UPDATE: BAIKAL HAVE SAID NEXT BATCH WILL NOT HAVE LIMITATION ON QUANTITY


Hey all,

as you know Baikal has imposed a limit of 1 cube per person for this first batch.

I should imagine they will be bringing out newer models soon of their giants (and you can always stack cubes to make quad cubes)

as you know we have had extreme success with the last 3 group buys. Well done to all of you who participated, I hope you ROI ASAP.

the main aim of these groupbuys is to get cheaper gear for the community, it was such a shame when products were unavailable.


this first batch of cubes there will not be a group buy, however I am in negotiation with baikal and we have a good chance of a group buy discount when the next batch is released.

right now this thread is to show baikal how serious we are, please post if you are interested

Are there any improvements with this new design beyond the obvious speed increase?

I've seen past posts that indicate people have issues with the software/controllers.

Are you sure Baikal aren't running a scam with these new cube miners?

Their website is so terrible they should be ashamed of it.

I arranged payment for one of them in dash yesterday via email from someone called Charles Zhou. I paid 13.86 dash and sent them two different screenshots showing the transaction with many confirmations and I haven't heard from them since. Like no emails about my order for nearly 24 hours now.

Is it credible that they could build a miner that looks like it's the same size as a mini but it has double the hashrate?

I think we might be getting ripped off because the demand was so obvious and everyone was greedy for anything doing X11.

I would encourage anyone who is considering buying from Baikal to be very cautious. I won't be happy until they at least tell me the status of my order.

If I get the cube I paid for, or at least a refund if I didn't pay in time - I am definitely interested in joining a group buy for 2-3 more units, but I'm finding it difficult to trust Baikal right now.

It's a small outfit, definitely legit.  I ordered multiple units via email with Mr. Zhou last year, no problems.  You just have to be patient with them.

OK fair enough. I ordered a mini-miner from them a couple of months ago too and it was all smooth and easy. I guess if they are small they must be having trouble dealing with massive demand and a flooded inbox. I really hope you are right.

Mobile site is buggy, I wouldn't trust it. On the mobile site I log in using username but full site requires email address. Menu's sometimes don't work etc so I just stick to full site now

Welcome to the club. I've made three accounts in the last month, two of which in the past couple of days.

It's like their site is a work in progress, badly migrating data from previous unfinished revisions, but never becomming finished or remotely useful or secure (no SSL cert, displaying your password in the clear instead of digesting it, etc).

Just ignore their site and email them directly, or wait for this group buy to jell, or both.

I guess I'll take a crappy broken website and good mining equipment over a totally snazzy site and shitty reliability (like Bitmain).

on a side note, the baikal mini that i bought in Aug 2016, does not like to auto-switch algorithms.  i had it daisy chained with a couple new mini's.  I knew i had a problem with it, but didn't really worry about it because it was running x11 for the last couple of months. i switched it to most profitable this morning, and when i got home, the daisy-chained system was down.  
With the profits jumping around on algorithms, i decided to remove the older mini from the chain and run separately.   not 5 minutes of hopping around, the psu starts screaming (sounds like a whining transformer).  as long as i keep it on x11, it's fine.  

I haven't updated the software since i bought it, but it's one of the first multi-algorithm minis from baikal with the multi-algorithm software.

You can check order status when You logon into baikal web site. They changed logon from username to e-mail, I believe this is the reason why people have problems to sign in.
I'm in for Giant if this order passes. My country is not in the country list on their web site so I'm doing my best to convince them to ship properly.

I'd be a lot more interested in the new Cube model if they had put a PCI-E 6-pin connector on it.

I dont think, that it has sense to organize group buy in situation when Baikal has limit only one unit per customer (and people are waiting for Giants ordered 4 weeks ago...). According me now they dont need such group buy, they have enough direct customer. I know personally people who want to buy directly from them higher quantity than all together in previous posts.

i'm interested in buying 20-25 cubes depending on the price (discount) via PayPal.

But there is one problem i want to mention!
The Baikal miner Cube's don't have the "CE-Marking" on them.

I had a conversation with them and they told me that the previous miner had it BUT not the current one.
It's very important to have that CE-Marking on the package/boxing and on the miner itself to allow a legal import to the EU-Countries.

Otherwise we have to pay a penalty and the product can be destroyed from the duty. But the import is definitely prohibited.

So if the CE-Marking is integrated (on package and miner) in the next batch of cubes, I'm definetly interested in buying (if it doesn't take too much time)


PS: Can anyone explain how this whole group buy system works?

