Same here. Interested to see what will come next, an ethereum chain with delegates sounds very interesting.
I don't see a reason to change to 13 million market cap ;).

When is the Swap Going to Happen? This seems to be a very interesting Project in terms that they are FORKING the code base and making it a Ethereum Side Chain. I will definitely keep my eyes on this one!

Mining at the current value might not seem profitable, but in crypto you need to give future developments some consideration.
If you mine for immediate profit, then I agree with you. You need to remember this coin sat in limbo for a long time, I can not
change everything in one day, but after setting up new wallets, and is done with the swap, I will give you an outline of where
I am going with this, and based on that you decide if it's worth mining and holding or not.

Already? That's pretty nice... I guess you've been working on it for a little while then?
On the logo's: I'm not a big fan of any of them. If I must choose it's the first one.

Thank you for the feedback, we do need to pick a new logo to distance the new Vector from the old Vector.
I will consider this a vote for the first logo.

There is time for people to submit more logos, if you or anyone here knows someone with that kind of talent, please let them know.

I'm not complaining, but I do have a wallet with significant amount of the Vector to which I pointed. I was just surprised to see that one.

Code:
rpcuser=vectorcoinrpc
rpcpassword=password
gen=1
#staking=1
listen=1
server=1
daemon=1
rpcport=1715

currently, Vec is scrypt algo cpu mining will not do well

it's cheaper to buy than to mine now

wait till the swap and mine with GPU, hopefully it will be cheaper to mine :)

Yes the logo we choose for the GUI wallet will be the winning logo, and will get the bounty.
I won't work on the GUI wallet until the swap is done, so you have a few days to submit a logo.

I will try to turn off my AntiVirus

Let me know if it works after turning off your antivirus.

now generating DAG files ;)
aaand mining...thatnk you for your help !!!
all fine !!

________________________________

just one more question, when swap will happened then we can send that mined coins ?

and it goes like this:

personal.unlockAccount(vec.accounts[0], "password")

vec.sendTransaction({from: vec.accounts[0], to: "recipient_address", value: web3.toWei(1, "vec")})

"password" = my password
"recipient_address" = address where we send coins

and that's the only 2 fields to fulfill ?

now generating DAG files ;)
but I don't know where I can found that mined coins ??
where is my wallet address ?
I have to start Vec wallet what we used before ?

Every time you run start_gvec.bat your wallet address will be at the top of the console window.
Code:
instance: Gvec/v1.3.6/windows/go1.6.2
datadir: C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Vector
coinbase: 0x62e8fc4f03ca2e11a095d6012a66630241040e01  <--- your address

To backup your wallet, go to your roaming/Vector folder and copy the keystore folder to a safe location.

*console commands*

Check your balance:

web3.fromWei(vec.getBalance(vec.coinbase), "vec")

send coins:

personal.unlockAccount(vec.accounts[0], "password")

vec.sendTransaction({from: vec.accounts[0], to: "recipient_address", value: web3.toWei(1, "vec")})

Do not send coins you mine on this fork to yobit until the swap is done.

The old Vec wallet will not work with this ether chain, if you have coins in the old wallet, just send them to yobit before the swap and shut it down.

I have been monitoring the new chain for Vec and everything seems to be in order.
I am still trying to reach Yobit support to get the swap done asap.

I am working on a new OP to post after the swap is completed. This will
include an outline of what is being planned on the new chain. Anyone
with experience making a nice OP can help on this.

If someone is interested in joining me on the development side they can PM me anytime,
anyone with C/C++ or Golang experience is a plus.

I am also working on the GUI wallet for Vec, I should have that done sometime next week.

This weekend I will pick the winning logo that we will use for the GUI wallet.

No explorer? New dev taking over? Where are bounties coming from? is there a dev fund on new chain? What is new chain total supply? How can people actually consider buying into something without getting this basic need to know information first???

Please update the ANN with all the information that is typically required for a new project.

Thanks,
The community

no explorer yet.
new dev taking over, yes.
I bought 80k coins for bounties on yobit
If more is needed, I'll make a bounty donation address on new chain.
new chain total supply is 14 million premined for swap and whatever is mined so far.
When Yobit swaps the coins anything left from the premine will be burned by yobit.
So total supply will be determined after the swap.
I am updating the OP with information I know is accurate, I will redo the whole thing when the swap is finished.

