I know there are a lot of wallets available.
This is why I want to know your opinion what is the best online Bitcoin wallet, in level of security, protection of our Bitcoins and availability of support.

I suggest using a wallet from blockchain.info proven safety and many bitcoin users who use their services. Or you can choose here https://www.bitcoin.com/choose-your-wallet (https://www.bitcoin.com/choose-your-wallet) thank you

Blockchain.info since they allow you to have access to your private keys (legacy wallet because new wallet don't allow that) and there is also 2FA which increase the security too.
I wouldn't recommend storing in exchanges like Coinbase or Bitstamp etc...

In your opinion, Xapo is enough secure to store Bitcoins?

It is best to just avoid web wallets. Why do you need to use one? How about a desktop wallet, something in the lines of Electrum?

In your opinion, Xapo is enough secure to store Bitcoins?

wallets like Xapo, coinbase are good but there is a problem with them. you don't have access to your private keys so you don't control your bitcoins, they do.

this means in case they go under for any reason (bankrupts, fraud,...) you will lose all your money.

but wallets like blockchain.info are not like this because you have the private keys.

IMPORTANT: online (web) wallets are not secure because they are all susceptible to hack. try to use cold storage instead, if you have many bitcoins.

I choose blockchain.info for the best online bitcoin wallet. Because blockchain is my first bitcoin wallet and until now there is no problem to blockchain and there is a big update on their wallet though.

There is no other explanation but people being too lazy to download software, install it and learn how it works.

Hopefully in the future software gets more user friendly, but I mean using Electrum it's pretty damn easy already.

Bitcoin Core is better, but Electrum is several orders of magnitude better than using any online wallet.

I guess dealing with stuff on a web browser is attractive for newbies or something.

i suggest coinbase, they have 2fa so getting hacked is pretty unlikely. the reason i dont like blockchain is because its too slow. i have to login everytime i want to check the balance. their app sucks. and coinbase has an amazing app.

I disagree. Coinbase allows 2FA however and unlike Blockchain.info they don't give you access to your private keys so If they want to run with your funds or they get really hacked/ or goes down for some reason you won't be able to access your funds .
If you want to check your balance simply search for your address in the blockchain.info and then bookmark that way you see your balance without connecting into your wallet each time.

Every online wallet, exchange or service is advertised as ultra secure until proven otherwise.
If something is accessible, has online presence and is centralized, sooner or later there is possibility of security breach of some sort.
It either can be human error of the staff of security flaw in script etc.

I will restrict my answer to your question since other members warned you about the risks of an online wallet
I tried blockchain.info, coinbase, xapo
The first one offers for you the private keys but I experienced with it many bugs especially when there is an attack
Coinbase and xapo offers free transactions (you don't have to pay fees) but in xapo you can't access to your bitcoin address unless after verification which I found abusing

Many have asked this question several times in this forum. I am using blockchain.info from the day 1 i heard about bitcoin without problem but if you don't feel much secure with completely web wallet electrum also provide liteweight software where private key is stored in your side rather than in electrum database. I suggest don't put all your bitcoin in one wallet better you devide them in different wallets. I haven't used xapo, coinbase etc much.

Blockchain.info web wallet is on the top of list . But sometimes it gets offline when I need it to send btc or watch block mined. So i have maintained another web wallet on Coinbase and its good.

Well you can sign message on new webwallet also. Mitchell somewhere posted about it with images.

