You may have to setup state specific accounts with smaller banks, which might be more hospitable to your business.

What is the turn around time?

It depends, of course, but usually anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours.  Basically, as soon as you confirm that the deposit has been made, confirm the amount, and confirm your btc address, we verify it and initiate the transfer.

There are no bank of america's or Wells Faro's around my parts, so this would be my option of payment. How exactly do I get you guys to send me a prepaid label? I just placed an order, so I'll read my email.. but would also like to know if anyone here knows.

Today we received 3 cash orders ... one of which was an empty envelope.  It was not tampered with, nor was the label removed and replaced, so either someone stole the cash from the package miraculously, or the client sent an empty envelope knowing we would at least split the "loss" with them.  We did split the loss and sent $400 worth of btc, but this makes it clear that accepting payment via this method is not a reliable option for the time being.

If you've purchased using the overnight cash method with us before, we will continue to offer you the prepaid label.  However, until we figure out how to prevent today's situation, we won't be accepting cash in the mail orders from any new clients. 

Which reminds me:

When you are shipping cash, please please please do not just pass the label and cash envelope to the postal employee and leave without making sure they actually put the cash envelope inside the Express Mail envelope.  :(

Yeah, going forward, that seems like the best option.  Turns out after he received the $400 worth of btc I sent, he remembered that the postal lady was "in a rush" and told me he went in, handed her the cash envelope and prepaid label, asked her to put it in an Express Mail envelope, and then left without making sure she actually put the cash envelope inside the Express Mail envelope.  :\

What the heck? Express Mail, Priority envelopes and boxes are all in organizer slots at a station in front of the counter... he could have put it in and sealed it with the tear-off glue strip himself. The hardest part would have been taping the pre-paid label to the envelope, had you sent it to him via PDF like I just did with someone sending me silver last night (assuming they didn't have Avery label sheets or whatever).

So the buyer was legit and will send you the funds?

Yes, I sent a prepaid label in PDF form, but he didn't have tape or something.  No idea.

And no, he won't send the funds ... he says it's too much money but that if I keep doing business with him, he will "more than make it up" to me.  Who knows.

I suppose all that has to happen is to let people know BEFORE they send any cash that I will not be responsible for it if an empty envelope arrives, or if it gets lost along the way.  I'm not sure if I'm able to do prepaid Registered Mail labels, but my guess is that has to be done at the time of shipping in the post office itself in order for them to verify what goes into the envelope before they agree to insure it for a large amount.

With registered mail, it would be tracked from person to person each step of the way and then if something were to go wrong, the sender could take it up with the post office and get reimbursed (but only using Registered Mail and declaring the exact amount of cash).

Therein lies the rub.

I'm in the need to buy some coin and tried the site, but it seemed a little expensive. $40 difference on a 10 btc buy. I mean it really isn't that much difference but I wanted a larger buy and you only have $1k limit on your site, right? It is either I wait for my original supplier to replenish or I pay a higher fee. All depends on how much I want my BTC. There must be a buying spree going on since the Avalon miners went back on sale. I think that has to with a shortage of coin. Your fee is %5 off every BTC or the whole amount?

I appreciate your opinion, but we firmly stand by our 5% fee for the time being.  Other companies like us have comparable rates, and even Bitinstant charges 3.99% fee plus the ZipZap fee, Bitcopia and Ziggap each have fees right around ours.  We have to cover our costs and feel our rate is very fair considering we pay the bank to handle our many cash deposits, we provide prepaid overnight shipping labels ($18-$30), etc.

I can respect it if/when someone disagrees, but for now, 5% is where we'll stay.  :)

I'm ok with the %5, and do think it is fair...just right now a little high for me that's all. Bitinstant has a %1.99 fee on buying from Dwolla. I actually forgot I had a verified Dwolla account. BUT also I've heard Bitinstant having big delays in transactions...so who the heck knows these days right. Will you guys ever incorporate funding from bank accounts?

haha, yes, that's where the name comes from!  you're the first person to mention that!  :D

unfortunately, we're not able to accept bank transfers at this point due to how easy they are to reverse.  we might some day in the distant future, maybe, but for now, it's just too risky.

I have been using cryptocurrent for all my btc deposits for around a month and it has been great. He handles all his support in the most timely manner (email replies in less than an hour usually) and asnwers all of our crazy questions as best and quickly as he can.

I recommend him to everyone here and even my family (no joke). So far on all my deposits (>15k) ive had my funds within an hour of doing my bank deposit. Cryptocurrent is great business and very helpful. I hope you all get to use him. And if you do let us know how his services are for you!

Felt so good about the first, I did another bitcoin buy from CryptoCurrent and bitcoins were transferred literally within minutes! Yep, all my skepticism is over. I feel very comfortable with these guys.

Yeah cash by mail is tricky. Maybe you should just accept postal money orders instead? You could easily prove you didn't cash it if you get an empty envelope.  Also I am curious as to how you keep things straight. If you have two people ordering $200 worth how do you tell them apart? I've seen other bitcoin businesses add small amounts (e.g. $200.04). Just curious.