I hope that answers your questions.

I am waiting on yobit reply to my fork request, I provided them the necessary info already.
There will be an easy to use client for windows, but the console still needs to be running for GUI to work.
Confusing comes as an inheritance from etherum, that $18 million was barely enough to buy a console wallet,
and a nice villa in Switzerland for Vitalik.

why does the dev need to disclose anything?

is the dev selling IPO or asking for money?

just let the guy work and if you like it then buy into it or mine it

Please move your Vector coins to Yobit Exchange by May 8th , to be swapped to the new chain.
Any coins left on the old chain will not be swapped. Coins not used for the swap will be burned by Yobit Exchange.
There will be no swap after the Yobit swap, if your coins are not on yobit by the 8th you will have no means to swap them afterwards.

dominikherzog: VectorDev, i report about swap 2 days ago

So I am hoping action will be taken as soon as they get to our request, Yobit is expanding lately and they are swamped by requests.
We have to give them time to catch up. Growth comes with a toll, Blacksmith must be exhausted  ;D

Please stop mining/staking on old fork and send your coins to Yobit before it's too late.

I hope you can update that when the new OP is done.

So just another anonymous dev? Do you at least plan to disclose your previous bitcointalk account so that people have more reason to trust you?

So just another anonymous dev?

That's correct

Do you at least plan to disclose your previous bitcointalk account so that people have more reason to trust you?

I wish I had access to Satoshi account but I don't  :'(

Suspiciously enormous dumps on this for a coin that's supposedly being revived. And I can't think of any good reason why you wouldn't want to reveal your previous account. Too many red flags here for my liking, but good luck to anyone brave enough to put money into it.

this coin had been sitting for months well below 100 sats... oh no so someone who had been sitting on their coins for months got a fair price for them (Compared to what they would have gotten a month ago)  derp so of course there is going to be some dumping here and there it is a crypto after all.

put a low buy in and hope it gets filled or don't, buy off the sell wall or don't... if you get'em under 500 it's a steal and under 1000 should still be a decent entry point (not much available under 1000) but it wouldn't surprise me to see a little bit of dumping from old holders so you might get lucky on low buys

I like a bit of risk, so I've stocked up pretty good

I repeat this to everyone, if you have coins on the old chain and not moved to Yobit by end of day today you risk losing those coins.

now generating DAG files ;)
but I don't know where I can found that mined coins ??
where is my wallet address ?
I have to start Vec wallet what we used before ?

Every time you run start_gvec.bat your wallet address will be at the top of the console window.
Code:
instance: Gvec/v1.3.6/windows/go1.6.2
datadir: C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Vector
coinbase: 0x62e8fc4f03ca2e11a095d6012a66630241040e01  <--- your address

To backup your wallet, go to your roaming/Vector folder and copy the keystore folder to a safe location.

*console commands*

Check your balance:

web3.fromWei(vec.getBalance(vec.coinbase), "vec")

send coins:

personal.unlockAccount(vec.accounts[0], "password")

vec.sendTransaction({from: vec.accounts[0], to: "recipient_address", value: web3.toWei(1, "vec")})

Do not send coins you mine on this fork to yobit until the swap is done.

The old Vec wallet will not work with this ether chain, if you have coins in the old wallet, just send them to yobit before the swap and shut it down.

I followed all the steps, When I check balance it showed the coins in red color..  But when try to send and receive from another computer.. It is throwing error.

I had the same problem, this algoritam is significantly different than others, I was mining with 3 GPUs 3 days, and I was thinking that I have 23 000 coins on one PC and 25 000 on the other, and than I saw that I can not send coins, so I was mining on my own fork what was on my PC, then I figure what we have to do, connect to all nodes in OP !!
check: admin.peers if you are connected and then you start to mining !!!
and then you will see the real volume of your coins....at the end I had on one PC 60 coins and on the other PC I had 0 :(
3 days...well f***, but I learned something about this algo, school can be expensive sometimes ;)

when you open the start_gvac.bat you will see

@echo off color 0A "gvec-win-x64.exe" --rpc --maxpeers 100 ....

just delete whats after 100  only keep whats showing ( it should look like this: @echo off color 0A "gvec-win-x64.exe" --rpc --maxpeers 100)

and you will see wallet sync and see the block numbers

time of this post block showing is 34092

you can try
admin.peers to see if you are connected
if it says null
add the nodes on op.

as long as you are connected to other peers, there is no worry about mining on your own fork.