Here is the Mitchell post if anyone wants to know about how to sign a message on new blockchain webwallet

I have used most of the Bitcoin online wallets and at the moment I have chosen GreenAddress as my main wallet. It offers an app for mobile devices so you will be able to log in from your phone and it also has a plugin for the Chrome web browser so you have a lot of options to choose from when it comes to logging it and managing your funds. Also I want to mention my favorite feature of this wallet and that is the PIN code which is a string of numbers you could set in for a very quick login when you are in a hurry. You shouldn't be worried about getting compromised because after 3 wrong inputs it disables the PIN code and prompt you for your normal password. The user interface is not cluttered at all and it's designed to be very intuitive. For security and protection you could enable 2 factor authentication and also you can link to 3rd party accounts to check their balances from inside the wallet. All in all a pretty robust online Bitcoin wallet for all your needs ;)

I use btc-e.com and never had problems since 2013. They have 2FA as security and you can whitelist the ip's of your choosing. As far as i remember they never gone offline or attacked by hackers. (I may be wrong on this one) Still, online wallets are online and they are not as safe as your core wallet. I wouldn't put my life savings in there.

With all due respect to you OP, there are already threads like this in the past. If you truly wants to seek it you can search for it.

There's no web wallet to be considered as best wallet in terms of "protecting bitcoins" like you stated as one of your criteria of choosing. All web wallets have chance of becoming a fraud one but it doesn't mean they can't be trusted.

Just use some of them for a purpose like when saving transaction fees or by means of converting coins.

In terms of support availability, I see Coinbase and XAPO has fast response since I already send queries to them many times.

Coinbase gives customers the option of using a multisig vault (https://support.coinbase.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1612208-vault-faq?b_id=13521). The multisig vault is as safe as a local wallet if you make the election to maintain control of the private keys yourself. Should Coinbase go down you can transfer your funds to another wallet using their open source recovery tool (https://github.com/coinbase/multisig-tool).

If you want more security than that offered by the Coinbase Vault you would need to use a hardware wallet like Trezor or Ledger.

I've only known two online wallets, which are blockchain.info and xapo.
Blockchain.info used to be an official wallet on the trusted list on bitcoin.org back then but now it's not there anymore.

I don't exactly know the reason for this but I do believe blockchain.info still is a secure wallet.
Xapo, on the other hand, is a transaction-free-free online wallet so I'd suggest you use xapo for small and frequent transactions.

mt gox, cryptcy, btter,... they all didn't go offline or be attacked before their incidents either. it happens once and that only one time is enough to lose all your money. they can easily close down shop and run away with your money and tell you that they were hacked just like the others did and you can do nothing about it but sit around and look at what you have lost.

If your using an online wallet you don't own any bitcoins. All you own is a IOU from an uninsured an unregulated service provider who is controlled by people legally obligated under the law under threat of criminal prosecution to protect the shareholders investments over the users money, your money.

Call me paranoid. But I personally wouldn't download anything bitcoin related from Google and Apple stores. There were numerous reports about malicious apps (even extremely popular ones)
which successfully managed to slip through security of these stores. Bitcoin is still new area for most people and we will see many fake apps, like wallets and news depository etc.

Well, I believe that if you're looking for total security for your coins then you should be looking at some cold storage wallets like paper wallets, or some hardware wallets like Trezor.

Coinbase and Xapo doesn't offer you the option to control your own keys, so it's always riskier.

I think so too, because you can actually control your own private keys, export and import them with ease, on both your laptop and your phone. It is also one of the most popular ones right now.

It's way better than wallets like Coinbase and Xapo because you simply have a peace of mind that you're the only one with full control of your own coins.

Me too, as for me, blockchain is the best wallet of all and the most secured one I think. Besides all of our transaction is being processed in the blockchain. Another thing is in my experience, in one of the wallet that I am using after sending a bitcoin in a certain wallet the status that appeared in the wallet that I am using is waiting for confirmation but when I checked blockchain, it says that my transaction has already been confirmed.

But blockchain has also a negative side, because you can not use it to convert the bitcoin in your own fiat money unlike the other bitcoin wallet available in the net.

Yes all bitcoin wallet provider sites are trusted you just need to know where you can find satisfaction in using their online wallet.

I know there are a lot of wallets available.
This is why I want to know your opinion what is the best online Bitcoin wallet, in level of security, protection of our Bitcoins and availability of support.