From everything I hear they are a very small 2 person operation.  I do not see any realistic way for them to do such a large order.  I think you need to think more realistically an entire order shipment is probably around 50 units max and you expect them to do that many on a single order.  If they could they would of not run out of the mini miners and other miners so quickly.

I have a source in Guangdong, China, w/ no customer limits.  Prices are higher and if not all orders can be filled by this group buy ... then this may be an option.  My contact in Shenzhen wants 1 BTC per unit, but suggested a potential price break. Bitcoin is lower priced over there; may be able to be lower if we get to 100.  Just an FYI.

DHL always makes you pay customs taxes, so you would have to use another company but then the shipping can be way longer and it's not guaranteed to avoid you any tax...

This is all going to depend on the wattage of your PSU as well as how many VGA power connectors you have. It appears to uses a 6 pin PCIe connector from other threads here.

Nothing new here.  Same great product in a new package.

Watching Baikal products, they appear to be using the same chips in Minis, Cubes, Quads, and Giants.  The watt-to-output ratio is constant with the only difference between a two Minis and a Cube is that only one Orange Pi is needed to drive a Cube.  Factor in one less Pi with a single, larger fan, and you find the efficiency difference.  I have two minis linked together now by removing the Orange Pi from the slave miner.  Essentially, I built a Cube.  (Also have a Quad and Giant.)

That all being said, I think my brother may still be interested in at least one Cube.  He missed out on the previous group buys.

Sorry, is it Baikal Mini you are talking about? If so, then its current profitability does look good, considering its original price of $300. I bought a Bitcoin miner for the same price ($300) six months ago and it's getting about $2 per day today, which I'm still happy with. So yes, Baikal's miners seem at least twice as good by comparison.

It's weird because when I clicked on the link I was definitely on the genuine Baikal site. I guess he forgot to put his fake, underlying link and edited the post after I clicked on the link. The real deal page always give me the same result. Try to buy two and it says one per customer. Try to buy one and it says sorry not enough inventory.

This crap has always happened with group buys and other offers from valid vendors. Scumbags PM people saying time to pay and make a new account that looks so similar to the genuine one nobody bothers to look it has a post count below 10. Some thinking they might miss out quickly send their BTC to the scumbag to never be seen again. I lost quite a bit in the LTC Gear fiasco that I am OCD about making sure who I am sending crypto is the genuine deal before I send it. LTC Gear was the genuine deal for a while and then the guy went Ponzi on everyone and took a bundle of BTC with him.

These things are a moonshot, but if the OP is kind enough to arrange units.

There is no x13 calculator on what to mine.
I have search on google but dont find x13 calculator.

Another way to calculate is as follows:

Find : Network Hash Rate = NHR
Your Hash Rate = YHR
Block Reward Rate = BRR
Block Average Time in min = BAT

so for example if:
NHR = 100 TH/s
YHR = 1TH/s
BRR = 5
BAT = 10

Than you should (1440/BAT)*5 = Total daily coin output.(TDCO)

TDCO x (YHR/NHR) = Your daily coin generation

so for above example it would be.  7.2 coin for you per day. (It does not take in account for TXN fees or pool fees etc)

It goes without saying that make sure to convert Hash/Kilo/Mega/Giga/Tera appropriately.

You dont have to account for difficulty that number is arbitrary its like having another variable.Yes the following calculation should give you rough estimate on expected coin mined per day.

You have to account difficulty. Some have bigger retargetting period in blocks. So it's possible that someone with large hashrate comes in-> drives up diff-> leaves. And you will get 1/20 of coins you calculated.

Nope you don't because your Hash Rate to Network Hash rate will tell you instantly how much coins are you expected to get on that particular day.

No, read up again. I said diff. retgrgetting make diff spikes and when miner with hashrate leave. You might have let's 50% of network but difficuty will make block time increased let's say from 1 min to 10 mins and thus your coin rewards will be low. Yes if pools show estimate block time, then yes you can calc. from that. But if you take time from coin specs you usually will get less coins.

are there some new information regarding the "CE-Marking"?

Just in case someone missed it: Without the CE-Marking on the package and on the miner itself we are not allowed to import that product legally to the EU-Countries. The last Baikal Miner had it, but they forgot about it on the first batch of the Baikal Miner CUBE.

I'm interested in buying, but I really don't want to risk to pay a penalty and my product been destroyed from the duty... I had a phone call with them and they literally told me: If it doesn't have a "CE-Marking" we will find it." :'( So I'm hoping the next batch of miners will have it.