I am working on the QT wallet now, it should be ready in a couple of days. It will make sending and receiving Vec much easier.

When I check balance it shows 1756.75  But I cant send or receive these.. Why ?

I am working on the QT wallet now, it should be ready in a couple of days. It will make sending and receiving Vec much easier.

you can give me your address and I will check for you if the coins exist on the main chain.

My address is.. 0xedf88a247519874ebca96c2690cc6447ba4e386e

If someone could check it against the main chain I'd appreciate it. My balance should be 8050 at this time.

This is the address for the old wallet that I thought was on the wrong chain.. 0xb1b474f4797745d577ec5448d4405f965478491c

Thanks for the help

Is there any way that I can tell if I'm mining on the right chain? I restarted my wallet once and my balance went back to zero. Is there any way I can check some kind of block status in the wallet or something?

you can try
admin.peers to see if you are connected
if it says null
add the nodes on op.

as long as you are connected to other peers, there is no worry about mining on your own fork.

As per the getting_started.txt I added these peers
admin.addPeer("enode://598773366784013bb30251ef252b55294a859a15cc92dc2fae6a876985928581353a5e4e383da8e9b44f404a9c6e31c634660fd8f4a8a374637564a3bab4e50c@198.27.90.241:11715")

Things you need to pay attention to when mining:

- server time, which is your machine time, should be accurate within a second or two and linked to an auto time updating service.

- Check to see if you are linked to peers at the start of gvec.  > admin.peers

- If you are mining every block then you are mining alone.

Yes, everyone is waiting for Blacksmith to show up and resolve all the piled up support requests.
I hope that will happen very soon.

Ok I've tried 4 different wallets on 4 different rigs and get the same results every time, I end up mining on my own chain. The wallets never sync up with anything they just start mining from block 0. I've added all of the nodes as per the instructions. These rigs have all mined ethereum solo and expanse solo so i'm not sure why i cant get them to mine vec. I've also tried adding the bootnodes in the batch file and this is what I get when I start it out of console mode.

Yeah all ports are open on the rigs. I guess i'll keep fighting with it untill I figure it out. At least I've now seen some evidence that the blockchain does exist.

Thanks

Yes, I tried 2 days ago to create a wallet on yobit and it gave me an old chain one, now I have the same message, they're working on it.

Deposits are no longer allowed from old chain, if you are still mining/staking on old chain,
you are doing so on your own fork and coins will not be swapped to new chain.

We are waiting for Blacksmith to catch up with our support request, once the new wallet is compiled
the swap will take place and it will be quick. Please give Yobit enough time to finish this process.

I will release a GUI wallet as soon as the swap is complete. Currently testing the GUI functionality.

I will contact the logo winner today so he can provide us with a proper file to include in the GUI release.

I am also putting up more bounties after the swap, to get things moving a little faster.

This Project is very interesting I would really like to connect with the New Developers that are working on this Project. I believe there is a high potential for collaboration between both houses.

Is the swap over yet guys?

I messaged Blacksmith, he is catching up on all the support requests according to priority and time submitted.
He disabled deposits to Vec until the new wallet is compiled and the swap is taken care of. We need to wait our turn in the queue.

The winning Logo has been chosen and the bounty was delivered to the winner via yobit code. I will post more bounties after the swap.

For those having issues with the wallet, I can assure you these issues are not in the code, they are the result of issues you might have on your system.

Things to look at:

System time, if you are off by more than a few seconds on your system from the correct time you will have issues.
Connectivity, if your connection to the main nodes is not stable you will have issues. Check your port 11715 on this website:

http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

Make sure your port 11715 is open, this might not cause a problem to the casual wallet user, but for the miner it will.

Coins do not just disappear, unless your connection is on and off, when your 11715 port is open you insure multiple connections to the correct chain and avoid this issue altogether.