I think all wallets are good, depending from how much money you have to keep in that wallet you need to choose safer wallet. I use xapo from beginning and I never ever had any problems with them. I use it cause its very simple, and protection is good I think. Before any sending I need to confirm it with code sent on my mobile number.

Hardware wallets are good for big amounts, so if you are rich person its good option for you.

Thank you for your answers.
In your opinion, Xapo is enough secure to store Bitcoins?
no,xapo same like coinbase, you dont have access to your private key so we dont have ultimate controll over our bitcoin, they do, i dont recommend storing high volume out there, but for spendable amounts i have no doubt
so far blockchain, info is good choice for storing your bitcoin since you have ultimate controll over your private key
just in my opinion

I am absolutely certain that the safest online wallet is Coinbase. This does not mean that it is entirely safe. I recommend to keep everything at own PC and also make two copies of wallet.dat on external memory (USB stick, CD)

I am also suggesting for xapo as with xapo you will not have to pay the fees of transactions you make, but the xapo community will pay your transaction fees, but I will not suggest for coinbase as a number of people have issues with that nowadays.

That's also what I can say with blockchain.info, it is very easy to use and convenient. I have use also xapo but it is very hassle, let's say
2FA is a good security feature, but it is very hassle and long time for sending it's verification to my phone. Sometimes not just long time,
it is really not sending the code. That's why I shift to blockchain.info

most probably i have never used better services though i dont need anything else to be honest
that's what i'm doing, after get satisfied with 1 service, not tried another service yet  ;D

Many have asked it.
I think for now best online wallet is blockchain.info that you can use now.
you can access directly, or if you have a smartphone I recommend to download wallet blockchain available on the Play Store and AppStore
I'd have to disagree that blockchain.info is the best online wallet, as of now. Why? Because I've been seeing a lot of reports and bugs on blockchain and as for me, I have experienced them myself. Sometimes, the fees just surge too much for a small transaction.

The best online-wallet is a diverse wallet. It means you have to make multiple accounts. So if one is being hacked you still have the other one. I proposed blockchain wallet since it has a 2fa authenticator and has an identifier which makes it hard to access. Secondly when you make a blockchain you must make an e-mail for that purposes only. then after creating the wallet you must copy the identifier and save it in your hardrive and delete it on your email to make it safe from hackers.
Its easy to hack wallets through emails, especially when your email that you used in your wallet is the same with your facebook, instagram etc. So you must delete the identifier on your email so they cant access your wallet.

Don't use online wallets. Online wallets are dangerous services to use. Immediately switch to a software or hardware wallet found on bitcoin.org. I like Electrum or Bitcoin Core 0.12

Definitely. One of the best things about blockchain.info is it's newbie friendly and completely safe. You still have the possession of your own private keys although you may be using their service.

And that is unlike Coinbase or Xapo which doesn't let you take control of your own keys.

Hi Woshib, since I have only 2 wallets which is blockchain and coins.ph only, I can only give comparison between the two. Speed of confirmation wised, I prefer blockchain because all of the transactions in the different kind of wallets in all countries pass through blockchain and for  in one of my experience, my  transaction was already confirmed in blockchain but not yet in coins.ph. :)

Blockchain.info is probably the one that I would trust and go with. Never trust your bitcoins with a third party that doesn't let you access your own private keys(Coinbase, Xapo, Localbitcoins).

Only use those services in the short term. Store bitcoin in the long term in cold storage wallets.

I agree with many here on Blockchain.info. In case you are wondering they have 0.0001 BTC transaction fee which I think is OK.

That's what I'm going to pick also, blockchain.info is the best online wallet for me, because it is very safe and easy to use.
And they are just only charging a very small amount of transaction fee.
yeah although blockchain.info is a wallet from a third party but blockchain have a level of security and confidence is high. they provide an easy to use wallet they also provide authentication for the wallet. for the safety and convenience of the wallet blockchain is the best

maybe there is an another wallet have the same quality with block chain. but all wallet site have a 2FA can increase the protection with your bitcoin.

i suggest you read about cold storage and learn what it is first before giving opinion on how it works. in short cold storage is storing your coins offline, on a computer that is not connected to internet or on a piece of paper, so you don't download anything (the blockchain) to take a long time!!

