This is one of the first questions I get to be asked when talk to people about BTC, how did I get in?

My story s simple, in late 2012, I had an extra PC and I started browsing make money online forums to find something to do with that machines. People suggested botting, social signals etc., and one day someone suggested to mine BTC. I got into mining and have been into this beautiful economy ever since.

What about you?

This question asked many times before, I got into bitcoin when I found about this on news and online websites.

Found it as a Rewards on a gaming site and reading further into it before coming hooked for life.

When was this? If it was in the news, you must ve been quite late to the game.

I think the first time I probably heard about it, was when I was in the market for a new gaming card {gpu} ... I had a very good card, but I was looking for something faster and

better.. you know the story... You always want the bragging rights for having the best and fastest gaming rig. I wanted to sell my old card, and a guy at a LAN party asked me

why I wanted to sell it, if it can still make me some money from it? I was intrigued and he started to tell me about Bitcoin mining.... this sparked my first interest.   ::) ... I  

invested into gaming... and only invested into Bitcoin later.  ;D ...These types of videos became popular on youtube :

I was later to the game when I took it to heart; previously not believing this btc as a real possibility.

If I would have believed I would have kept a wallet somewhere for if this came up on the news. I

began to work on faucets and altcoin mining to sell them for bitcoin.

Unfortunately only at the start of the 2013 bubble when the price was around 500 USD.

Heard of it before through a Dutch tv show that showed how to buy hard drugs using silk road and bitcoin, but at that time I thought 15 USD for a bitcoin was way too steep (as I knew nothing about it). Briefly looked into how to mine it, but it all seemed too complicated at the time.

way back 2012 i didnt know ive been mining BTC for others. i remember playing rangnarok online and the private server owner ask its users to run some applications and we will get in game rewards by running it daily. the first time i broke my 8400GS videocard due to BTC mining cause of over heat.

at first I was like looking for an online business, and my target is actually a google adsense, but it is very difficult to find dollars with Google Adsense, so I'm looking the other way, and I learned bitcoin, it is very easy and good bitcoin in use. I think that by the end of 2014  :D

because i loved mining back than when it was possible, and i mined my first bitcoin with a gpu, since there i was searchign to learn everythign about how mining work

I got into bitcoins through another forum (online earning same as you) back in 2012. someone in that forum told me i can earn bitcoins from coinurl and then exchange bitcoins to usd. i earned a few mbtc from coinurl, since then i've been earning bitcoins from various places. ;D

Hehe, yes, I remember reading about it even during early 2012 but at that time I thought, "WTF, magic coins which can be mined?????", yeah, sure. So I passed on that offer. It was a mistake, BIG mistake.

From a news report on TV... then I started reading up on the internet and find it really interesting. Still accumulating bit by bit and hopefully I can achieve my goal of 1 million bits!  ::)

mid-2014, I saw my friend post earnings from bitcoin, after that I started finding out what it is and how to get bitcoin

I honestly cant really remember, i think it was possible a while back i was reading on overclockers people speaking abut their mining rigs and i thought to myself "what the hells a mining rig?" . After reading all the comments people had made i realised id missed the boat on mining these bitcoin things but id already been bitten by the bitcoin bug. And here i am today.

my story is, in 2012 or 2013 i searching on google how to make online money. and one of the result is about bitcoin, so i find how bitcoin works and after that i find bitcointalk.org and now i earning bitcoin from this forum.

Months ago, my friend said he earned money from bitcoin and said this website is the main place for his earning (since he's earning with signature campaign).

He bought PC parts, games etc, soo it makes me wonder why shouldn't i join ? soo here I am now.

Get into bitcoin from a ptc ads, which bring me to faucet, and I see the price reach $700, it first 2014, I start to be a faucet hunter then I realize if it wasted my time, so I try to find some giveaway and contest, then I'm here, I'm learn through this forum.

Some friends in late 2012 were mining with their home PC's and told me about that you can earn money with your GPU. I gave it a try, but 24 hours of non stop mining brought me nothing worthy of my time, so I left. When I cam back in very early 2013 I bought my first coins because I couldn't mine them. That's how my Bitcoin journey started. :)

I just searched "old school coins trading" on Google in 2011 after when I was first introduced to Bitcoins by Google itself...
It was the day I checked this thing out, had belief in Bitcoins, but left as my father wasn't agreeing with me, I asked him to buy me a load of coins for $1k when the price was cheapest...
Today, I regret I should have managed the money from somewhere else, I could have been a millionaire if not a billionaire at the least...

Have you ever explained your father what he d missed? If yes, what does he say now?