If for security reasons you do not want that port open, I advice you not to mine, unless you are willing to take the risk of losing some mined coins when you lose connection to the main nodes.

This issue does not affect sending or receiving coins if you send a TX while disconnected the TX will remain at -1 and will not get included in a block, and no coins will be sent or deducted from your balance.

When the GUI is released it will make it easier to see information about connection and balance.

Hello

you can always mine this coin as long as you know how. You need to follow instructions to get connected and synced before you start mining.
Now you can check if you are on right fork by comparing your GUI wallet block number with the block explorer, and you are all set.

Any word from Blacksmith regarding the swap?

No word on the swap from Blacksmith yet, he will do it eventually.
The good thing is I did not sit around waiting, I got a few important things out of the way before the swap.
I have very few things left to be done before I start working on the main project, which I will outline after the swap.

* The community can contact Blacksmith as well to get the swap done, but please be polite and patient.

visud reminded me to warn people about their wallet password and how important it is not to lose it or forget it.
Your password is your coins lose it and you lost your coins. There are very rare circumstances where the password can be recovered
if you remember part/s of your password, or the characters used. Do not put yourself in this situation.

Yeah, very good to see that you don't sit around waiting, but it's hard to get a positive momentum going without the swap being done.
I'm very anxious to see your ideas for the future of VEC :), but I definitely agree, you should wait un till the swap is complete to show us your plans.

I made a support ticket asking about the swap.

I am sorry I was not around the last two days to update you, I had a family issue to deal with and now all is ok.

Before that I finished work on the API that will enable us to add VEC to coinmarketcap and other important ether chains websites.

Today you will see Vector coin supply at : http://vecsupply.tk/
* This supply only represents the mined coins so far, after the swap the total will be adjusted to show the swapped coins as well.

I Have enlisted the help of a graphic designer to make the new OP, which I hope will come out as impressive as I want it to be.

I have also started an early layout of our future website.

I have again contacted Yobit, to remind them about the swap. I have as much information on this as you do.

Things are moving at a slow pace, but nothing has stopped that is under my control at least.

Please keep up the pressure on Yobit and once the swap is done we can move on to more important issues.

It seems yobit has an issue with doing a swap, so I will do the swap manually.
Please make a yobit code of your vec coins and send me the code in PM on this forum, once I verify your coins I will add it to my spreadsheet.
When everyone has done that, I will ask yobit to update the wallet and I will send you the coins to the new address.

Please do so within the next three days. We have to put this swap behind us and move ahead.

I am sending a confirmation with your received coins once I get them, when the manual swap is done. I will send you the new coins to a new address on Yobit when they update the wallet.
That way the swap is done by us and not Yobit. I have received a lot of codes already and waiting on the rest. If you have coins please PM me your code today and tomorrow.
If you keep your coins they will stay on the old chain with the old unsupported wallet.

why dont you send the coins to the new wallet not yobit..why do you want ppl to get stuck on yobit again?

dev you collect all the coins on yobit and dump it to 0 ..use the btc made to get on trex lol ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

but from jokes aside why not give the holders the choice to deposit back to yobit?

If someone is running the new wallet already, they have that option naturally.
I just wanted the distribution to happen when an exchange is running the new wallet, so the distribution does not take more than a day.

Ok everyone I got a lot of codes sent to me and confirmed by PM, I set up a countdown  for 3 days after which no code or swap will be accepted.
I will also try to catch up with blacksmith to help with wallet code. Please do not wait till the last minute to give me your code, if there is no code by the timer end,
there will be no coins on the swap, I will only keep the code total coins and not anything extra. So if you want to keep your old coins you are welcome to do so, just
do not ask for them after the countdown is finished because you already have what you want. No exceptions, no screenshots, no claims will be accepted after the end of the countdown.
When the swap is finished I will list all the coin codes that got swapped, any remaining coins from the premine will be burned. Remember this swap is only for coins on yobit.

Please download the current wallet and run it, if you want your coins in your wallet. I will PM you for address after the countdown is over, do not send it now.

Yobit code. You need to put all your Vector coins in a yobit code and PM (private message) me the code on this forum.