I'll go for blockchain if it's regarding to online wallet. For me, Blockchain has simple interface for new user and advanced user and it's secure enough for your bitcoin, especially its private key feature and you can download it to save or move your bitcoin to other service.

Basically, there are many online wallets right now like blockchain, coinbase, and xapo. I believe all of them are good enough because they have provided security solution for new user to avoid hacking activity as long as you activate your second authentication system. Also, if you want free transaction fee without slowing your transaction to be confirmed, you can go for xapo.

I have been using Blockchain.info for more than 4 years now. I have used other online wallets as well (starting with the now defunct Instawallet in 2012)... but none of them could beat Blockchain.info in safety and other important aspects. Another important aspect is that with Blockchain.info, you can specify the fees which you wish to pay. In some of the other wallets, that option is not there.

In the online wallets i would prefer Xapo. It has a strong security and 2 Factor based authentication. The best part is that there is no fee for tx and all the transactions are free without any fee.

Well, I think the best online wallet is probably Blockchain.info at the moment, because all the others give you no control over your own private keys. Or you could try bitaddress.org, but that's not really a wallet.

I suggest not using Xapo... You need to get phone verified just to send coins xD

XAPO is an exchange so it's reasonable for them to ask about phone verification. Part also of a security.

Coinbase and Coinsbank also has the same feature which is common for bitcoin exchanges.

Blockchain.info gives you private key

Do they still give it in the new version?
For me, when I send money from my blockchain.info wallet they empty my whole wallet and send change to address that I don't see in my wallet list and I cannot get private key for.
Is there somewhere option to disable that?

The hardware wallet is different than online wallets, the online wallets can be accessed from many devices (from the phone too) but hardware wallets should be linked to the computer and some of them like ledger can be plugged on phones too which support OTG.

Hardware wallets are safer than online wallets in terms of online hacking incidences, or at least that's what I think. However, it's just a personal opinion though, online wallets are more convenient for me because I can open them up wherever I am without having to bring my laptop around everywhere.

best bitcoin wallet for me is blockchain.info as i always use it and everything is always fluent
Well, blockchain is not the most fluent online wallet, but surely is one of the most secure wallet.
The new wallet there they launched is a confusing one, because we cannot send bitcoins from multiple addresses to someone.
I think every wallet has the advantages of each. Sometimes you can get facilities such as free on xapo fee or you can get the private key and full access of blockchain. and etc
all wallets have their respective advantages. I think it's safe is something you create yourself

For small payments i use Blockchain.info ore Multibit but i also got a Trezor where i keep 99% of my coins there.

After the next major bull-run the price will be settled in the 1k-5k range, if you have min 5-10 coins you prefer that $5000-$10000 on a hardwarewallet than a online wallet service.

The blockchain is not very secure buts its okay and they are having right now also a 2fa verification so that makes it pretty nice.
Its of course still online but one of the best wallets to do payments for sure!

IMPORTANT: online (web) wallets are not secure because they are all susceptible to hack. try to use cold storage instead, if you have many bitcoins.
-snip-
On http://www.blockchain.info, there are transaction fees?

whatever transaction that actually goes on the blockchain, technically, shouldn't include a tx fee but in reality unless a tx fee is included it does not have a an actual chance of going through!
more info on tx fee Here (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_fees) & Here (https://bitcoinfees.github.io).

personally i don't like the new blockchain.info; (if you actually care to know why lemme know!)

also, i agree with talkbitcoin;
use a lightweight desktop wallet like electrum or multibit;
much more secure, not a huge download & cumbersome like bitcoincore & much more versatile than any online wallet.