I was searching on internet for new forums to join & learn and found this forum bitcointalk, then learned about bitcoin and invested some money in early 2012, bitcoin was my best investment with huge return, my golden day

I have also heard about bitcoin in 2011 to 2012 but at that time i hadn't care about it too much (my mistake) as i was quite busy in making money from PTC. But when mining become difficult and price was high i was back to bitcoin. I miss the chance of being early adopters.

My friends introduced me to Bitcoin in 2014. Ever since then, I have been in love with it.

I heard about bitcoin in 2013, read some about it. Many accused it to be a scam later so I did not give a damn about it. 2 years later, found out some of my colleagues are earning a lot trading bitcoins and it sparked my interest. I entered late in the scene, but better late than never, right? If I have known that bitcoin is the future, I should have engaged earlier.

i got into bitcoin like two years ago when i saw it on my local news, i thought it was pretty interesting thing to check out, and im interested in it even to these days, though i have never been a serious investor and i never put into bitcoin more than i can afford to loose

Well, I knew about bitcoin from a blog about earning money online last year. I started earning some cents from faucets and games but I stopped because it was boring.

Through a friend of mine, Len Sassaman, he mentioned it once to me back in early 2011, didn't do much with it back then but rediscovered it in 2012 - 2013.
Haven't looked back since..

At the end of 2013, A friend of told me he made about $10K USD from mining bitcoin.   Like an idiot, I jumped in and bought a bunch of bitcoin miners and also a few bitcoins at the top of the market.  To date, I still have not recovered half from my investments.

I first got to know about bitcoin a couple of years back but I didn't think that it would grow as much as it has to date.
I only got into it last year, seems late to some people but I don't think it's ever too late to invest or to earn bitcoins.

Bitcoin word first time I heard from a friend in middle of 2013.That time all was seeming unbelievable and like dream.He kept insisting ans in couple of month I began to take interest in Bitcoin and since then I am fully in this amazing innovation of the last few hundred years.

I love the world of technology. and I think that bitcoin is today's technology. I like bitcoin because bitcoin is a technology.

I heard Bitcoin mining can earn a good profits in 2013! And I I bought an  ASIC and start mining! Until now.

What was your initial investment, if you do not mind sharing this info? It must ve been huge since you still have not been able to recover it after more then 2 years.

I got into it after I saw it had gone over $1000 each on the news. Each time bitcoin makes the news more people must hear about it like I did, and some of them will get into it. I'm annoyed I missed the chance to be an early adopter, but most bitcointalk members feel that way.

one of my friend introduced me to bitcoin from other game site, first the site which he introduced is quoinpro, but it was very very less bitcoin and that too that site was a scam. after that one more friend from the same site to whom i told about bitcoin and he told me about this site and how he is earning from signature campaign.

after coming to this site i got so many information of bitcoin and its technology that i got addicted and now i am earning nice from signature payment and getting more knowledge.

Sounds like he might have paid way too much for those miners if he bought them at the end of 2013, while his friend must've bought his before the bubble.
Bitcoin prices were over $1000 back then, miners would be sold for a premium if I remember correctly.

I started a few months ago with bitcoin.

My friend showed me a video and i downloaded the wallet. Then came on this forum and from there it went more and more bitcoin for me.

I am new to bitcoin as invited by a friend of mine, I only knew about this in July 2015, I was asked to join this forum to learn about bitcoin, so that's why I joined here

I got introduced to bitcoin accidentally. It was about two years ago I happened to see an ad with bitcoin payment logo. I made a google search and found a lot of information. I just stated getting interested and now I find  myself deep in to it.

I wanted to make a transfer of money and was looking some cost effective,fast and more flexible way to perform transaction then a friend of mine suggested me Bitcoin.I was with some doubts at first then I got in after understanding and knowing more about it.

late of 2014, i saw the BTC logo "Bitcoin accepted" on a PTC website, which actually i used than (which is gone now). And then just started to search about bitcoin on google and now i'm here. Actually there's a small story behind i came to bitcointalk.org too :P

I was searching for online income that time , i saw a thread of how to earn doing small online works , from that link i came to know about Bitcoin. Then i searched more about Bitcoin, first i came to faucet and was earning little bit, then some more searching i done and came to know about this forum and then started to surf bitcointalk and got so many information about bitcoin and alt coins and then also came to know about signature campaign and started to earn high, after some months i will come and tell how much i earned.