It's yobicodes from yobit.net, if you have VEC in yobit, then create the yobicode for the amount of VEC you have on yobit account and pm that code to Dev.

Steps to create code:
1)Login to your yobit account
2)Click on your account name on top right of yobit webpage
3)Click on yobit codes.
4)Choose vec from the drop down box on left and enter the same amount of coins in the box on the right.
5)Click create code.

Mining not work!  Have someone the same Problem! can with the swap related?

Title: Re: Vector Coin | released | Ethereum based
Post by: VectorDev on June 12, 2016, 03:45:21 AM
I have made a sheet of the swap coins and codes.

Total coins received for swap 11922881.53380527 coins

Yobit had some issues running the gvec client, I sent them the info needed about the gvec version and go version.
If they are still having issues with this version, I will fork another client to complete the swap.
Now that all the swap info is final, I can make changes as needed knowing who will get coins from the swap.

Waiting to see if yobit can resolve the issue and run this fork before making any changes.

I have not anticipated the swap will take this long, I thought it's much easier doing a takeover rather than starting from scratch.
But it turned out to be the opposite.

At this point if all goes fine with yobit, we go ahead with the swap, if not I will start a new fork with a new coin name and award people coins based on
the amount they sent in the codes.

I know some of you are losing patience, but trust me, not more than I am.

I just tested mining and it's working fine.
The block explorer is catching up slowly because I run other software on the server.
I will try and reduce that and give the explorer more resources.
My GUI wallet is showing block 203395 and moving so no apparent issues there.
Can you specify what kind of error you are getting with mining?

We spoke in PM already about translation bounties as well as in public, we have no bounties before completing the swap.
When the swap is complete I will set the bounties and reserve greek translation for you. For now there is no way to pay that,
since the coins are being held for swap.

VEC might dead before even swap, already ETH is down bcoz of hack, they going to do hard fork,

All our btc is stuck bcoz of yobit delay .. may be it happened for gud ??

The hack you are talking about was a combination of a user "allowed" error and the Mist wallet, that's why I did not opt to use mist for our GUI wallet.
The Ether developers did not make a GUI wallet yet, all Ether GUI wallets are free contributions by various developers.
I have used version 1.3.6 of Geth which is the latest stable version.

* The hardfork they are talking about today is a DAO theft roll back, has nothing to do with geth or the main net.

Ok the swap is almost complete. Only one person left on the list, mitchr4, if you know him give him heads up please.
Now, that swap is almost done, I will send some info to the graphics guy to help out with new OP. I do work on weekdays,
So there will be a big update this next weekend. I am shooting for the coming Friday.
This swap took much more of my time than initially expected. Hopefully, I can now put down the roadmap and whitepaper by Friday.
Thank you all for your patience. I really appreciate that.

* I will burn the coins that did not swap this week as well, I will update when that is done.

hello guys,

Sorry I forgot this was the 4th of July weekend. And I had some previous commitments.
I am still around working. But will need some more time to finish.
I will set a new date for the whitepaper and roadmap for next Thursday.
It might even be before that. But I set this time to be safe.

PS. Lafu I will help you out with your TX issues in PM. It might be a connectivity issue which we can solve.

So, no news coming I guess?

The news is coming soon. Actually the delay was intentional, I have plans to move Vec into the first Ethereum 100% POS chain. I am recruiting a couple of friends to work with me on this.
I have made a roadmap that did not include this, but I am sure this will be a much better step than what will come next.

I am writing a technical paper on how to perform this change which I will publish as a proposal. More details will follow.

but network does not moving, I was mining last week normally but now, one nod doesn't work anymore, I had 3 stable, now 0 - 2 and mining doesn't work for me too, and on c-cex there is no data at "coin info"
I would love to see POW+POS better than 100% POS, people like to mining, collecting, staking

Coin dying because ccex are slow to reply to a support ticket? If that was true ccex would have killed a lot of coins by now. It's probably their wallet, the transactions show in the explorer. They don't show the eth-based coins in their wallet status page so no way to tell what block they are on or if the wallet is even running. Just keep at their support. Yobit are on the old version so that's irrelevant.