First thing first, desktop wallets are better than online ones because the private keys never leave your PC so if you have a clean PC it is very much advisable to use wallets like MultibitHD and Electrum, which uses SEED like 12 words or 13 words in order to restore them in case you lose your password or your PC crashes after some time.

I have always spoken against blockchain.info, yet yesterday I decided to give it a try and joined the new legacy wallet which is HD and uses 12 words just like MultibitHD and Electrum, added all the possible securities except the mobile number because I think there is some problems many times with getting the code to the phone. However installed it in  Linux clean machine, and added 2FA. Let's see how it goes as I am not much of a believer in online wallets. They don't store your password, but since they do all of transactions inside a browser there is still high risk. But if we talk about online wallets this new wallet of blockchain has added substantial security. Still I just added 0.07 USD to my blockchain wallet just to test it. Will continue using Electrum as its far more better than any online wallet.

First time heard of this but does it allow international users ? if not then useless to suggest anyone. And yeah I like the idea of free transactions from coins.ph to coins.ph but still there must be someone paying that fees behind it.
yeah seems also to international wallet because I also have an account there. This is similar Coinbase wallet. You can buy bitcoin or cryptocurrency in this wallet. but you can not get full access like on blockchain or other offline wallet. coins.ph wallet sort of exchange

I use blockchain  for months and everything is ok, I even have their wallet for android. Its very easy to use, what is important for me. I think there is good wallets around, every is a bit different then other so depends from your taste and needs you can choose the one you like most.

If someone have a lot of coins, offline wallet is best options for sure. I heard a lot of positive stories about electrum, personally I didn`t use it. Blockchain is perfect for me, and android application allow me to send coins even when I`m not home.

Blockchain.info is a good wallet, the new wallet is HD which means its recoverable and you can use it from anywhere, just add the 2FA and you will be safe , I am using it and still haven't had any problem with this wallet. There are others also like Coinbase, or XAPO but they hold the private keys for you which means you are not in control of your bitcoins.

I know there are a lot of wallets available.
This is why I want to know your opinion what is the best online Bitcoin wallet, in level of security, protection of our Bitcoins and availability of support.

You can use also a free wallet like xapo or direct bet one.
You can't use the priv key linked to the public address, but most of the time you don't need to pay a withdrawal fee.

but I think also that one of the best online wallet is blockchain.info.

other service (but are different they need a sw to be downloaded) are :
green address
electrum

Local wallet is good only for using it on cash out basis only because i really think it is not safe and i experience that my wallet ia lockup due to reaching my maximum monthly threshold and when i contact them they said i need to have a skype chat with them so they can determine if my balance is legal, and thats the reason i dont recommend for now storing bitcoin for long time there instead use blockchain because its really safe.

You dont have to be afraid for your wallet as long as your doing good and stay away from malicious links spreading out there well your good because you can make sure your wallet is safe and also just make sure you activate your 2fa although it cam be bypass but its another extra key to your wallet will not be compromise easily.

The best online wallet avaliable is coinbase.com!
They are a free service, conditionally insure the currency stored there, DDOS protection and they cover the transaction fees.
They are also a fairly trusted site on this forum.

There are also oter online wallets suh as yobit and blockchain.info but these, I feel, are less reliable!

It can be used by expert bitcoin owners but indeed also by newbies.
so,i guess all wallet such as multibit, electrum and coinbase are part of blockchain wallet as it using blockchain system to get connected to the network
guess you're mentioning blockchain.info not blockchain system because it was definitely different, blockchain.info = wallet provider
blockchain = bitcoin's system

You are right about that the blockchain wallet is very good and also good secured these days, I really think you can make nice transactions from it and its also that its all very nice to have a good overview of your bitcoin in this wallet.

I also have a high amount bitcoin and that is safely stored in my paper wallet right now.

By far blockchain.info is my favourite. It's the most complete wallet on the net. Even coinbase's wallet isn't that good. I do hope they will launch a stable version soon though.