In spring 2011 I read about a way to "make money with your computer" in a PC magazine I used to buy now and then. I believed it was a joke at first, but having heard about Seti-at-Home many years ago when I read about Bitcoin using peer2peer technology (we all know what that was used for in the 2000s) it immediately caught my attention. On top of the word "peer2peer" the virtual currency/gold reminded me of World of Warcraft gold, or better Diablo2 virtual items. I knew that people sold unique virtual goods on ebay and I even bought such an item once for Diablo2. I knew virtual goods are a real thing and could be used to make actual (fiat) money. The virtual world is R E A L. I had the feeling many people would take a long time to realize this, but eventually it would become clear, at least to the new generations growing up digital. They don't have to touch something to take it seriously and buy apps on mobile phones all of the time.

I bought a passively cooled 5770 and started to mine, shortly followed by a 5870 and in no time I had my first mining rig going in June 2011 using plastic baskets as a nicely air cooled "container". Sadly, I lost 50 Bitcoins to the Bitcoinica debacle, generally sold most of my coins way too early (2012) and lost more on exchanges like vircurex and during the altcoin crash. On the other side, I survived the Tradehill closure, Bitmarket.eu "hack" and avoided other scams all around by simply not using their services. Never keep any amount of BTC at a third party exchange, always keep your private keys, run a full node or use an offline storage or a hardware wallet like Trezor.

This is the same case with me as well. I was searching for some information online and came across a faucet which has a bitcoin logo. Whiel searching about what is bitcoin, I got this forum and from then I am just addicted to this currency. I now hold cash in my bitcoin wallets only.

I've discovered them in 2011 I guess, when I received some amount and spent them on some zynga rewards. Didn't know it was BTC till friend told me about them in 2014 and my memory was back

I got into it by reading on a forum and winning a reward there. It was my first BTC, and i exchanged some since.

A friend was into bitcoin years ago, I wish I wasn't so dismissive, paranoid, ignorant whatever. Unfortunately I'm late to the party.

I first heard about Bitcoin in 2012, I even invited a "Guess Post" from a software engineer (someone I did not even know) to explain it at my blog.  But, I took no action re buying BTC.

It wasn't until 2013 when Zero Hedge put up a series of articles, that drew in BTC fans, that I actually acted.  And it was the help of those at ZH who got me started.

NONE of my "normal" friends nor family were or even now are into BTC.

I heard on the news about it.

I just don't remember exactly how I got interested in bitcoin I think I read some article about it online and eventually ended up here on this forum during my search on Google about bitcoin.I think everyone who love or uses bitcoin,comes here at least once in his life :D

It seems lots of people got in cause of direct recommendation from their friends. I guess, even in this age of technology, the direct, mouth to mouth, recommendation still gives the best results.

first heard i have about bitcoin is in year 2014 and i only can earn it around 0.005 per week and that's all is from faucet site and my first claim faucet is freebitco.in

A friend of mine started with faucets too... Also Freebitco.in. He has some artistic skills and started offering his services for BTC... He now owns almost 100 bitcoins and paid

all of his debt. We did not know that both of us, was into bitcoin... and only recently found out, when we got together in a pub. We regularly attend meetups together now, and

we are much closer than before, due to bond we share with Crypto currencies.  ;D

Thats cool dude. I heard 1st about bitcoin from one of my collegue. We had chat about world currencies at that In between He start to about digital form currencies. That was the first I hear about bitcoin.

Reading the responses in this thread it seems that the majority of people in here were on their quest for online income? That's quite a surprise actually as I thought it was the need for some transfer of value that people would lead them eventually to the search for BTCBTCBTC.

As for me, I was browsing TPB as well as sci-hub, and noticed they'd only accept donations via BTCBTCBTC. It was then I realized the power of this technology.

I heard about bitcoins two years ago but prices were too high, and i didn't see it as a good inversion and don't read more about bitcoins. And last year i saw the low prices, and i started to find more information, and reading on this forum, and joined some bitcoin courses to learn more, and with the low price i see it as a good inversion.

I just read it before in a forum also. That time the price is $1k but I didnt care about bitcoin before. I just started in bitcoin world when the price fall from $1k to $450.

Well, as it seems, the price ll get back to $1k, during this year. So accumulate as much as possible.

First time i heard about bitcoin is 2013, i heard that 1 bitcoin is has a high price same as real money. so i research about bitcoin and i focus on faucets, because i only know about faucets on that day. and in 2014 i start knowing that we can earn bitcoin not only from faucet.

Yeah don't be sad about that.It's not just you who didn't grasp the potential of BTC in the first moment.

Yeah that is true, but for me buying a bitcoin is just to expensive. So I am just glad that I can earn bitcoin with faucets.

Well I have heard from some one that use bitcoin first I didn't believe him that he have a lot of profit with just bitcoin.