Nope i don't say the dev could do anything at yobit(ch) or C-CEX but i say the dev don't invest time to bring the coin to any projects / claims investors
so the coin has no function...
A coin without function will die.
Not more not less ...

you don't seem to understand what a open source project is... you think dev of a coin sits at the computer and just code away 24/7 to make you happy ..no rent no bills no kids?
if you want the dev to code a way 24/7 give the guy 18mil$ like eth and he will post every hr for you and pay all the exchanges to list the coin :)
dve said he will be working on POS for this coin ..and if this coin become first to do pos on Eth based code..this will be big

Oh now I understand. Coin is "dying" because the dev hasn't made you rich quickly enough.  ::) Pretty sad, he must not understand that he owes you everything for running your three little miners for a few days.

so did Yobit ever update to the new wallet? I was told I could leave my coins on there to be swapped, just noticed the wallet is still in maintenance on there.

I'm still bummed about the whole swap from the POS/POW hybrid... I normally don't hold non POS coins for very long.

and I'm also not much into showing support for anon devs at all anymore especially when they get handed off to another anon dev.

hello everyone:

I am still working on the code with the help of some very well known devs in crypto. I have asked their help to add some very fascinating features and fix some connectivity issues on the current blockchain.
I know most of you like to see more updates on the thread. That is understandable, and I am invested in this project as much as you are. However I like action better than hype, and when that comes you will not regret the wait.

Urgent Update:

Please send your coins to ccex exchange, there will be a swap happening soon and some new developments taking place.
It is very important that you move your coins to ccex exchange asap. You can still mine coins until the swap takes place.
any coins not on ccex when the swap happens will not be swapped. We are sorry to have to do this one more time, but
we have to change to a new client base to allow any further developments. Two new developers will also jump onboard.

We have updated the Op with fresh nodes, you should be able to connect and send your coins easy. If your wallet is not
connecting, delete your chaindata folder inside  the roaming/vector folder and restart the wallet, then let it sync.

backup your keystore folder before making any changes.

What codebase are we switching to?

UPDATE!

Dear Community,

After a little bit of brainstorming we decided to switch Vectorcoin back to a Blackcoin coinbase, since the Ethereum codebase was very unstable and sensitive for various attacks.
We payed C-Cex a fee to do the swap for us, so all balances on C-Cex are automatically transferred to the new blockchain.
New clients are available on our new github: https://github.com/vectorcoindev/Vector/releases/tag/v3.0.0
Please bear with us while  we discuss the road ahead for Vectorcoin. We have a few ideas and paths in mind and we’re currently figuring out what direction we should take. Your patience will be rewarded.
In the coming days we will redesign the OP to match the new logo. All information has already been updated.
See you soon!

Post by: TheStuhlman on November 09, 2016, 03:13:30 AM

Vector Dev

Thank you for the update. watching, hope the road-map is put out next.

120 blocks to mature. 3 VEC reward every block, so 3 VEC per minute.

it was marked in the announcement, but then was removed.
don't know if it was, becauseof this one big (self?)trade or because of the swap happening shortly beforethe announcement.

anyone here read what the dev said? he payed C-Cex for the sawp...

also payed for the new block explorer

yet no one even try to put buy support and cry about delisting notice?

Stacking for long run.

it's a rebrand, not a swap.

Andriy is making a code review and a wallet rebrand. (no swap needed)

So this company does not plan to have an ICO? ??? ??? How does it expect to gain capital to hire staffing? ??? ??? ???

Stfu u ico/token scammer promoter...... also shows u got no clue about REAL crypto....20% max premine so they can use some to get things rolling but nah u promo 100% premine scams... go away plz ur poison to REAL crypto.

Sure these devs could 100% premine and rape a run away like u clearly would of but they havent they have done work and some times shit happens in and out of crypto..... they might of been hit by a car or some shit, pays to be patient some times..
Ive had wallet that still run smooth 3 years after there been on any exchange and premined shit that still on exchange with dead ass wallet that never really worked as a personal wallet.
So if u knew anything about crypto and used vec wallet u would know it was 1 of the faster to scny and smoothest wallet of its time..but clearly like i said ur just a fool.

If the wallet scny is all that worry's me... addnodes any1? 8)