Well I'm amazed that they cover the transaction fees. I've been using blockchain.info for a long time and have processed almost 200 transactions, with their standard fee of 0.0001. So if I had used coinbase.com all this time, I'd have saved 0.02 BTC.

most online wallets are protected from ddos's so that doesn't really matter the only thing that matters is which wallet can send and receive with faster confirmations that is number one priority to make sure transactions get through accordingly and instantaneously.

Do you have access or control over your private keys on localbitcoin? I think not, You should consider switching your wallet where you have full access over your wallet.

Apart larger transactions need manual approval their service isn't too trustworthy. There is a reason why people are talking bad about yobit.

As a bit of a newbiw... I've been investigating desktop and hot wallets quite a bit the last couple of days.

I initially created a blockchain.info wallet... because a lot of the reviews and comments I saw said that it was good and had a lot of nifty features (owning private keys, signing messages etc)... however, a lot of these nifty features don't exist in the "new" wallet, only the old legacy one... I did not know they had recently upgraded, so it seems like a lot of the more useful features are missing. :(

I created a Xapo wallet a bit by accident. I was wanting to "test" that my wallets were working etc, and was mucking around with faucets to generate an incoming transaction. One faucet made payments direct to the Xapo... I'm still not 100% sure how this actually works, and how these coins are registered in the blockchain as belonging to me?? As there doesn't seem to be a transaction associated with them??

I have also been looking into Coinbase... haven't tried it out as yet... as I think I will just setup a desktop wallet.

Ran into some of the exchange type services (like YoBit)... but I see the overall consensus is that unless you are moving the money/coin or actively trading, you should NEVER leave your money on an exchange. Sounds like pretty decent advice to me.

And finally, although not exactly about online wallets... I have begun in earnest to look at Desktop wallets as with all these online services either getting hacked or running away with peoples money... I'm getting a little paranoid.

Believe me,all of them (the good one's) have, and they use it.
Back to topic,i love blockchain,i have been using it for a long time and i was always satisfied.

Simply because I have more funds there.

They also have insurance on funds stored in their wallets (providing money i not lot through weak credentials)!

I know there are a lot of wallets available.
This is why I want to know your opinion what is the best online Bitcoin wallet, in level of security, protection of our Bitcoins and availability of support.

Online Wallets are crap, I think!
Usually you can not see your own Private key there...
I use "Bitcoin-Wallet for Android" and the "Bitcoin-Core" on my Desktop.  ;)

@neutraLTC,

Does blocktrail include access to the private keys? I have tried blockchain.info, but there new beta wallet does not currently provide the private keys... and there doesn't seem like a way to open an "old" account. I've also read that eventually everyone will be migrated to the new wallet anyway and I haven't seen any indication that they will be providing keys.

I still like the idea of easy access to online wallets, but would prefer the security of possessing the private keys for my wallet.

When using Blocktrail (http://www.blocktrail.com) you get a nice PDF backup of your master seed.

What exactly do you want to achieve with having your private keys? We always want to hear a good case for private keys, let us know!

Thanks

Hi...

The point of having the private keys is complete ownership of the underlying bitcoins. It also allows one to "move" to a different wallet/system with a minimum of fuss should various factors dictate that such a move was required.

Can I flip the question around and ask why you wouldn't/don't give access to the private keys?

Having the backup PDF stored safely is your "complete ownership" to your underlying coins, with the backup PDF you can always recover your bitcoins when neccesary, even when Blocktrail would be offline.
You can do this with our recovery tool (https://recovery.blocktrail.com/ (https://recovery.blocktrail.com/) source: https://github.com/blocktrail/wallet-recovery-tool (https://github.com/blocktrail/wallet-recovery-tool)), read more about it here: https://blog.blocktrail.com/2015/11/blocktrail-wallet-recovery-tool/ (https://blog.blocktrail.com/2015/11/blocktrail-wallet-recovery-tool/)
The recovery can also easily be ran locally.