Had someone else a conversation with Baikal about this topic?

I honestly do not think you will get a group buy through Baikal. With their latest batch selling out in about 4 hours and them restricting their buys to 1 per order they don't seem to interested in a select few having all the hashing power using their devices. They seem pretty fair and want many users to have a chance to mine using their device

It was the next morning before I could login after registering. I think it said to wait two hours but it took much longer than that.

Tried to order just a few minutes ago with no success. No errors, no out of stock, just refreshed the page and would not add to my cart.

I finally gave up.

Their site is garbage. I had to make and discard three accounts over the course of several days before I got anything to stick.

Also, they have no SSL certificate so your password goes over the Internet in the clear. Don't reuse any passwords!

In any case, I tried this morning and they're already out of stock again. Not surprising.

I hope that this group buy turns into something, but I'm not holding my breath.

If they keep selling out instantly every time they get some in stock they have no reason to deal with a discounted price to a group. That would be illogical in a business sense. They would only agree to a group buy when stock is not moving and want to sell the units before value drops.

I just went to the baikal website, and it's no longer saying "no inventory", however, nothing is showing up in the cart.
I normally check every day, and today is the first day where it's not saying "no inventory".

They seem to require a 1% of 0.01BTC addition to the order for services.
Is that normal? Also, the 1BTC seems a bit high for 1 unit, even considering shipping.

Hey Brad. Same here. The guy told me that the deadline for the pre-order is April 27. Expected delivery is on the second week of May.

I initially asked them when is the next batch of Cubes coming out. Then he replied with the pre-order thing for the Quad Cube.

I got 4 cubes to split with a buddy. A quad would probably be cheaper to ship, but for all I know the quad all runs on ONE pi..so probably
only keeping 2 and a buddy will get 2 cubes. We are probably at best looking at over 200 day ROI on these with this dump at best in May
so ..trying to keep this at a toy level. Also so cheap to run ..I can mess around with useless and obscure X11 coins well into my future :)

They need to step up their game to be a real company and not take an online order and go through back channels to confirm on copycat skype channels, then email etc.

People I know personally lost money due to being scammed, and this is a terrible way to do business in my opinion.

If you can't communicate with your customers, then you don't deserve them :)

When I go to the website even when items are in stock it never adds them to the cart. The website looks like a four year old child made it. If they can design kick ass mining hardware why can't they put together something better than an elementary student could do? The website is a real joke. One of the worst I have seen in a very long time.

Any update on this nightmare of a system? Is their system hacked or not? Who is the real baikal?! we may never know tune in next week to find out

be sure it is the right skype..and get an email from the person from the skype account

if i got an email from her/him in the past... xxx@baikalminer.com i figured it was legit

with all the troubles they have now and ugly ugly site it could be hacked

but do that at least ....make them send you and email from above ..if they won't do that ..it is hacked or you are talking to one of the other 8 fake

there is a reason we are parinoid about their site getting hacked..it looked hacked even when it was legit!!! it is guite the cluster of a site at the best of times

but again ..i probably will NOT go thru skype unless i get a confrim email from the baikalminer.com site as a check

Having ordered from Baikal before I will NOT be buying anything before they get their shit together. Website down, can't give you any straight answers on anything, and now they are producing some hacked together Quad Cube. No thanks.

Also, why did I find three different Facebook pages for them. Which one is the legit one or are they so screwed up they actually created three different Facebook accounts for themselves?

And on skype they reply every 2-3-4 days........if they reply at all.

I still say great response time, given they're running an international business with high demands for their products.

Care to share what bank account number they gave you to transfer to? This way people can cross reference it to see if it's legit and the same. It's pretty easy to spoof emails coming from baikal@baikalminer.com. So if someone see that the bank account numbers are different, then it's a red flag.

Just curious, what wire instructions did they give you? Did it match up to bigassboy information on the previous page?

Also, wonder how that up to 5 business days will play out, since on their email, they said "please do the payment as we have quoted before the Beijing time of 10:00 PM in April 27th. Otherwise the your order will be canceled."

In other words, does that mean if they don't see it posted by today, would they cancel you? Even though you sent payment, and it gets posted 4 days from now? And then you are lucked out? Who knows...

from baikal, not yet. I did ask the bank and they told me up to 3 days but normally the receiver should  get the fund the next day itself.

SWIFT wire transfers usually get credited within one business day.