Originally found out about it while reading crypto based posts, found it interesting although didn't involve myself until a few months after this.

Oh, yes, I remember those Doge time, I was still GPU mining at that time. This coins emerged and skyrocketed up. What a stupid meme, this is what I thought about it then. Heh.

for online business, bitcoin is much easier to earn than other online businesses, such as getting the dollar,
I had ever worked to earn dollars, my business is with blogs, PTC, etc
but it was too hard and the results are meager
but I see differently with bitcoin, very easy to get,

Some one told me to use bitcointalk to just learn about bitcoin and some faucets. First I tough this is so boring but after that with faucets I have seen that you can earn quite a lot of money maybe 50 cents, but is something. Also bitcointalk was nice with the signature campaign ad how good the community is trying to help you with bitcoin problems. So that is why I got in to bitcoin.

I know bitcoin as introduced by my friend.
He told me that making money in the bitcoin very easy. I got interested and I wanted to try it. At first my bitcoin mining through the faucet and then I was advised again through the signature campaign and sure enough in the signature campaign I can gather bitcoin easily.

I guess this is not a true definition at all...
I urge everyone to not give such false explanations to people who are not aware about Bitcoins...
Bitcoins ain't just about making money, it is itself a currency to live upon...
It has its own value and respect, and on other sense, it is something very innovative which even physical currencies aren't...
These physical currencies are meant to be earnt, spent and used, but bitcoins are meant to help, learn and evolve... ;)

I got into Bitcoin because I worked to advertise a affiliate through it for a client of mine and thought it would be really interesting to learn about and it is. But I also learned you could gamble with Bitcoin and that made me love it even more since laws are so strict in the US about gambling due to corporate collusion with the governments to keep gambling out of hands of citizens and in the hands of certain states here in America.

I was know about bitcoin almost 5 months ago.. myfriend told me about bitcoin and  then i was interested . So he taught me how to get bitcoin by free  :)

My friend said that he earns money by only posting at forums and doing simple jobs (typing).

Yeah I got into bitcoins 8 months ago and thanks to my friend who introduced to me bitcoins where he said that you can earn money, and it can be a good passive income, and at that moment I was jobless so knowing that this is genuine concept to earn money, I started to get into bitcoins and started earning it, and it took care of my basic expenses even I was jobless.

I get the most btc from faucets.
Using faucets brought me into bitcoin and keeps me into bitcoin.

It is perfect to use free time with faucets and earning some btc.

I got into bitcoin through people who knew other people, I thought it was fascinating to have a currency that you can't physically hold but still had  value.

I started slowly by doing faucets, meanwhile I would learn more and more about earning bitcoin and that's pretty much how I ended up here.

Exactly, same here even my friend introduced me to bitcoins as he said me that you can earn money while posting, firstly I didn't believe in him but after knowing the fact and going through the forums I actually came to know yes this is the genuine way to earn money and that can be helpful for me to take care of my basic expenses and can prove to be an good passive income.

When I got in it was at around 700 USD. Luckly I didn't buy, but I became hooked with the technology and started researching it pretty much all of my waking hours. Im glad to be here now, ready for the next massive pump this year.

Yes bitcoin can be used as passive income and the results are very good. Most revenue from bitcoin used for extra pocket money or just as a savings (like me). If many are introduced to his bitcoin continuously bitcoin users will be more and bitcoin will definitely progress

I got into bitcoin after a recommendation from one of my good friend who was earning a decent amount of bitcoin. The reason I got into bitcoin was because it helped you to stay anonymous.

Hey its little similar like me. Even one of my friend only told about this to me. He explained me about bitcoin first time I didn't was not believe him. He showed price rate in Google search. I was amazed and joined here

I don't know why but most of the people think it is anonymous ,in one way it is but definitely overrated.The transactions can be traced to your bedroom if necessary.
however, most of the people getting into coins via friends is surprising.

It s all about greed my friend. You always need to explain them how they can make money and not what BTC is. People who re not tech educated do not easily understand the entire BTC background but money making, that part everyone understands.

Exactly, once people are made aware that they can make money with btc then they would surely get attracted towards bitcoin, as everyone wants to earn money,everyone wants to get rich, my friend introduced me to bitcoin in the same way by convincing me that I can make money, and I was in.