The reason why exporting private keys doesn't make sense anymore with most modern wallets is because they are HD, the fact that exporting private keys is such a horrible backup solution is actually the whole reason why HD wallets were invented.
You now have 1 future-proof backup that doesn't need when you create new addresses (which for privacy reasons you should be doing for every transaction).

Another reason is that the Blocktrail wallet is a multisig HD wallet, so recovering your bitcoins using a different wallet isn't as simple as just importing private keys, the wallet which would import the privatekeys would need to have some extra code to understand how the multisig HD is structured and the same for other multisig HD wallets (because they're all slightly different).

A very detailed and comprehensive answer. Much appreciated... and answers my question "What am I not understanding properly about these HD wallets?" ;)

So, to clarify for my 9am brain suffering from a lack of caffeine... the Heuristically Determined, or HD, wallets... start with the single "seed" which will then generate 'random' bitcoin addresses in the same repeatable order each time?

So, I start with seed xyz... this would generate address1 = syj, address2 = vbc, address 3 = gds, address 4 = teg etc. Then my cat spills my coffee all over my laptop and it explodes... so I buy a new laptop, reinstall my HD wallet... enter seed "xyz" and it starts back at 'syj', then 'vbc' etc etc??

So rather than needing to store/backup a private key for every address I ever create... I just need that initial seed and I'm golden??

I can certainly see the benefits in that! :)

Best bitcoin wallet online is blockchain is more safiest than others

In the online wallets i would prefer Xapo. It has a strong security and 2 Factor based authentication. The best part is that there is no fee for tx and all the transactions are free without any fee.
yeh i prefert to you blockchain because it is easy to use and it is the first bitcoin wallet i use it is fast and reliable but if you want you can also make bitcoin wallet on your desktop :)  and for xapo it is exchange so it is needed for them to ask about phone verification , but i suggest that if you are from philippines use coins.ph where you can buy deposit withdraw your money that from one of the best wallet i've use :)

coinbase is only good if you want an easy and newbie friendly platform for purchasing bitcoin not for holding bitcoin there as a wallet. because you DO NOT have the private keys hence you don't own bitcoin.

and blockchain has had some troubles in the past but that is because of massive requests they get and also DDoS that causes outage. but i prefer it as an online wallet to keep "small" amounts there.

blockchain is easy and very compatible to use. but sadly it is not safe enough. I only use blockchain to receive and send bitcoins. but when it comes about storing bitcoins for longterm. I prefer to use Electrum desktop wallet which is more secured than blockchain... lots of complaints are posted by peoples about blockchain that there money have been stolen..

blockchain is easy and very compatible to use. but sadly it is not safe enough. I only use blockchain to receive and send bitcoins. but when it comes about storing bitcoins for longterm. I prefer to use Electrum desktop wallet which is more secured than blockchain... lots of complaints are posted by peoples about blockchain that there money have been stolen..

I believe you are talking about blockchain.info
But do you have the reference of what you've said that people's money is stolen in blockchain.info?

I know there are a lot of wallets available.
This is why I want to know your opinion what is the best online Bitcoin wallet, in level of security, protection of our Bitcoins and availability of support.

Copay when I'm using windows phone. And coins.ph for android. They both shows the accuracy the security that I'm looking. Especially coins.ph for reloading there's a need for code everytime three a need to use it. A entering of password for every transactions.

Blockchain.info is one the best online wallets for me since their security system is very excellent, they have 2FA and you can allow accessing your private keys, unlike the others wallets don't allow that.

Best web wallet would be blockchain.info, as it's secure. But they are also the target of many attacks. My suggestion is to use a partial web wallet, like bitgo. But the best would be a trezor.

Yeah that all is good until you lose your identifier,to make it worse, your login details of the associated email. You will have a good time convincing their support to give you the access again.Plus they've worst update policy,no notifications,no email   about the changes.Did I say documentation ? Honestly i can trust any online wallets since its an online wallet anytime hackers can attack the DDOS..
Unlike we use electrum that we can install it locally in computers that we can increase our protection using anti virus that has compatible crypto like kaspersky..  its more safe than online wallet..

