do all this without bitcoin.

For me it is rather speculation.
I keep what i have for the long future and see what happens over a few years. I have plenty of time.
From time to time i use an exchange for some new coins of which i buy small amounts in the hope they stay.
I have further always (bitcoins of course) but also Litecoin and Dogecoin.

in december 2015,i remember it was a hard period for me to earn and active on bitcoin world,and then i start active and use my bitcointalk account for join signature campaign,and then until now i start confident to collect bitcoin for bitcoin halving.

Really really IMPORTANT in my doing of business online and IRL :3 It's my sole payment processor as I haven't gotten that much in tune with other payment processors that require you to have a bank account/credit card or some hefty identification that I could not just provide.

It is very true that trading especially Bitcoin / Altcoin is very challenging.  Even if you research on altcoins there is any hard material to rely on how you will predict the outcome.  Almost every thread is either FUD or Hype and baseless speculation.  But if you are lucky enough to jump in the train of a succesful coin, you be one rich guy.  For example, way back last year NEM/XEM were under 50 satoshi and now it is over 600 satoshi, those who accumulate that time and sell now will surely have a very good profit.  Then way back that year Bitcoin is around 300 USD to 400 USD and now it increased in price. So it's a double bonus for those XEM holder if they change their holding to bitcoin and then cash out.

Earning bitcoin is my only source of income as of right now because I'm still just a student. It's a good thing that bitcoin is there for us. While some of us don't necessarily have a special skill, we are still able to get bitcoins through signature campaigns and all the microjobs that we can do.

For me, bitcoin are a store of value for the buy and hold.  As its popularity increases, so should its use and therefore its price.

The first one for me is speculation. I use bitcoin in trading hoping that when I profit and gained significant amount then I can use it as payment mechanism to my family and friends. i am also a student like you and apparently only in bitcoin which i am earning money by atleast on the internet for an hour i am earning $2-$5 dollar per day that depends on how much time i put up in posting then i converted my income to load which i am also selling then the real profit would go down after the load i sell has consumed.

Wow 12hrs daily is quite though i spend only 2hrs per day in posting but yea you are correct i also wanted to enhance my life thru bitcoin i am working on strategies to enhance my earnings as a student it is my only source of income

Well 12 hours is ok in my opinion :D actually having a free time,  spending 12 hours of your time everyday knowing bitcoin  is quite  not enough.  There are lots of aspect of Bitcoin we need to know, like if one  is into trading, research about stuff to trade needs alot of time, once establish you won't stop only trading one item, then every day a new opportuniity to trade openned and you  need to research them and think of your strategy to make it fruitful.

No one can predict the future just be a realistic person, otherwise from that. Sometimes the reality is different with any expectation. I can say fine for you believed with bitcoin but there is another reason, you need to consider about that.

Well i think its possible that you can buy those 56 inch led or any things that you want for the future just to hold more coins in your wallet just save it and don't spend it..  and i think you can buy in the future.. and your right you need multiple source to get reach those dream..

Bitcoin is more important to me because with bitcoin I can earn money on internet more faster and with that i will not need to pay high fees of transactions when sending money to any person or receiving from someone and the third thing is that payment with bitcoin is much convenient.

Its important more than my real money, sounds crazy isin't? For what I'm trying to say that Bitcoin is like a family to me. Why? it is because if we only know how to gain it we must take action on how to make it grow.  Same as of how we obey our parents we must take action., and that action is to OBEY while in Bitcoins we must TRADE if the price is high. :)