At that time my friend showed her new headset he told me that he could buy a headset for $ 100 from bitcoin. Then I was interested because I also want to be like him, then I ask for help he gimanya how to get that much money from bitcoin. Then he showed the way and told me to make an account on bitcointalk.org and active post / comment, and I do. He advised me to play the signature campaign punctuated faucet. And finally until now I have been able to make money themselves in bitcoin  ;D
But first I did not believe it and thought only waste waste of time but my friend went on to explain and inform directly the system to earn money in bitcoin and finally I am interested

lol, same here, most people do not care about what it bitcoin, but when on a tangent if the price bitcoin, very high $ 1000 / BTC

it's all about the money. if your friends do not have jobs and need money. This is very easy to invite them to use bitcoin. I've invited some of my friends and they are many who use bitcoin until today

i came across bitcoin almost by chance, i was on a forum which i don't remember what it was but it was not related to money or bitcoin at all and saw somebody advertising his ref link of a faucet and saying you can earn money with this,... so i started that way but i read more about bitcoin and i liked it as a currency to use too.

You can have Bitcoin in different ways. I think the best way now is to invest. And that will be good in the future.
I hope later that if you invest now that you can have some profit later. And I think it will rise for a long time.

Yes indeed, investing is now the best way to get into the bitcoin, I came intro the bitcoin because of the investment I made for it.
Its also easy to make an investment and you will sure make profit on it, so its no problem.

i was introduced to bitcoin! one of my friends had found out about bitcoin and told me about it, he explained to me how all of it works and helped me get started with bitcoin.

all the information a newbie needs, i got it easily from my friend and even set up a wallet for me together.

At 25 years old I was taking out $5,000 markers (Loans) at 0% interest with a credit score of about 610.  Drugs and alcohol=Bad    Gambling and Casinos= Fun, Friday night party!!

Thats the impression I get when I accidently go to a casino on a Friday or Saturday night.

I found out about Bitcoin on another forum. I didn't know exactly what it was at first, but I played around with it and eventually liked the uses of Bitcoin.

The concept was fascinating when I first heard about it, so after some research I bought into it and have played around ever since

I get into bitcoin from my new classmate. He recommend me to invest some money into it. He also tell me that bitcoin is a very good investment. So I just traded away some $400 two day ago and now I have a profit of $40. I am scared that the price will come down later. What should i do?

I read an article about the block chain technology that banks will use in the future. The bitcoin is using it already.

my story also simple,first heard about bitcoin on website post,and interesting to collect free bitcoin to make sure that bitcoin not gonna scam me,and first time i got it is from faucet,and than doing task on website,click come ads on website paided wth bitcoin.

I was looking for a way to enable international payments an easy way for some of my online projects and PayPal, Moneybookers and such did not filled the role, too complicated, fees too high.

Back in 2014, I was working in a PTC (Paid to click) site, who was pay via bitcoin, so for getting paid from that site, I had needed an wallet because the required a BTC wallet, I didn't know what is bitcoin and how to create a bitcoin wallet, I searched about bitcoin on google, and then a deep deep and big world's open in front of me.. A bitcoin world.

In my case it happened 2 years ago, when I'm trying to buy a game(Minecraft) with my own money. I tried very hard to get it, but but in the end I gave up because everything that I've done is useless.

In my case, I wanted to make a transfer of money and was looking some cost effective,fast and more flexible way to perform transaction then a friend of mine suggested me Bitcoin.I was with some doubts at first then I got in after understanding and knowing more about it.

I heard about bitcoin in 2013, read some about it. Many accused it to be a scam later so I did not give a damn about it. 2 years later, found out some of my colleagues are earning a lot trading bitcoins and it sparked my interest. I entered late in the scene, but better late than never, right? If I have known that bitcoin is the future, I should have engaged earlier.  :'(

Me 2, but my friends told me about Bitcoin. First I dont like it, but know it is my girlfriend, I like it so much.
Sometimes I hate it sometimes I love it, You dont have control about the value and that is not fun.

You never know what can happen.

I also got it from friends, that were already involved and payed with the bitcoin, I think its a good thing you have friends that are using it already.
This is good because they can explain everything yo do not get from the bitcoin.

i know bitcoin long time ago but i don't know that bitcoin real currency cause first i heard bitcoin i just think it a time wasting and a trash or scam but when my friend cash out on bitcoin i realize that bitcoin is valuable and real money so i started bitcoin i asked my friend how can i start bitcoin and luckily he teach me and now i'm earning profit every day

In my case though i know bitcoin when someone paste some link to my fb group and he said we can earn money here in bitcoin and i got courious about it and join the crypto group at first i was introduce by member of that group to some faucet sites and When i try it i get bored easily and not continue doing it so i quit for little while because i really find bitcoin is not very easy to earn, its getting me hard time to earn with it and when i came back on usint bitcoin i really find it profitable for now because i learned already different types of program and sites where i can earn bitcoin and i really doubt i start at faucet at first time i try.