Yeah yeah, we all know desktop wallets are considerably way safer than web/online ones. There's a lot of good ones and it's easy to install. So overall safer.

But then on the online/web wallets, I'd still go with blockchain. Even with the attacks they've been having, main reason is because I got access to my keys, then 2fa (although admittedly I'm on 'look-and-see' mode, coz of the attacks.)

2nd would be coinbase. Haven't been hacked so far, no problems yet, and they got much cheaper fees that blockchain.

3rd would be Xapo(drawback is the need for identification) and cryptopay.(New to cryptopay, just tried it out recently,so far ok.)

Anyway, I don't really store much funds on my web wallets. Just enough for spending/shopping/etc. Still, these three are the best ones.

Generally online wallets are not recmemded to save our bitcoin moreover big balance. You must install a software wallet like Electrum is probably better or even a hardware wallet like the trezor. Unless you are only using small amounts of Bitcoin as online wallets are the most convenient. But if you always receive bitcoin with high frequently, I recommended to use blockchain wallet.for first, xapo for second.

Xapo is completely safe once you obtain a debit card.

Although they used to offer insurance the security in their servers is extremely high to the point where there is little to no risk.

With future updates i'm certain they would open up more functionality to all users.

For other web wallets, most with https, excluding exchanges will perform more over time if holding excessive amounts.

There is no such thing as "completely safe" online wallet. Of course we can say that Xapo have good security, but in my opinion most secure and most user-friendly is Coinbase.
Both deserve attention - Xapo because of people behind (founder of PayPal), Coinbase - funds that are behind the project ($ 120M) and professionalism.

I would claim that desktop wallets are safe only if you know how to make safe your desktop (computer) itself in the first place. I also think you can't actually say something like "we all know" and so on for the simple reason that most computer users are not very tech-savvy overall and thus their computers are not safe. Besides, computers are hacked by far more often than web-wallets, therefore such comparisons and inferences thereof hardly make sense at all.

i suggest coinbase, they have 2fa so getting hacked is pretty unlikely. the reason i dont like blockchain is because its too slow. i have to login everytime i want to check the balance. their app sucks. and coinbase has an amazing app.

What can you say about Coinbase and their license, which theoretically wouldn't allow them just run with all funds. In such cases sooner or later they'll be brought to justice, isn't it? I'm just trying to figure out if such licenses really matters and it's quite hard to get comprehensive information

If you do not need to carry your bitcoin for more than one place (like accessing your bitcoins from your home computer and from office laptop), you can simply stay within desktop wallets.

Your friend must be right, but online wallets are having some specific applications for different uses. I am using one online wallet to save transaction fees which is not possible with any desktop wallets.

The only good feature of Xapo  I can even remotely consider to be useful is "no transaction fee" policy.
But from the other hand I think it gives people wrong idea about how the bitcoin network work.
Process of sending bitcoin is not completely free and transaction fee is integral part of bitcoin network.

its an online wallet, you better not store a huge amount of bitcoin there unless you can afford your wealth to lose in the future.
if you are into online wallet, you may just divide it to any wallets. Consider storing some to the rest of the wallet like on the exchanges or to be safe install a hard drive wallet.

Yes, they are very liberal at this point. I'm using their service too since I started using BTCs, but we must say their fees are very high, I think the highest fees are on Blockchain.info. I don't understand why another online wallets can take less fees and Blockchain.info takes a lot of high fees per transaction.

That is how they earn so i guess if there are tons of users using blockchain.info wallet, they may reduce its fees per transaction. I'm used to store my btc on exchanges for i trade a lot. Kraken exchange is asking 0.00050btc per transactions though and i think its a lot than any other. Yobit as far as i know is just 0.00020btc