Honestly, this hasn't been a problem yet.  Even on days when there are a few, for example, $800 deposits, since each person emails us again after they've made the deposit, it's relatively easy to figure it out.  But, you bring up a good point, and in the future we will probably need to implement a new policy of having people scan / take a photo of the deposit receipt and email it to us ... either that, or we'll start asking people to deposit some small amount of change, like you mentioned. 

We're also going to go ahead and offer cash in the mail as an option again, but this time before anyone sends anything, we'll make very clear that we are not responsible for any loss in transit, or if the individual forgets to put anything in the envelope, or whatever other issues.  If people want to send via Registered Mail, that would be an option as well, but I've read that can take 3 weeks, so ... probably not a VIABLE option.

Cash in the mail is really only appealing to those without BoA or WF nearby, or those who have a lot of cash on hand, or those who prefer avoiding the bank altogether.

Not today, sorry.  We had multiple clients decide to deposit without warning and then not say anything until the price hit $105 ... so we lost about $150+ per coin on thousands of dollars worth of surprise orders.  :(

We've suspended trading for the time being.

When the cash deposit is made there is a time/date stamp on that deposit, right? Don't you guys use the price of bitcoin at that time/date? Don't let people take advantage of you, not right.


You should have just sent them their original funds back for not following the procedure. Every day customers that follow the rules and procedures should not have suffer for what the others did. And they still even got their bitcoin! There have been several big time sellers that have closed doors temporarily due to the price drop. Hope you get going again....

The problem is that when people make a cash deposit, there is no way to send them their funds back ... so it forces us to process the order.  We'll get going again, for sure, but we took a hard, hard hit today.

"Cash deposits are non-refundable, and those not following the order procedure will be price-locked at time of deposit. If you don't like that rate, then thanks for the donation."

One can spread the risk around but an USD currency collapse will ensure one will get wiped out in their business account, if one cannot manage systemic international business risk. Besides FDIC can only service insurance for maybe 5% of the US deposits, if lucky.  Total US bank deposits are sitting at around USD 10 Trillion currently.  Call FDIC, they will tell you. They have USD 33B to cover the loss plus another maybe 100B from the not so federal reserve, with no real reserves.  This is a very real and present danger to our nation and the world over. Currently the BRICS nations are no longer accepting USD for world trade.  USD=Petrol dollar.  No cheap petrol= scarcity in clean water and food.

If a great majority do not accept USD's in the future do you think the value will go down or up? Great for BTC (BTW IMHO among others)  Just saying...one needs to manage risk in this dynamic/acute business climate or risk going insolvent.

Quick update: We are not accepting orders at this time. 

I would keep personal transaction information private and just use email. If you sent funds and are going through a buy with Crypto then saying, "hey I sent in funds" or "Ok now i am waiting for my coins" I think that just fills up the forum with useless redundant information that no one will will benefit from. This is just my opinion of course. Opinions are like asshol** everyone has one.

If there is any information we all could benefit from then of course type away.

We had high hopes of opening shop again today since the rate was relatively stable over the weekend, but with it currently falling so drastically in such a short amount of time, we're remaining "closed" for the time being.

Also: if you make a deposit without first receiving the go-ahead from us, the funds will be held for up to 72 hours and will incur a larger fee.

Do you plan on giving an option for international customers?

Not at this time.

Due to scammers, we are going to be selling ONLY to our pre-existing clients once we reopen this week.  There will also be some new policies in effect.

What a terrible shame!

I just read through this thread, and read some rave reviews about this business and their customer service, only to find the door slammed shut at the end!

I would have liked to have been a customer, but I can understand somewhat what you all might be going through.

Maybe a good compromise would be to say that when we re-open, we will be dealing only with verified, trustworthy clients.  Forum members who are legitimate bitcoin enthusiasts with positive community feedback would be more than welcome to place an order.  We're just trying to avoid these scams.  I'm not sure why, but every single time something like this happens it still surprises me.  :(

In any case, you're more than welcome to place an order when we get back on our feet.  Just remember to mention your forum username so we know who you are.

Since we had to file with FinCEN, that means we are now officially a MSB ... which apparently requires bank approval.  We've filled out the paperwork and should hear back this week as to whether we are approved or denied.  If denied, then we'll just need to find a new bank, but my BoA branch thinks we have a decent shot.

So, we shall see!  All of that to say -- if you want to place an order with us, our account do currently still exist!  :D

A thread called "CryptoCurrent // Bitcoin Sales - Simple & Secure", wouldn't be the first place I'd want to look for a comparison on bitcoin sales and service. And it is ok we quoted your post, we are just adding more popularity to this thread. :)

That comparison isn't exactly right.  It's more like someone walks into a Toyota dealership, gets the attention of everyone in the shop, and then stands up in front of them to encourage them to buy a Ford.

It's not that this is an infomercial, but it's a thread dedicated to my trading service - not a thread for comparing the various competing services.  No big deal, just maybe not the right place for it.  :)

Hey, there certainly are tons of people that get away with killing people each year, even burning down houses....and they don't get caught. Why not just stay in business and keep floating around so you can't be found? If a murderer and arsonist can do it, I'm sure you guys can do it to. :)
